My parents actually asked if I had ever thought about it. I had many times, but never seriously, but I had gained a LOT of weight within a couple years and was shocked when I had a doctor's appointment and realized that I was up to 404 pounds. Everything hurt all the time and I couldn't walk a block without effort.

Hello :) I know that your post was written a year ago--as a reply even older posts--and you might not be checking this site anymore :) but I kept getting this thread in my Google results when I looked up IC and GBP vitamins.

I'm presently in the several months of qualifying appointments and while my surgeon's office puts me through the official months of not very useful visits with nurses and support groups, I'm focusing on the trial and error I need to do with GBP vitamins and protein to be sure I am not post surgery and in a flare and trying to trial food full of whey and other for me bladder nos (it sounds like this happened to you? I hope you found your way to better :) and I'm sorry--I feel the terrible that must have been to think you were being responsible with the surgery and find yourself feeling worse).

I've had IC since 2013, but it's not my only autoimmune condition :) I have a list.

I found another forum post somewhere that recommended Vega protein for IC people. I am having no issues with the low ingredient chocolate one--yet. I make it with a cup of low fat oat milk and a half a cup of ice. I wi**** was higher in protein (only 15) and I've tried it with Ripple (a pea protein milk) and maybe that's ok too. There is also Naked Pea which is a protein with only pea in it :) their trial packets are out but I'm guessing it's a good IC choice for people who are good with pea protein.

The Vega is made with real sugar--which the rules everyone else follows says no to :) but I'm trying to see weightloss surgery as a chance to pick right for me choices.

I gained my weight when I lost the world of low fat high protein I had lived as a teen and young adult on. I loved my protein shakes, bars, and flavored water...also skim milk, reduced fat cheese, and fat free salad dressing. When I couldn't eat those things anymore it didn't make sense. Those were healthy foods. Now I had to eat vegetarian options full of coconut and palm--and so much bread and crackers and rice.

I didn't change the amount I ate to account for the different kind of fats and density in my safe foods (white french bread :) I lived on it and bottled water the first years). I didn't redefine healthy choices for me. I stayed angry. And I'm careful right now to not see an appointment with a nurition person at my surgeon's as a moment where I'm being told my foods, my body (disablity), are not normal healthy foods. I'm trying to think I can find healty for me within my right fit foods.

It is hard though :) I wish I didn't always feel so unexpected and bothersome.

I'd love to know the vitamins you settled on?

And any other get finds for your IC plus weightloss surgery puzzle.

My best find so far, apart from the Vega, is Hint :) it's a flavored water without bubbles :) that doesn't have citric acid added to create its flavors. You can buy trial packs online but it's also at Kroger, Walmart, and Costco. I like the watermelon :)

:) I'm glad my GBP adventure pushed me to look for a flat flavored water. It's a great safe, right for me add to my tiny food list. I hope there were some moments like that in your past year...even if not everything was better, I hope there was still growth and good things.

When i turned 40 Intokd my husband you can be young and fat or you can be old.....can't be both.

My endocrinologist also suggested it when he saw how diligent i was with my eating/working out and not losing anything

I was tired of being sluggish and living my life on the sidelines. I had gotten to the point where I didn't even want to visit family I hadn't seen in awhile because I was embarrassed of myself.

I had a case manager with my mental health stuff talk about her experience. We had been talking about me needing to lose weight. She sparked the idea. Also I was taking 5 shots of insulin a day...I'd say that was my biggest motivating factor.

I was having trouble controlling my type 2 and my gp said, you're young and healthy, have you considered gastric bypass? That was all it took for me to get started on the research and commit!
