The company has not responded to either of the two messages I sent them about this issue. If I had to guess why, it is because the patch NEVER had the 1500mg of calcium they originally claimed (good thing I saved an old package, huh?) and they are afraid of saying something that might be used in a lawsuit against them.
I therefore have started posting comments about it on their Facebook page, so we will see if that gets any response from them (other than to delete the comments).
14 years out; 190 pounds lost, 165 pound loss maintained
You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I will be 14 years out later this month. I now malabsorb just a very small amount of fat (it isn't even noticeable unless I eat something with a lot of it... and even then it doesn't result in the stools you describe).
I do still have pretty good restriction (knowing that the pouch would naturally be expected to stretch a bit), though. I can still only eat about 3.5-4 ounces of a dense protein.

Congrats on your weight loss.
Being aware that you are starting to have an issue so soon after surgery is a positive. I didn't admit I had an issue for 4 years, and by then my drinking was out of control. My weight loss stalled also, but realized the sugar in the alcohol was a big part of the problem.
Please feel free to send me a private message if you want to talk further.

I don't plan on stop taking my vitamins, but curious to know what's the worse that can happen? I hate separating pills each week and trying to find deals on them. I find walgreens to be helpful with buy one get one half off or free plus I can use rewards. There's just days where I wish I didn't have so many medications to take = 12. I have to use the 4 slot 7 day a week pill holder to keep it all figured out.
I agree exactly with what partlypollyanna said.
reslly bad things can happen like memory loss, brain drag, loss of your muscle function. Considering your heart and lungs are muscles you don't want to go there.
I had a near fatal heart episode when I had salmonella snd couldn't eat drink or take any vitamins. In just three weeks of that, I was rushed to the hospital where I was found to be depleted of calcium folic acid snd many other hormones. I was having a neat fstsl heart arrhythmia and found to be in early renal failure. I was given massive amounts of iv supplements over the course of a week in the hospital.
don't go there. Don't even think about it. You knew this was necessary. Do the right thing, forever, for yourself.

The worst could Be dying, if you let it get that far, and depending on what is deficient. Before that though, you could be tired, lethargic, irregular heartbeat, inability to fight off infections, cause permanent nerve damage and tingling of extremities, be higher risk for dementia and other negative neuro conditions. Lots of bad stuff and once you are deficient, It's harder to reverse course - especially with some thing like ferritin.
the time to question whether you wanted to deal with taking all the appropriate supplements was presurgery. If you feel like you have to take too many pills now, you definitely don't want to add more because you are having other medical issues due to sufficiency complications.
Search on the board and see the different mechanisms people are using, maybe there is an option that you can work with.
I take 2 centrum silver a day; two proferrin iron, 3 celebrate calcium chews a day (includes D), sublingual b 2-3 times a week. It's a mix that works for me. Find what works for you and stick to it!

I find I still malabsorb fats nine years or so post op - ( sorry to be graphic) - my poo comes out soft and very light yellow in color the next day ( sometimes urgently ) if say I eat full fat cheese or a restaurant meal which contain usually several times the amount of fats and oils I?d ever consider using at home .
My ex husband who had a distal RNY said the same thing ( he was operated on a few years before me ).
He also still has significant restriction- he always has to bring most of his restaurant meals home like I do .
I?m just very curious- what makes our bodies keep this gift and if we have it why do many folks significantly regain after the two year honeymoon period ?
Since my surgery I?ve made it a point not to overeat ( not that I can ) nor to test ? dumping ? by eating sugar or say fried or most fast foods .
what is your experience?

It?s really pretty simple ( and I?m very successful nine years post ? ) .
Get a blood test every six months . Ideally get your original bariatric surgeons to explain the results- they can also simultaneously document issues you may be having that justify insurance covered excess skin removal surgeries .
There are vitamin deficiencies that are very hard to recover from ( like anemia from lack of iron ) .
I personally choose to chew a tasty gummy supplement rather than taking nothing when I?m feeling rebellious or forgetful ( I actually keep them in my car door so I don?t forget :)
Makes me feel much more energetic and healthy when I take my vites - and they taste good - like candy !
My current favorite is Flinstones sour gummy bears or Flintstones gummy beans ( a new product ) . Though bariatrically they may not be absolutely ideal I've found over the years that they work very well provided I occasionally supplement with ( non elemental because we don't absorb that )complex iron.

My dream since I was a small child was performing. In elementary, junior high and high school I starred in just about every production they made - yet - because of my ( lifelong) weight struggles I felt embarrassed, vulnerable- never pretty enough .
My dream was to attend a famous college acting program and eventually make a living as an actor - but everyone ( especially me) discouraged me from even applying . I was called hefty , husky, chunky- I well remember going to the mall in the seventh grade and having NOTHING fit me in the regular stores - not even a fourteen size . I was MORTIFIED- and it took many years a ton of daily running and restrictive diets to finally model and do bit parts .
After WLS I have had the incredible blessing of regularly performing - mostly singing live music but some well paid SAG acting also .
My ex- boyfriend who fronts my band is constantly putting me down - I came back from Covid quarantine ( and two miscarriages) and he said you look thirty pounds heavier and twenty years older - yet I sang that same night and people danced and I got paid :) . It?s very gratifying to make a living at what I always dreamed of and was too scared to try for because I was overweight.
I also feel so much healthier and have so much more energy- and now I never have to worry about dressing up or putting on make up to look attractive.
I remember when I tried on outfits for HOURS to attempt to ? hide ? my fat middle . Now I choose short shorts and tank tops and even swimsuits without embarrassment. :)
I get my blood tested every year, not every six months. I haven't lost the weight I needed, but my labs are all normal. It's all so frustrating, but I rather be frustrated then depressed and flabby skin. Thanks for the feedback.
