I'm 250 lbs right now and have been wanting to start jogging. I can only do 30 seconds to a minute at a time. I'm wondering if anyone has done a 5k or jogging over 200 lbs? how did you get started? I do zumba 6 days a week and have started strength training.

A couple years ago, I weighed about 290 and could run 2 miles.

Get started by building up slowly. Check out the Couch to 5K program.

Don't give up! It's really hard, but it's really amazing how much progress you can make.

I started training for a 5K at 220 pounds.  By the time of my race (yesterday) I was down to 184.  I finished the race in just under 40 minutes.  Some people walked faster than my jog, but I jogged all the way.  The jogging is great for accelerating weight loss, and my other motivation, it gets the workout over with faster.  Go for it, sounds like you've already started.

I started the C25K program at about 270.  I ran my first 5k at 220...done some subsequent 5K's and a 10K over 200.

I am 180 now and have added a 15k and half!   Just listen to your body and go for it!

I just did a 5K yesterday. I am definitely not a runner but I vowed I would fini**** in 50 minutes. I walked almost the whole way but when we went downhill I would jog down the hill. then as I noticed I still had .25 mile to go and less than 13 minutes left, I started jogging as much as I could. And I did it! I made it in 50:34. I can't believe I achieved my goal when I didn't even know I could. My first 5K 105 lbs ago was 1:04, so that was 14 minutes taken off. My hips are killing me today but I want to get it down to 40 minutes. I want to jog a whole 5K.

Even though I had been doing spin classes for quite some time....I was not able to jog until I got to 120lbs.  I have had back issues when I big and have had back surgery....and I am old (49)....so that may have been a factor.

I started doing heavy duty exercise classes at 3 months after surgery when I weighed about 200 lbs.  I didn't start running until I weighed about 160 though.  I was too afraid of injuring a knee or something and I didn't want anything to stop me from my exercise classes.
