Topic: RE: Can anyone else eat more after baby is born?

I am going thru the same thing. My son is 9 months and I still feel like I am eating to much.  I didn't get to breast feed due to him having allergies and needing special formula.  I gained 35lbs while pregnant and still have another 25 to lose.  Dr thinks some is due to the Mirena I am using for birth control but my sister never gained weight on it and she is post op also. If someone could let me know if the pouch test works I would appreciate it.

What are you guys doing, or have done to lose weight post partum? I lost quite a bit at first, then gained pretty much all of the pregnancy weight back (25 lbs) and I am not sure what to do now. I am feeling very discouraged.

Hi. I got pregnant very early post op. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and 17 weeks post op. I struggled at first to keep food down but with the help of zofran, the baby is growing beautifully. The best of luck to you!

Topic: RE: How is Everyone Doing with Their weight gain so far?

I am 17 weeks and am down about 3 lbs from before I was pregnant.  I lost about 5 lbs in the first trimester (I think from not eating enough calories) but now I am up a couple of lbs.  I'm hoping to gain a good amount in this second trimester and the third trimester.  My biggest cravings have been fruits like oranges, grapes and apples but recently I have had cravings for simple sugars like ice cream, cookies etc.  I'm trying to get away from that though cause its starting to make me feel blah after eating it.  My snacks vary from fruits to crackers and cheese to the popular pickle craving.

Topic: RE: Biotin while pregnant??

When I first found out I was pregnant, I looked up all my extra vitamins and medications I was taking including Biotin.  I read it is actually good to take Biotin.  It said about 50% of pregnant women develop a biotin deficiency.  I take it mainly for my hair.  Without it my hair falls out like crazy.  I take 5000 mcg twice a day.  I get mine from a vitamin store.  My dr hasn't said to stop taking it.

I have been concerned also. I am 17 weeks and am having a hard time gaining.  I am below my original goal weight, in fact I got down to 125 lbs.  My goal was 135 lbs. In my first trimester, I lost about 5 lbs but not because of morning sickness, i think it was the lack of calories.  My family doctor is concerned cause she said I am looking too skinny (never thought I would ever hear that). I have been also working with my bariatric dietician and since i can handle some simple sugars in moderation without dumping, she said I can eat the odd snack to get the calories in.  I am eating all the time it seems (alot of fruit cravings) but still find it difficult to get the amount of calories in that my dietician is suggesting.  I am currently aiming for 1600 calories a day and it is hard.  Last time I weighed myself (a couple of days ago) I was only at 127 lbs.  I have talked to some people who haven't had the surgery and they only gained no more than 10 lbs total during their pregnancy...mind you it was because they couldn't stand the sight of food.  I am just concerned that my baby will be affected.  I take my prenatal vitamins religiously as well as extra folic acid, my regular calcium and vitamin D supplements.  I just had another full panel of blood work done to see if I am deficient in anything...just waiting for the results.

Thank you for your insight.

I think we are going to wait a few months and try one more time.  We are an older couple (I'm 40; he's 50) and it just may not be in the cards for us. But we'll try one more time and hope for the best.
