I actually sought to have surgery about 2 yrs ago but failed to follow through because I was really worried about support. I finally found a surgeon that I felt had a good program and would give me all the tools I needed to lose this weight. I needed to have surgery so that I could be more active in my kids lives like playing with them and being an active parent at their school functions. My first non scale victory ( I had to look that one up) was being able to go to my daughters soccer game and cheering her on from the sidelines. I usually sat in my chair and yelled but I wanted to be that parent who got up and cheered for her as she made goals. I am happy to say that I have achieved that goal and many more and I am very thankful for the opportunity to have had this surgery.

I had my initial surgery because I literally thought I was going to die soon from my blood pressure issues. I'm getting scheduled for a conversion because I am worried about losing mobility. I think the biggest NSV will be walking without pain again.

I thought about and researched having WLS for two years. Aside from having comorbidities, the final straw was when one of my dogs got out and I couldn't run after it. I don't have any children but I have several nieces and nephews. What if I needed to run after one of them while I was babysitting?

I used to travel quite frequently to US Navy aircraft carriers to test their software. The NSV when I reached my goal weight was that I could maneuver up and down the ladders without huffing and puffing, having to take breaks between ladders. That was awesome! Of course a close second was being able to sit in Coach on an airline without having to stretch the seatbelt all the way out. Bonus!!!

It is very understandable to feel the way you do but after you lose even more weight, I bet you won't have an issue donating your clothes!

Basically, he is very ignorant on the process.

He also does not believe that anyone actually needs it, that it should just simply be a mind over matter to stop eating.

And he has stated that while he will support my decision to get weight loss surgery, he will not help facilitate it.

Sorry to read this.Did your GP explain why he won't consider referring you for weight loss surgery?

Did anyone else have difficulty time get rid of their old clothes after weight loss surgery.

no, I didn't have any trouble. I got rid of things as soon as they were baggy.

to me, keeping too big clothes around give me permission to gain the weight back again. If I know I have big clothes to go back into, I might let myself gain back into them.

No, did not have this issue. There are a few items of clothing that if I saw them in my new size, I would buy them again though! You're only a few weeks post op so probably still working through everything. Would definitely look to donate what you no longer need as soon as you are comfortable with it - I'm sure it's some kind of psychological safety net! It's hard to find larger clothes second hand sometimes, you may be doing a huge service to someone in need! ****pt one pair of pants to always remind me how far I've come).

The bible says if you have two coats, give one to a person who has none. I always donate clothes and other things that I am no longer using. It helps me to have a clutter free home and closets and helps a person who needs what I no longer do.
