I think that Dr. Quinlin is a wonderful Doctor. When I first met him he was kind of matter of fact, that was at first consult. The second time that I met with him I had a whole page of questions and he asnswered every single one. He will ansewer questons and give you all the time that you need. I even took my parents with me becuase they had concerns and he anwered all of their question too. He has a nutritionist that works with him in his office and she is very helpful and you can call her any time. Dr. Quinlin had a structered aftercare program with what to eat at differant stages. I would rate Dr. Quinlin as a 9, that is only because he tends to be a quiet, but also very direct and to the point. He is a wonderful surgeon. I was only in the hospital 2 days and he came in and checked on me 4 times.(you don't get that from every doctor). Dr. Quinlin's surgical competence is awesome! As of Feb 2003 he told me that he has done over 700 Lap RNY's. His bedside manners are also good. Everyones personality is differant, so you may feel differant about him, but this was just my overall experience.

My first impression of Dr. Quinlin was yes, he's the one for me. I had appointments with about 3 other surgeons in the area "just in case". Very helpful office staff. I was approved very quickly (I have Health America) and as long as you know what your insurance expects (prior) get going; as not to be waiting a long time for surgery. I am just a week post-op and cannot say enough good things about Dr Quinlin and his staff. He listens and spends as much time with you as you need. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. So far all has been smooth on my journey.

dr quinnlan is a very good dr.. has great concern for his patients...great in decsribing the procedure...explains the aftercare very well...he has a great in office nutritionist who is very willing to help over the phone...
he did explain the risks involved very well( i was aware of the risks of not having the surgery so i was prepared to take the risks of not having it done)
to me dr quinnlan is in the 9-10 range...comes highly recomended among his peers... his surgery was fast...80-90 min lap rny and explained very well to my family afterward how it went and how it was done...he also accepted calls from my family about the procedure to help in the worrying they were doing about the surgery.
all in all i would recommend dr quinnlan to anybody seeking the procedure!!!!

Dr. Quinlin is absolutely the most wonderful doctor. I heard nothing but glowing comments about him in the hospital and his reputation is well deserved. He always answers all my questions and seems to genuinely care about your wellbeing. His staff is professional and handles everything you need. All in all, my entire experience has been pleasant and smooth. Here is a doctor who really cares!

Dr.Quinlin is a very nice and caring person who is very interested in the well being of his patients. He answered all the questions i had for him and then answered some i didnt even ask. He explained the surgery and all the risks associated with it and made sure that this was what i wanted before going any further. His office staff were very helpfull with all the insurance aspects of the surgey. I found it hepfull tohave a list of questions for the Dr. I was a high risk due to my size 667pds but Dr.Quinlin was able to perform my surgery laproscopically..He is checking into it but he thinks i was the largest patient nationally to be done laproscopically..So in my book he is the best...On a scale of 1 - 10 i rate hi a 15..One other thing he gets right to the point with no beating around the bush..Theonly bad thing is that he didnt have a scale that would weigh me in his office but that has since been changed..

DR. QUINLIN IS A FABULOUS MAN!! My first impression of him was that he appeared to be a well informed, kind, patient man and this impression was confirmed over time. His office staff is busy but caring and helpful and kind. There is really nothing about him that I dont like. I think he is the foremost doctor in Pittsburgh for WLS. He is knowledgeable about WLS and more than willing to share the knowledge. He is a kind and caring man, that was important to me, as some of the other WLS surgeons are more clinical and lack bedside manner. I am just beginning aftercare and it is not a real structured program. You are given guidlines and expected to follow them. He address the risks of the surgery and plays devils advocate by asking if you skill want to have the surgery! I think he is wonderful and would rate him very high. Dr. Quinlin's surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. God has sent this kind, caring, and excellent surgeon to help his WLS flock.

I find Dr. Quinlin to be a very compassionate, caring and skilled surgeon, and would recommend him highly. He will thoroughly and patiently answer any questions you have, and is very responsive when you call.

In my dealings with him and his office staff, I find it helpful to have my questions ready. There were some things that weren't addressed or addressed fully in their pre-visit packet and in the office visits, such as risk factors, size of pouch, experience, etc. I asked questions myself (came in with a page and a half of questions) and Dr. Quinlin answered all of them. You just have to ask.

Do your homework (research on this site and elsewhere on the internet, read books) so you know what to ask (what do you want to know?), and definitely go to the support group meetings as suggested - they are very valuable to gain additional information.

8-9-02 Today I met with Dr. Quinlan for my initial evaluation for my surgery. My first impression was all good. He is soft spoken and answered all my questions. His office staff appeared efficient and the wait was short.I am scheduled for a return visit in a few weeks and will get into alot more detail with him then. I'll add to this post at that time.

He was absolutely amazing. He is a kind and caring man. He takes his time and answers all questions. The wait to get an appt is definately worth his expertise.
