Robert Quinlin Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

My first impression found Dr. Quinlin to be reserved alittle. Overtime, especially post op he had a lot more to say. His office staff were very helpful. I would like future patients to be well informed prior to the initial visit, have your questions ready. He will take all the time necessary to discuss anything on your mind but if there are not any questions you may have a very brief initial visit. Aftercare is a must. You have to know what you are getting into. Dr. Quinlin's group has an information seminar and also a support group. I received alot of info. pre op to review related to post op care. I was so interested I feel like I educated myself with the info. and did more research. Dr. Quinlin was very intense to discuss risks. I would give him a ten overall.

My first impression of Dr Quinlin came from the group informational meeting I attended. He said something I have tried to explain to others all my life---you can live without cigarettes, liquor, drugs, gambling, or whatever it is you are addicted to, but you can not live without FOOD! He knew that we are addicted to food, and made NO JUDGEMENTS!
He is very experienced, with over 1000 of these procedures, he is quiet, but very observant........I feel very at ease with him being the person to do this surgery.
I know that he requires a comprehensive aftercare plan.

My first impression of Dr. Quinlin was this is a very straight forward, no-nonsense surgeon who provides results for the patients he treats. My PCP highly recommended him and he was 100% correct. I did noy even bother with any second opinions. The office staff is equally impressive which is no surprise. Prior to the surgery I was fully aware of the post-op program and believe me, Dr. Quinlin is very serious about following the program to the letter. I had a complete understanding of all the risks involved with the surgery and was confident that Dr. Quinlin would do everything to insure those risks would be kept to a minimum. Overall I would rate Dr. Quinlin as EXCELLANT!!!

Met with Dr. Quinlan and his extremely professional and friendly staff in May...VERY impressive!!!! Everyone I met was very knowledgable and willing to answer any and all questions I had!!! Dr. Q made sure that i completely understood the procedure and that I was 100% sure that I was ready to do this...my answer...DEFINATELY!!!!!! MD was very knowledgable and supprotive. Doc made sure that i knew the risks and benefits of the surgery.....OR date is tentatively Sept. 17th, 2003...Let the countdown begin!!!:) I belive that the doc in extremely knowledgable and proficcient in his skills....Definately would reccommend him to perspective patients!!!!! I don't recall him stressing an aftercare program, but I do know that is the plan.....

Dr. Quinlan is very nice, but firm. He wants to make sure you are making the right decision for yourself. He stresses this is a serious operation. His office staff is nice and very helpful. My surgery date was originally scheduled for October 2003 but has been moved up to September 2003. I was happy to get that news. Dr. Quinlan stresses the pros and cons of the surgery, especially the cons - aftercare is always talked about. Nutrition is stresses even before your surgery. Dr. Quinlan has a very very good reputation among physicians here in Pittsburgh. I feel very comfortable with him being my surgeon.

I first met with Dr Quinlin in February 2003 after a 3 month wait for an appointment. I was referred by my PCP who said that he had a very good reputation and was an understanding and gentle man. Her husband is an anestheseoligist and has been in the operating room with Dr Quinlin. I met with him again on April 1 after a gallbladder ultrasound, an upper GI , psychiatric evaluation, letter of medical necessity from my PCP and nutritionist consult. At that time I was scheduled for surgery. Both appointments were very brief but he was willing to answer any questions and said if my husband or myself had any questions to please call him. I found his office staff to be courteous and efficient at processing my insurance.

FIRST IMPRESSION HE IS STRAIGHT FORWARD. VERY THOROUGH. AND HAS A GREAT PERSONALLITY. WHEN IT WAS DONE AND I LOST ALL THIS WEIGHT I ACTUALLY BECAME SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS HELP I HUGGED HIM.IMPRESSION HAS NOT CHANGED. HE IS A WONDERFUL SURGEON.OFFICE STAFF IS WONDERFUL AND VERY KIND AND PLEASANT.NOTHING.BE PAITIENT. IT WILL HAPPEN. HE SI VERY BUSY. BUT HE TAKES TIME OUT TO CALL YOU WHEN YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.HE IS A STICKLER ON AFTERCARE. HE WILL TELL YOU WHAT CAN HAPPEN AND WHAT MAY HAPPEN.I THINK SO..WHEN I HAD MY SURGERY I DIDNT KNOW. BUT I AM SURE THERE IS NOW. HE ADDRESSES THE RISKS OF SURGERY FORWARDLY AND WITH OUT HESITATION. MAKE SURE THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO. YOU CANNOT TURN BACK.HOW WOULD I RATE DR QUINLIN OVERALL? WONDERFUL. HE IS A VERY CARING DOCTOR.BOTH SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER ARE GREAT.NOTHING REALLY NEGATIVE. JUST BE CAREFUL ON WHAT YOU EAT. GO SLOWLY CAUSE YOU WILL THROW UP IF FOOD GETS LODGED. IF IT DOES THEY TELL YOU NOT TO DRINK POP. I NOW CAN BUT GINGERALE IS A LIFE SAVER. IT DISLODGES FOOD GREAT CAUSE IF IT GETS STUCK YOU COULD THROW UP AND BE IN ALOT OF PAIN. YOU JUST DONT WANT TO DO THAT.

Had my consult appointment. Filled out some forms and was called back to met Dr Quinlin within 20 minutes. Meeting was brief but was told to bring questions next meeting. Got info on what pre-op testing I needed to scheudule. The one thing I did like was that all of the waiting room seats were nice and wide to accomodate fuller figured patients. It does take a while to get that initual first appointment (took me 5 months) but after that it seems things move much quicker, and the plus side of that is that you get PLENTY of time to research and think about bariatric surgery. Don't have much to rate him on at this point, but so far Dr. Quinlin and his staff seem very effecient and competent, I felt comfortable with my decision to go with Dr. Quinlin.
