Julie Leverton Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I was very impressed with Dr. Leverton. She was very aproachable and considerate. I was impressed with her knowledge and experience. She has done over 300 open RNYs. What impressed me even more was her sugestion that I was an excellent canidate for lapro. She advised me that they only do open,but there were doctors in dallas. This leads me to believe that her patients are more important to her than to make money. The whole staff was very nice and they had someone there that has had the surgury. She took me in a room and answered all my questions. Dr. Leverton had performed her surgury also. I am very confident in Dr. Leverton and the hospital.

I had my initial consult at Bariatric treatment Center April 2,2002. When I first met Dr. Leverton I was impressed because she was very kind, knowledgable and took a lot of time to explain the procedure, both pre and post op. She answered all of the questions I could think of, and a lot of questions of my post-op best friend who was with me - who isn't even her patient!The office staff was great. I first met with Dr. Idhe's assistant who was filling in for Dr. Leverton's assistant. She asked questions about my medical history... and there were many, many questions, very thorough. After Dr. Leverton, I met with Kimberly, a post-op patient of Dr. Leverton's. It was like she was picked just for me. She is my same height and within 15 lbs. of me at her start weight. She even showed me her scar when I asked about it! She looked really great and healthy. I was very impressed with Dr. Leverton, I can't think of anything that I didn't like about her or the staff, honestly. She put a strong emphasis on aftercare, outlined exactly the times I would need to come in for follow-ups after surgery, explained how I will meet with a nutritionist to make sure I'll be getting the right nutrition post-op. I was told about what I could expect physically - from ALL possible risks/complications, to post-op depression to projected weight loss -she covered everything. I'm very impressed with Dr. Leverton - she told me she is double board certified in General Surgery, and that was very good to hear. Plus she has a pleasant, energetic attitude. I look forward to being a patient of BTC and Dr. Leverton.

I met with Dr. Leverton on 2/21/02. I liked Dr. Leverton and found her to be very professional and knowledgable. She was thorough in her explanations and answered all my questions. In fact, she answered many of my questions even before I had the opportunity to ask them. She really stressed that this is only a tool and not the cure all. She also emphasized the importance of aftercare and following the program after surgery.

I think the only downside of my visit with the doctor was that during her explanation of the surgery process, I felt like I was in a class lecture rather than her talking directly to me. However, after she sat down and I began asking questions, it became more one on one.

As for the staff, everyone was nice and friendly from the moment I enetered the office.

I would recommend Dr. Leverton and the BTC in Wylie for anyone thinking of having WLS.

Over time i felt like I was not just another patient, But a friend who needed help .
Her staff and everyone at the hospital were great,I have no complaintsshe has been wonderful, and very understanding. Future patients should know that she is very good
at what she does and it shows in her interviews one on one,My aftercare was great
If I called for any little thing she would say come on in and let me check you out,Her aftercare program was great ,her staff is also so helpful, in addressing my surgery she made me feel I could do it and I did she made me feel comfortable in my decision and my decision to do it, I would rate her a 10
I feel she has great manners and great surgery competence.
I would do it again only if Dr. Leverton was my surgeon.

I liked Dr Leverton right off, she seems full of life and I little hyper.
I have another visit to go over after surgery care, so I am not sure how they are with this.
Risks of the surgery were discussed and all my questions were answered.

I was impressed with Dr. Leverton. She was very friendly and tried her best to explain the whole process and to answer all the millions of questions I had. The staff at Bariatric Treatment Centers in Wylie are superb. They were all knowledgible and polite. I must admit, I was also happy to note that Dr. Leverton was petite, (smaller hands seemed less invasive to me) and this made me feel better than having a male surgeon with LARGE hands! I can't really tell you much more at this time, but I will write back after my surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Leverton was "hey, she's just too young, can't possibly have enough experience"! She was great tho, answered every question I had and then some. Explained the risks thoroughly. Had me completely at ease just shortly after we sat down together. The staff at BTC was wonderful too, never once looked at me like I was... well, ya'll know those looks. Dr. Leverton definately emphasized aftercare, and they do have a program that I will have to adhere to, yuck, but will be well worth it :) Overall, Dr. Leverton doesn't rate... she's off the charts! Although I would much prefer surgical competence, she seems to be able to blend that along with a great bedside manner into her practice nicely. I really don't have any thing negative to say at this point, and I hope to be able to keep it that way!

10/17/01 (IN ADDITION) I am post op now, but just had to let you know about my stay at the BTC hospital. Dr. Leverton never let me down, continued to stay just as attentive as she was in the begining. The staff at the hospital surprised me, they were every bit as attentive as Dr. Leverton (I didn't think it could be any better). These women that work at the hospital are so much more than just nurses, they became friends. They came in and brushed my hair, ohhh'ed and ahhh'ed over my 7 y.o. son and gave him a popsickle, and they treated me like a princess. I almost hated to go :)

1/11/02 (IN ADDITION) I had to see Dr. Ihde today, was having lots of tummy aches, he immediately found a hernia. I just wanted to let you know that if my wonderful Dr. Leverton is away, the terrific Dr. Ihde is a great one too :) On the phone... he's not much of a talker, in person he is something else! He was very personable, treated me just like I was one of his own :)

Dr. Leverton was very professinal and clear. Took the time to answer any question I had. The office staff was wonderful. Extremly helpful and patient.

I also like the way she took the time to discuss questions my family had the day of the surgery. She took her time and was very clear.

I saw her several times after surgery. Her surgical competence and bedside manner are both top notch.

She has a heavy emphasis with aftercare. I was given a binder with all the information I would need on every element of recovery and starting a new way of life. There are nutritioniosts and respitory therepists to aid in recovery. These are extremely helpful and encouraging.

My consultation was today 2/01/02, my first impression of the BTC was that the hospital was alot smaller than i expected, when we arrived in the dr's office it was freezing, the ac was broke.. but after I got back to see her things went fine.. I was impressed with Dr. Leverton, she does seem genuily compasionate to you and tells you the option of having it done lap although she doesnt offer it at this time! My husband and I brought in a long list of questions to ask, she answered every single one, she was very patient, I believe i would trust her to be a great surgeon..

I met with Dr. Leverton on Friday, January 4th.
My first impression of her was that she really
knew what she was doing and shows a lot of
compassion for her patients. I've only met with
her once as I am still waiting on insurance
approval. She addresses EVERYTHING - aftercare,
the risks, what to expect, etc. I would HIGHLY
recommend Dr. Leverton, even after only meeting
with her once! The only negative thing I can
say is that I had to wait a L O N G time and I
was there for about three hours.
