My first impression of Dr obied was good, he has a good sense of humor and is very human. HE went over all the risks and complications of the surgery. His staff were wonderful and very informative- his nurse had the surgery 6 years ago.I feel very confident in his hands. Hurley center for weight loss has a very structured program for before and after weight loss.

I met my surgeon on my consulation appointment march 25, 2003. I was very impressed with him. I was still unsure about getting the surgury at my consulation visit. However after DR.Obeid spent an hour and a half with me explaining everything,I left there feeling confident and secure in my decision to have the surgury. He explained all the risks and benifits. He explained that this is a lifechange, and I would have to be willing to make that change. They seem to have a wonderful aftercare program. He is the cheif of trauma surgeon,he is also a vascular surgeon. All his experience just reinforced my decision.I do not have a surgury date yet.

I found Dr. Obeid to be awesome! He was so kind and informational. He addressed all the issues concerning the surgery very thoroughly. He is also an experienced trauma surgeon so I know I will be in good hands! I feel very secure in my decision to have him perform the surgery. The staff and Dr. Obeid seemed very overwhelmed. I didn't get a chance to talk to the bariatric counselor while I was there - she had a family emergency. But even though they were sooo busy they were still kind, objective, and sympathetic.
**** Post Op Review **********
All the doctors, nurses, and PAs for Hurley Center are fantastic. I cannot recommend them enough. They are kind, empathetic, and gentle with you. You're in good hands with Dr. Obeid, Dr. Minasian, and Dr. Dabadin

Dr. Obeid is very caring. I had a concern a couple of days after surgery and he returned my page from Chicago. He is very clear about the risks of surgery. So far, my only complaint is about clarity of post surgical instruction, specifically eating. There are very few specific instructions and options given. I was fortunate to have friends who went through this at another facility and I got good advice from them. Hurley doesn't give a lot of why answers for doing specific things. So, I think Dr. Obied is great!!!! but the follow up care needs some work. This could be just my experience because I did have some much outside help that the staff at Hurley felt I didn't need any extra attention.

My first impression of Dr.Obeid is that he is very confident in his abiliteis stating his current position as cheif of trauma for Hurley Hospital. I've only met him on the day of my first consult. The staff seems to very helpful and committed to helping any way they can. The aftercare is very important and Dr, Obeid stress that life changes are a must do, and part of the success of the surgery. After care is talked about at the first consult and must be taken seriously and part of the success especially if your dealing with any emotional issues, that the support groups are there for added strength and support. The risks of the surgery were gone over and I had already been prepared about the risks from the education that I get from this wonderful web-site.I don't really beleive in rating people with numbers, but I would rate him at the top of his profession as very confident.I haven't had the experiance to say anything about his bed-side mannor yet but will comment after my surgery.

My first impression of Dr.Obeide was great!!
I felt comfortable he is upfront and honest I like that. The office staff was great very friendly answered all questions I had.
I feel that everyone should know about Dr.Obeide is for your consult there is a mandatory meeting w/all his patients that day.
The meeting is to discuss in detail the surgery risks and benefits and to answer any questions.I really liked the fact we met one on one and in the group setting.
Dr.Obeide really emphasized aftercare.
I will update more when I hopefully have gone farther.

I've only really met him the once... BUT! I have went to BTC before too. The surgeon I talked to there I just got a creepy, insecure feeling about her. And almost didn't get the surgery. Now... with Dr. Obeid... I really was very critical of everything he said. I instantly noticed that he was different. He took the time to go over everything in like a group setting where you could have questions answered that you yourself couldn't ask. I have no worries about his skill at all, being that he is the head of trama at Hurley. This to me already shows about the accomplishments he has made. I'm not sure what else to write... maybe I could tell you more... as my surgery get closer.

Dr Obeid is a great man. I would suggest him to any person thinking of the surgery. He is very good about talking to the family after surgery. The only think that happened, and it was not his fault, was that all during the surgery the nurse liason would come out periodically and give my family updates. When the surgery was finished, the nurse came out and told my family that the doctor wanted to see then in the conference room. My husband and parents were petrified that something had happened and he wanted to tell them alone and not infront of others.(The nurse was supposed to tell them the surgery was over, and went fine, but that Dr. Obeid wanted to talk to them alone) Dr. Obeid feels that all information should be for the family and the family only. There was nothing wrong with the surgery and he just wanted to talk to them without others listening. I think that this is a great way to respect patient wishes and let them know what is happening.
