thats what really want to avoid actually i had my surgery in 2002 so i have put 10 kgs on my bmi is 32 now which is obese according to caculators i feel ok at my weigh. . t of 85kgs it still a size 16 and i was a size 12 before. i dont really stand out as being the fat one now though lol.
I found that trying to go lower than my body's comfort zone was a constant fight. Many do it, but they live their life in diet mode.

What about as a revision..my surgeon wants to do the bpd as a revision from an open gastric bypass..says it is a shorter and safer surgery as compared to full DS revision..with same results? anyone have any thoughts on this?
You are committing yourself to a lifetime of blood tests, at least annually and more often for some people. You will have probably have deficiencies that can be corrected by changing your doses in most cases. You are responsible for studying what vitamins and minerals you will need, because most nutritionists aren't very good when it comes to this surgery. The blood tests will pick up what you need to change. Most people have to tweak their doses over time. Those that stop doing blood tests and taking daily vitamins get into trouble.
try eating more often and adding carbs at each mean.....eat 6 meals a day, to raise your insulin level, which in turn will decrease your fat metabolism. As you get further out from the DS, you will be able to incorporate more carbs, add a probiotic. This is temporary, as long as you have no deficiencies, you are ok, and if you do ...make sure you address them.
If you have a specific question for me, PM me or I will not see it, as I don't check responses on the forums and don't have anything forwarded to my email.
thank you, I have tried this already it was quite painful for me. I will keep trying things as suggested.
so now i went to the dr and she said it would be ok to do quick optifast if i felt ok but then i was going to do keto diet but she said that is not really good the dr that did my surgery retired along time ago and im sort of forgetting what we should be eating after ds to maintain our weight Anybody got some good ideas?
thankyou i have to be really careful here because i had a complication i had have more of my bowel out than most people so i will talk to my dr and see how if i can just do it or need it modified.
Hi,
While I think this is OK for a quick hit on the weight loss you may want to just try 3 or 4 days to kind of "reset" your eating and then reintroduce food slowly starting with protein. Kind of a modified post-op diet.
I'm familiar with it being easier to make the decision of I am just having liquids as a way to avoid all eating issues temporarily I just think it might be healthier to track what you are eating after a shorter period on Optifast or your protein drink of choice. :)
I use Optimum Nutrition for my favorite protein drink and personally find a couple of days of mostly that can help me get back on track if I feel a little out of control.

Depending on how concerned you are you might want to talk to the Doc about something like Creon. It's an enzyme (I think) that increases absorption. I've seen a lot of people ( relatively ) that were concerned about too much weight loss try that.
I feel for you, the first year I never really knew from week to week if something would hit me differently than the week before. Dairy was an especial problem for me then, soon figured it out and switched to Lactaid and frozen yogurt but it made my life miserable till I saw online about people coming out lactose intolerant and connected the dots. Powdered milk was a big portion of my Docs post-op re-introduction to food.
Have you tried something like sodium bicarbonate to mask some of the symptoms?
