If you are picky, make sure you bring all of your own toiletries! I just spent over a day in L&D and the worst thing was showering with bar soap! That and I would have loved my own shampoo, and moisturizer! Socks, clothing... Make sure your bottoms are very dark, most likely black! I prefer yoga pants or sweat pants! A good loose shirt, and nursing bra if you plan on nursing, if not sports bras are a good idea! Slippers, robe (even in the summer hospitals are cold. And yes, bring your Chapstick!

Ur going to want to bring ur own clothing. Usually the first day after delivery is the worse. All my babies were born in evening so slept in hospital garb. I usually ended up shorwering during the night and the next morning showered
Again I would put on my stuff so I felt more comfortable after that shower as u will have visitors and such. If ur nervous about ruining stuff bring what I call the "period panties" (not ur favorite) some older jammies. U will want slippers hair ties ur own body wash and shampoo (most hospitals only have baby shampoo) oh and lotion. If ur going to nurse the baby don't forget the nursing bra.
Good luck

Alrighty, so I'm going on 3 years post op RNY and almost a year post op belt lipectomy with abdominoplasty. O'd on 5th.

Incoming TMI

didnt think much of the sore bbs or extreme moodiness until 2 days ago (8dpo) I woke up with HORRID diarrhea - like almost dumping syndrome. No new foods though - and I don't dump unless I'm dumb and grab a candy bar.

Yesterday I had a glass of milk and some toast (2% milk as always) ..I always have this - but this time it shot my blood sugar up to 172!!! What the heck?!  Extremely thirsty - moody beyond belief even for me - I'm not due for AF until 22nd (next saturday)

Does it sound like I need to test later in the week to anyone else?

Topic: what to bring

This is a silly question and also probably a bit late to be asking I guess (I'm almost 37 weeks), but what does one seriously bring to the hospital when having a baby? When we had our birthing classes, we were told to not bring anything you didn't want wrecked because the hospital provides disposable undies and johnnys etc. Well, if that's the case, that leaves me lip moisturizer and a toothbrush. Any help from with what our more experienced mothers have brought? This is my first birth and I have no clue what I'm supposed to bring because I don't want my pjs and my undies destroyed. :(

Hey, i'm Sandy, i'm 37, been married 4 years, found out i have endometriosis,m and I've been through IVF 3 times. It can drive you crazy. mine is not a success story,, though i'm sure one day i will be cradeling babies in my arms somehow.  we've made 21 embryos (not to mention all the eggs i produced) , but each one eventually died either inside me, or during the process.  I think they are chalking mine up to egg quality.  but God promised me a husband and a family, and my wonderful man was so worth the wait, and i'm sure our kids will be too.:) I have heard ALOT of success stories, so you keep positive soon to be momma :).. sandy

My 2 pre wls babies and 1st post WLS baby were all vaginal deliveries! This one may be c-section, but it has to do with my baby being breech and not wanting to turn, not that I am a RNY patient. I really want to know why these people that say that actually say that! Like Paula said, 2 completely different parts of the body! I was considered "High Risk" by my OB due to RNY, but then they took me off the high risk clinic just to be put back on due to meds I have to take for a neurological disorder. So you don't even have to be high risk throughout your pregnancy if they see you are doing well.

I took the prenatal, my B12, and instead of 1 calcium (600 mg a day) OB had me bump it to 2 a day.
