Topic: RE: should i be concerned that my doctor told me i will be her biggest patient have a perform weight los

What kind of surgery have you decided on ?

Can you handle the lifelong vitamin and exercise requirements of a DS or distal RNY ?

And are you most importantly healthy and young enough to recover from essentially being hit by a Mack truck ? ( so my business partner who kindly visited me in the hospital every day, took me home and took care of me for about a month called what I looked like )

Because honestly I really don?t think the sleeve ( which is relatively easy and safe for the docs ) results in usually more than 70 lbs weight loss ... of which at least twenty gets regained .

You?re probably better off in the long run if you can tolerate a virgin surgery scaled right to what you need to lose .... and there are relatively few docs that do that with patients your weight and have a great track record.

They also have to have heavyweight gurneys ... beds , scales ... just the proper equipment and around- the clock team and hopefully they?re located near you in case of post op emergency ( I had one- a bowel twist from dehydration about fifteen days post op - I was VERY lucky that my surgical team took me in the middle of the night and infused me IVs and I didn?t have to get cut open again) .

I?m NOT trying to scare you ... this surgery is the best thing you?re ever going to do for yourself... but you?re facing a challenge. Make great decisions please!

You have to look totally openly and unjudgmentally at your favored eating habits to choose your best option.

Do you prefer ( or tolerate) a lot of fried or fast foods , greasy meats, cheeses and nuts or sugary , fatty desserts or both ?

If it?s the former you can go either way I think ... the second ... the best choice might be the RNY because most people dump.

I haven?t tried a REAL dessert since my marriage in Vegas and dumping from a molten chocolate covered fountain ice cream experience.

I definitely THINK about eating sugar ( like when I see tempting fresh gelato) and then my body remembers writhing on the floor for half an hour wanting to die .

In the long run it might be keeping my teeth from rotting and diabetes at bay ... not bad things .((()) hugs

Every doctor will have a patient that is their biggest patient.

Do your research, understand that surgeon's outcomes, ask questions that help you decide like "when you say I am the biggest, what does that mean? (5lbs bigger? 200 lbs bigger? both could be the answer and obviously one might have a bigger impact on your decision).

What accommodations or changes do they expect because of that? Ask if it raises their concerns -- if yes, ask why...if no, ask why. The statement that you are the biggest should just cause you do ask more questions.

Good luck!

Topic: REALLY thinking about things ... but why does this programming make nonsense out of my titles?

For instance.... how stoopid dieting is . Especially for a larger or athletic person.

I was like a photogenic weight maybe five times in my life .... always involved hours ( and months ) of strenuous exercise every single morning... a ten mile run or crazy long rollerblade ... and I always did the stop and stare in the deli ... look there?s a cookie ... look there are pistachio nuts I?m not allowed to eat .... and maybe a sandwich...

you know am I NUTS ? Someone would have loved me at whatever size ... I didn?t like myself ... I simply couldn?t accept myself.

I NEVER want my girls to feel that way .... and I look at pictures and just say you were SO pretty.... but obviously miserable.

todays food - fat free milk . Salsa . A bit of potato stix ( still less than 1/4 down in the first container after a week of grazing) .... maybe a bite of cold pizza . Seems like such a waste of food and money to get a lunch special and then ignore it and eventually throw it out . Very frustrated.

the cold cuts already went down the garbage hatch ****ouched) as did a chicken and broccoli lunch special .

I simply can?t eat anymore.... and the laugh is I would have given ANYTHING not to feel hungry years ago .

To be slim and sexy and under a hundred lbs ( not that that?s true even now ) ... but even then I worried what would happen to say my heart if I starved myself.

I have a few dancer friends ( not strippers but ballerinas and male ballet dancers ) and a few years after they retire ( at like 25-35) they usually have serious heart problems from starvation.

The heart muscle dissolves and is only adequate to supply blood to a ninety pound body ... and if she?s one-thirty after retirement it gets enlarged and eventually results in heart monitors and heart failure. No joke . super scary . The boys are often anorexic too ( or bulimic ) quiet as it?s kept .

There?s a guy on here ... he doesn?t post a lot but i believe he came from a big weight. And he?s smart and loved and kool n th gang and does something internet based . Smart as hell .

and the most amazing thing is... he?s here he?s loved and appreciated and we?re all cool .
we have way more in common than we don?t . There?s no size shaming here .

At all ... I know it?s hard to believe but you?re actually truly loved and appreciated for the person you actually are . It?s a love thing !

Call it hippie dippy ( which several boyfriends ( and political opponents) have called me and like EVERYONE on this website ) but I?m not ashamed of being an optimist and ... it feels WONDERFUL to really feel loved , appreciated and accepted.

If he?ll talk with U ... he?s got much more experience than I do ... I think he?ll reach out ....

And I?ll always b here for U ... and You?ll never trust m and it?s okay .

I ended up being a skinny ***** ( maybe a dying ***** ) ..... I mean REALLY?!!! Now I just have to work for health and youth and even EATING I guess...

No ! I give her formula and cream of wheat .... and just recently chewed up fresh mozzarella cheese which she swallows like an eager baby bird ( also homemade spinach , beet , carrot , applesauce and banana baby food ) .

My bigger almost one year old grrl has self toilet trained ( to the point I'm looking for tiny underwear because she no longer needs or wants a diaper... when she needs to pee every few hours she just jumps or rubs her legs together... ) and she loves chewed up hot dogs ( no teeth yet .... you can feel them but they can?t bite and haven?t broken through the gums ) and the same chewed up fresh cheese and salad ...

they seem pretty happy .... we all wake up together and they smile at me and hug me and get sat upon the toilet ( the bigger one Katy) and the little one fills her diaper and everyone gets a butt bath, a fresh diaper and a walk about outside ( after a meal ) . We?re just a normal family.

At this point, you have got to do what's BEST for you my dear new friend! If you feel this is a step you need to take then I would investigate EXCELLENT WLS surgeons. Not just anybody! Surgeons that have done over 15,000 Gastric Sleeves like Dr. Alverez at Endobariatrics or better yet a surgeon who does all WLS, Dr. Ortiz at OCC. These two really know weight loss surgery and they incorporate you into their WLS family and are "always" there to answer your questions. Cost is on their websites. They are very transparent! Email them both to see what your best way to go is.......WE support your decision to go forward here on obesity help....Let's show this wonderful person huge support my fellow OH members! ?

You Do learn .... the lessons aren?t always easy but it seems like you can catch up .

Unfortunately now it seems like a serious health issue caught up with me which makes it very difficult to go out to sea especially since we?re traveling to different countries . Well life is a risk ....

food today - anything I can get down from pork n beans to orange juice . It IS really scary to leave the land of Chinese , Mexican , Greek and Thai takeout and just go .... being unable to eat .

But milk and baby formula ( which is basically Ensure ) are foods too ... bananas, mangoes , papaya , conch salad in the Bahamas , ceviche everywhere else .... these things I can eat .

I may be just turning Vegan or what they call pescatarian ( someone who eats fish ) .. I notice I?m much more interested in tofu than meat .

And funny ... I never understood ladies lying around a pool in lounge chairs .. now I'm that lady in the big hat sexy bikini and sunscreen! And happy to do it .... is this AGING?

Ok you have me totally confused. Are you traveling with the two little kids?

Ensure is no where near baby formula two totally different things. I hope you are not giving the young one Ensure she should have baby formula.

Topic: RE: One of my favorite foods

I?m a coleslaw expert... because I too adore it . Buy a bag of freshly shredded cabbage ( 1.39 ? ) a bottle of fat free hidden valley ranch and a bottle of the coleslaw dressing.

If you can?t find that just buy an envelope of dry coleslaw dressing. One envelope is enough for six bags of salad because you?re mainly using the fat free ranch dressing.

mix a little of the dry stuff with water and get it to your taste ... you might want to add salt and pepper. A lot of times I just use the Hidden Valley fat free ranch dressing alone and it works great ....

what I at least can?t tolerate post op are fatty mayonnaise based dressings . This is a great tasting workaround. Actually tastes a LOT better than what you can buy expensively in the deli.

And obviously it?s a lot less calories and much more healthful.
