Biopsy yesterday

Sep 23, 2017

So, week whatever this was has been a dud.

I've been sick for a month, 3 weeks of bronchitis and 1 week of flu.  I just started feeling better and yesterday had to have 2 weird growths removed from my upper back, one near each shoulder.

I was anxious about the procedure all week, and the antibiotics I was on last week uspet my stomach so I ate more carbs than I would have otherwise, in the form of digestive cookies and soda crackers.  My weight dropped 1 Lb by Tuesday but by Wednesday it was back up to last week's weight, so no change.

The biopsies were not as bad as I expected.  The freezing part felt hot, and then a poke, like getting bit by a horsefly, but once the freezing took effect I didn't feel any pain, just some pressure.  Yesterday when the freezing wore off I had pain.  I took some tylenol 3's and I don't know if they're too strong for me now or what (I took them all the time preop), but I felt super dizzy and nauseated after taking them.

I tried out a recipe for sugar free 0 carb gummy bears and almost passed out making them. They're made with SF jello and geletin and only half a cup of water, and they taste just like jello but have the texture of a gummy bear.  The flavor is too intense for my liking so maybe next time I'll use extra geletin and only half a pack of jello, to reduce the intensity.

I'm feeling down because of the news lately; hurricanes, fires, floods, threats of nuclear war between Trump and Kim, etc.  I need to distract myself.  I'd normally go for a soothing swim but can't swim for 2 weeks, until the stitches on my back come out.

I'm sure I'll feel better emotionally once I'm feeling better physically.  It has been hard for me to go so long without exercise while being sick, and the anxiety about the biopsies didn't help.  I'm not anxious about the results; I'm sure it will be fine.  Still very sore today; I guess she had to dig deep to get the growths out because it hurts all the way down to my muscles.
