2010 Goal: MAINTENANCE ALL YEAR LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Submitted by: happylapbander

I also hope everyone's had a great holiday season and wish a Happy New Year to all!!
I plan on getting more active now that I'm on my loser's journey, and to be able to keep up with my husband when we go to our first dance (since surgery) in April. He loves Footloose, and I've never been able to keep up with him...now will be my time!! I think it might even be time by then for a new dress, as none in my closet now should fit by then! We're going to sign up for some dance lessons soon, because he's much better than I am and I have to learn not to lead!!

This is the year I continue to build on the new me that I started with my choice to get the band. I will continue to increase my exercise time and weights, continue to monitor my intake and work to increase the number of things that I finally get around to doing; like trying something new or revisiting an old hobby or healthy habit. (church, reading, gardening, time with friends) I also intend to work on completing my most recent children's book and if all goes as expected to see about having it published (God willing).
My number one goal is to continue working to build a better me and praising God in the process. :)

To become one SEXY MAMA!!! lol
My surgery is coming up so my new life is beginning. 2009 was not a good year as I lost my brother in June to a massive heart attack at 54. I plan on losing weight, exercising, and changing my life totally.

To live a fuller (no pun intended), happier, healthier life...which i now can do...oh, and to convince my wife that the toilet paper should roll under and NOT over...

My goal is to push myself beyond my comfort zone with exercise so I can see results and to eat healthy!
- Submitted by andrea73

I'm joining a new gym today, so that is goal number one. The other was so far from my home that I ended up not going.
My main goal is to make my weight loss goal -I have 41.5 pounds to go. My second mini goal (joining a new gym was #1) is to get below 200 pounds by my surgiversary which is March 16th. I have 17.5 pounds to lose to be at 199.5!
I believe that you should have one main goal, and several time lined mini goals that take you in that direction. You are much more likely to succeed that way.
- Submitted by fiveholts714

What a great question, I would like to continue the weight loss and make 40kg. As well as coming off some more of my medication.
Definately shift my bum in gear and get the exercise happening again.

Oh many goals...
Mostly i want to be happy- i want to physically feel better and be able to go out and rock the gym. I want to tone up and really get out there- possibly start running.
I would love to get my husband to eat more healthy- i've taken care of myself but i want him to share a long life with me.
I want to wear heels... omg! I would love to wear some sexy black heels and a sexy black dress for xmas next year!!!!!
But my short term goal is by spring be in Onederland!!!! 31 lbs more to go... i know its possible, just keep my eyes on the prize. 2010 is going to be a fantastic year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Submitted by Nadine M.
Like you, Kathy, I would like to eat clean and look forward to exercise (instead of dreading it). Doing this will help me also to reach my weight goal in 2010.
- Submitted by Goody
Hmmmmm, 2010, I don't set goals for any year. I set a goal back in November to get rid of the extra weight I put on in the last few years and I am over half way there so I guess I plan on being at the end of the goal in 2010. Once I hit that goal, I may just set a goal to get to the lower weight that is on my Ticker, I know that is where the doctor originally wanted me, I'm still not sure that is what I want so any weight below my first goal will be the one I want ! I have already started eating properly, most of the time, I do allow myself to step off the wagon once in awhile,
I guess the other one is to have my batwings fixed this year, I go to see a PS on Friday. This is the major issue I have had since I had my weight loss. If this goes well I have a little niggle in my brain that says I might want to have a panni, but that is still only a niggle. My year is so busy I can only do one thing at a time.
Looking forward to the new year and what it brings !

Since I am only 16 days out, I have a ton of goals for 2010, but my first goal is to get back in gear and get to the gym as soon as I am cleared to go. I tried last week and exausted myself. I want to make sure that I stick to my plan and hope to meet my goal weight by my 1 year anniversary.
- Submitted by Kyle H.

hmmmm... Lets see; I certainly want to stay on track and lose the last 20 lbs that I want to lose. I WILL stay on track and lose the last 20 lbs!
I want to be able to look back at the year and see that most of the time I felt my health and weight were more important than whatever was tempting me.
I WILL think before I eat. I will plan ahead and be prepared.I want to learn not to run to food to comfort me. If I'm annoyed I need to find something else that will make me feel better. (I get depressed and/or annoyed easily)
I want to feel confident with my body. I don't want to have to pull my shirt down over my roll all the time.
I WILL do at least 1 hour of core exercises a week. (no not every day - that is not realistic for me, would never happen.) It would be nice if I didn't have to be so focused on food every day. I know that not focusing won't work for me so I guess I want to be able to accept that I can't take my eye off the ball, ever.
I WILL plan ahead and always have protein readily available.

I want to enter at least one horse show by the end of the 2010 season. I've started leasing a very good show prospect, and am anxious to see how we both progress. Right now, I get winded easily when riding....gotta get that cardio back up there. :) Also, I would love to take some salsa dancing with my husband.

I'd like to get closer to my goal weight, fit comfortably in my cloths and in my skin, and be happy with my choices when I make them, and especially AFTER I make them.

Were do I want to be by 2010 December 31 11:59pm?
With the start of this new year I took stock of myself and saw were I falter and slipped up. I realized my mistakes and with new motivation and promises I am keeping my eye on the ball. I am proud of the achievement so far but I know I could have done better. There were too many days were I didn't follow the band rules. So on that night I want to look back and say I really did my best to reach my goal.
To do that, I have to:
Never take a day off from following the band rules. Challenges come along inevitably, but how I respond to them determines who I am - deep down inside - and everything I am going to be. Everyday I may not win, but I need to know what it takes to be a winner.
I want to have reached Goal!
I what to have written in my journal my thoughts, dreams, and wishes I at least once a week.
I want to see more 100% days written at the bottom. So I can look back of this year and read who I was and what I was thinking during this part of the journey.
I want to be a better person to myself.I want to like exercising (Oh who am I kidding I will never like exercising)
I want to look in the mirror and see the person on the outside that I have always know was on the inside.
I want to Rock 2010 because 2011 I will be 50 and married 20 years. We want to fly to Italy to celebrate these milestones. Welcome 2010 I am ready to face these challenges and with my band I am almost there!

Before WLS was a glimer in my eye at around 325lbs I got the notion that I was going to WALK a 1/2 marathon. Well that was 2007 and my motivation or lack thereof was not there. Here I sit now 2 years post WLS, the "smallest" I've ever been in my adult life and with the inspiration of Monica P, Kirsten and Kevin A. on the California forum. I WILL be completing a 1/2 Marathon in October 2010.
I'm in training now and can't wait to post about it. I remember October 2008 I fit into my 9th grade cheerleader outfit (another former "fat" girl goal) and this year I'll cross another accomplishment off my list!!

Great question! I have decided that 2010 will be the year of health for me. No more letting myself go and making my health last priority. I just had my sleeve 12/10/09 and just got a gym membership today! Whoo hoo! Next on my list is to make a dentist appointment since it has been way too long and to follow up with doctors regarding other minor issues I have been procrastinating on. I don't mean this in a selfish way, but 2010 is going to be all about ME. If I am healthy in mind, body, and soul, then I will be a much better wife, friend and co-worker. And that is my goal!
- Submitted by blondie0803
My personal goal is to love and appreciate myself for who I am and not for whom I please or what I do. I want to be the voice of encouragement and hope to those seeking wls as a way to pay it forward to others. I'm going on 5 years post op and have become comfortable in my new body, it's the mental/attitude transformations that have been my greatest challenge lately.

I would first like to say Happy New Year to everyone. My personal goals for 2010 are,
1. To stay sane while I wait for the call from Humber regarding my first consult. (Yeah I am in the baby steps part of the journey!)and
2. To make it onto the losers bench by the end of the year (hopeful thinking, but my glass is always half full)
So, this is going to be my year, and I look forward to sharing it ALL with you!
Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year to all of you!

I am going to up the exercise and reach my goal weight this year. I lost 70lbs last year and I have 70lbs more until I reach my goal. :)
I started back to the gym yesterday and I am going back tonight. I have a schedule planned around my school schedule, once classes start, so I am good to go. I am working that schedule for the next couple of weeks so that I can have the it down once I do start classes again. :)

My goal for 2010 is to be an overall better me. This means improving different areas of my life and I truly feel that by improving each area I will in fact be the best me possible. WLS doesn't seem to be in my near future since the insurance coverage I seem to get never covers it. I've realized that I can't sit around waiting for it so I'm jump starting my own weight loss. Here is my 2010 goal list....
Eat healthier
Exercise more
Sleep more
Read more
Stress less
Focus more on my Spirituality
My favorite part of my 2010 goal list is that I plan to do or say something kind for or to someone as well as do one kind thing for myself. I believe that all of my goals combined will lead to a happier and healthier me.
2010 my year to get rid of excuses and make things happen!!

My personal goal is to run a half marathon this year...but that has been derailed by broken ribs that I keep re-injuring. It is driving me crazy! I have not been "working out" since September. I am still very conscious of moving as much as I can and not getting lazy and taking stairs and all that, but am very worried about not having been in the gym. I was going to join a gym again last month, however, one of my pooches needed emergency surgery, so that money is gone baby gone. My pooch? She is right as rain! So, I guess, I need to rearrange my goal to be getting my ribs healthy enough to do the workouts and get running again??!!

I am still pre-op, but I have several goals that I WILL meet this year!
1st is to lose the 1st 50 pounds myself before WLS so that I KNOW that I can do this! :-) (Only 15 more to go!)
2nd. To become a healthier mom! I want to be there for my young daughter, watch her grow. Lay in the grass and roll around with her, with out feeling out of breath, or winded.
3rd. Also want to be healthy state of mind! Just feel better inside and out. I know that I am going to need counseling, I have always abused food, and I am FINALLY learning to manage it!

To work on seeing the glass half full more than half empty

2010 for me will be continuing what I started in 2008--working towards a healthier, happier me. I'm now at goal and working out regularly. By the end of the summer, I want to have had plastic surgery. I want to complete the 1/2 marathon in VA Beach in Sept. 2010. I have as a goal to do a couple of 5ks in the spring/summer of 2010.
Definitely TP should be over!

My goal for 2010 is to have my surgery and at least be a size 14 by July 4th weekend so I can participate in my best friend's wedding. I don't have a surgery date yet so we will see! Everyone please pray for me!

1. To make exercise a priority and a daily habit (4-6 times a week at least).
2. To journal every single day my diet and exercise and daily goals.
3. I have somewhere between 70 and 90 pounds more to lose, not sure where I'll be happy, and I don't want to put a time limit on weight loss because that always leads to disappointment. But I want to be working toward losing the rest of my excess weight in a significant way in 2010!
4. Conquer head hunger and this powerless feeling I deal with on a daily basis!
5. Get out and have more fun, experience new things. Meet new people.

My surgery is Monday, so five days to go. My goal for this year is to finally make this a year to work on myself in all aspects of my life, physically, mentally and spritually. I need to regain my health and mobility and lead a full and rewarding life. No more excuses, no more putting things off, letting go and letting others look after me for a change. I also hope to be a good role model and encourager to a couple of dear young friends who are contemplating this surgery. I hope by September 2010, my 41st wedding anniversary to be down 100 lbs and be able to dance again.Hopefully this will also encourage my husband to eat better and drop the 40 or so pounds he need to loose. I won't be cooking so much or have goodies in the house so I see that as accomplishable. This is a new year and a new start for me.
Wishing you all a joyous and successful new year in what ever endevours you choose.
God bless and keep you

My goal for this year is to challenge myself with 10k, 5k, half-marathons and even a sprint triathalon in the summer. I am also going to start running and cycling. I have already made commitments to some events this year and by doing that, it keeps me motivated, and actively working to accomplish those goals all while staying healthy!

My goal for this year is also to get back on track! i was 2 years out on december 19th 2009 but with all the stress ive been going through since August (im getting divorced) I've gained 20 pounds, I stopped exercising and got wayyyyy off track with my vitamins and protein etc. i had started drinking diet soda, I stopped that and had my last soda on New Year's Eve. I've been getting up every morning and working out and ive been having at least one protein shake a day and taking my vitamins and supplements. im really trying to focus on eating better than i was and stop with the snacking. night time is really my downfall cause i love to snack in the evening. So those are my goals, to basically start taking care of myself again. another part of my problem is I have no insurance right now so i wasnt able to go to my year and a half or 2 year checkups with my surgeon. hopefully I will be reinsured in March and will be able to see my pcp and my surgeon.

I want to:
~ Run the 5K Komen for the Cure race this May in San Antonio. (I'm not a runner AT ALL so I am going to start training for it next week.)
~ Compete in my son's school Parent/Child Triathalon with him (last year my neighbor volunteered to go with him) also in May.
~Successfully finish my Bachelor's degree in May and fly back to Maryland to walk the stage.
~I'd like to get at least 1/2 way to my goal weight.
~It would be really nice to top off the year by jumping into my new career field (from the degree) and meeting a nice somebody to share my life with.

To reach my weight goal for the first time in my life. I've been on a diet since I've been 11 years old. All I managed to do was yo-yo and get fatter. For the first time, I know that with time, I will reach my goal weight, be fit, wear clothes in a single digit that can be purchased in any store, and have the confidence to know that I will be able to maintain that. I love my band!!

You took the words "right out of my mouth" but not my post. Like you. I want to get "back on track". I especially want to get back into a better routine for working out. There are a few things in my way (my Sunday morning "gym" a.k.a. my basement is currently undergoing renovation - it's been a great excuse, but NO MORE!)
But I also want to find new ways to be on track. I've been doing the same thing for so long it feels rote, and is therefore easy to slip....
I'm not looking for drastic changes, just some fresh ideas. That's why I keep coming back to the boards, since members, old and new alike always have something different to share that may just be the thing I'm looking for to send me in a new direction to the same end result.
Thanks for the post and the encouragement!

I'm looking forward to keeping up my good habits. I've been managing a good diet with moderate amounts of treats here and there and I'm happy with my choices.
I am also looking forward to returning to the gym - I had hernia repair and am waiting for clearance from my surgeon. I'm planning to run a 10 Mile race in April! I plan to run more races in the fall to keep up my training.
I've also got a consult with the plastic surgeon next month! It's a big year!

I have two so far -
One is to exercise/work out 100x this year. I have a group of people I work out with on Mondays & Wednesdays (and have since September), so there's actually an underlying plan here. This way if I skip a week, I haven't blown my resolution.
The second is do try twelve new things this year. Life sometimes becomes a bit too routine, so this will encourage me to try something new - whether it be cooking a new dish, a craft I've never done, a new type of workout (like yoga), or reading a trashy romance novel when I normally have my head buried in mystery or suspense novels. The what doesn't matter so much as the effort to choose the untried. I can guarantee that sky-diving will NOT be on this list, however. Some amount of sanity is still required ;)

Wow, goals for 2010...
As far as weight loss goes I hope to reach my goal weight of 190 before the end of the year. Now that I'm able to excercise I plan on joing a gym with my wife so we can work on getting more fit. She's real close to her goal weight now and I bet a few months in the gym will do it for her. It will take me longer as I have more to lose but I'm quite hopefull.

My goal for 2010 is to focus on the positive rather than the negative; to have gratitude for all that is good with my life and in the world around me; to try to have compassion for those who are struggling rather than being judgmental; and to own my happiness and not base my feelings of self-worth on the actions of others.
Easy to type, not so easy to implement, but I am working on it.

In 2010, I will reach my goal weight somewhere around 150 or 160 lbs. I'll know when I get there. I will continue to increase my exercise and will end 2010 in better shape than I have ever been. Right now, I weigh 218...haven't been there in about 24 years I think...not since my freshman year of high school. My next goal is to get into the 100's...haven't been there since middle school. GO ME!!

I have a lot of things that I need to work on, but my two main goals are to exercise at least 30 minutes a day and got to the gym at least 4 times a week. I know I could be doing much better & losing so much more if I exercised regularly. My other goal is to eat healthier. I make pretty good food choices, but tend to allow myself treats too often.
Here's to a great New Year! New Year, New You!!

I just found your group and am so excited. This is exactly what I need. I have not come online to the obesityhelp website since 2007. I did better with a support group. I never gave up on my band. I recognized it was my food choices (sliders), drinking with eating and lack of excercise that caused some wt gain but my band prevented massive wt gain. Alot of people at the hospital where I work are getting bands. I tell them I am a success because the band works and it is there for me when I choose to get back on track.
Well, I decided- then found your group!!!! Thank you!!!!
My goal is to follow band rules and begin a slow wt loss. I want to start excercising again to.
I actually started eating right yesterday. I guess my band decided it was time. It got tight, I ate little and had lots pbing so hey, why not now!!!

My personal goals for this year revolve around getting back "in the groove" with my exercise and food choices. I used to work out 5 times a week -- I plan on getting back to it again. I have already begun! :) Food choices: I am tracking again, like I used to, and am working hard to focus on protein and getting all of my fluids in.

I am turning 60 in a few weeks, so I am facing a new year AND a new decade! Although I'm tempted to be a little depressed about turning 60, I know so many people who are battling diseases--as well as friends & acquaintances who have passed away WAY too early--so I am embracing my age and being grateful for it!
For 2010, I want to get much of my re-gained weight off. I don't think I will be able to maintain my lowest weight (which was NOT "skinny" but would be very hard for me to maintain); however, if I lost 50-60% of WHAT I RE-GAINED, I'd be satisfied & comfortable.
In 2010, I also am getting BOTT w/ my vitamins. This past year I really got lazy with that, and the past couple mo., this completely fell by the wayside, which I thought I'd never say. This week I have started back w/ everything.
In 2010, I am also getting BOTT w/ my exercise. Went back to the gym this week.

I hope to gain my life back to enjoy with my husband and children. I have been missing out on many fun activities due to my limitations based on energy and size. Through using tools that I will put in my life, like the lap-band, the gym and support personnel, I want to lose the excess weight and gain energy, ambition, and laughs with my family.

My first goal is to have the VSG without letting others guilt, talk or whatever me out of it. My date is Feb. 5th now so I have 30 days to stay strong. My 19 year old is sticking up for me now and that has helped a lot. Now after I get the first and most important goal done then I have four small goals and the last being the ultimate goal.
1: Get to onederland (40+ lbs)
2: Get to 160 (80+ lbs)
3 Earn my 100 lbs gold banner
4: Weigh 132 lbs. Which is about a little higher then mid point for my weight class and what I weighed when I graduated high school. (Yeah I know this is really close to the third goal)
I don't want to set my goal of loosing 100 lbs and not quiet make it. As I met each goal it will pump up the will to go further. If I don't get there then that can always be a 2011 goal. (And I will keep telling myself that)

My goal for the year is not slow down educating people about insulin resistance. Sometimes I feel like the board pain in the butt. But then a message arrives telling me about how somebody's weight has started to roll off after starting metformin, and I keep going.
Maybe my goal for the year should be to get a sticky post about IR on all the boards. It's a crime that the medical community rarely treats this, and instead blames the patient for being fat.
- Submitted by TeriJ
To be more forgiving. To put me first. And to try more things that I always said lil fat girls can't do...:)
I've always let being a "little fat girl" dictate decisions... did I want to get on the playground equipment in front of people and be goofy? Did I want to complain at the restaurant.. because won't they just think I'm an obese person complaining about food? Will I want to go into the running shop and ask to be fitted for running shoes? All these things that held me back back back back back...
And to also not be afraid of failure... nothing is a failure, it's just one more step towards completing a goal... I've let failures rule me for too long.
