I had VSG, not RNY so I can't answer most of your questions, but just wanted to say welcome to the board and good luck!

Topic: RE: What are some of the nutritional modifications with pregnancy?

I got pregnant with my first post op baby when I was 6 months out from my sleeve.  I was mostly done losing, so I just kept eating what I already was plus I added in a few snacks.  As pregnancy progressed, hydration became more of a struggle for me (this has been the case with all my pregnancies) so I needed a gatorade every evening just to keep the braxton hicks tolerable.  Yes, it is lots of carbs, but my weight gain was fine, so it seemed like a fair trade off for the hydration.  As for vitamins, I took two chewable target brand multi vites (generic flintstones) which have as much or more of everything in a prenatal, so I checked with my doc and they were fine with me continuing with that.  I also took a calcium/D supplement.  I'm currently 30 weeks into my 2nd post op pregnancy and this time my iron is low, so I've simply added an extra iron supplement to my routine.  Otherwise, all my levels have remained fine despite an early post op pregnancy, nursing, and another pregnancy.  Good luck!

Wow! Thats huge!!! My RE likes to trigger at 18mm which haooens fairly quickly when I'm on clomid, around cd 10-12. They have also given my estrace to help combat the side effects of clomid. They have never said anything about my lining but I will be sure to ask next time I see them. Right now I am waiting on AF to start so I can start clomid on cd3. I havent taken clomid since october which is when I had my first IUI. Alot of times I have to take forced breaks bc I end up with residual follicles (cysts) when taking clomid. I will ask my RE if we can maybe wait til 20mm+ to trigger instead of 18mm. So my regimen will be 159mg clomid cd3-7 and estrace every day once I start clomid. Then afyer the iui we will do progesterone :)

The first failed cycle produced one mature follicle at 23mm and one "kind of" mature follicle at 14 - highly unlikely to implant, but not impossible.  The second cycle produced two mature follicles, 24 mm and 18 mm.  I know from an early ultrasound that it was the 24 mm follicle which implanted.

The other thing I wanted to tell you is that clomid is known to decrease the endometrial lining thickness.  You really need a thickness of at least 7 mm for a successful implantation.  The first cycle my lining thickness was 8.5 and the second one was 7.75.  I've read on fertility boards that if you do 3 cycles in a row and still aren't pregnant, it's good to take a break from it for 3 - 4 months to let you lining recover so that it will get thicker.  If I remember right, it has to do with the extra estrogen that clomid helps to increase, whi*****reases ovulation, but decreases the endometrial lining thickness.

Topic: Looking for information- actively TTC

So.... someone helped me find this board!  And I'm so excited to see a bunch of other people either trying to conceive or pregnant who have had weight loss surgery.

I'm a little over 5 years post RNY.  I have had issues on and off with various help concerns, but for about a year I have been healthy.  At 33 and feeling like I want a child I started the process of trying to conceive.  (Doing this as a single mom).  This past sunday I had my first IUI after taking clomid at the beginning of my cycle.

My RE knows I had gastric bypass (he's the one that suggested it when I used to have PCOS (no more signs of that).  But he didnt give me any tips, etc.  I know its too soon to be having symptoms but today I have been feeling nauseated, so starting to think its just from stress (I dont think implantation could have even happened yet).

For people who have had RNY, do you find you have had more morning sickness, etc. during pregnancy.  I know every women/pregnancy is different, but wondering if by the nature of our stomachs being pregnant affects us different.  I have been on a prenatal for a few months and added folic acid (I already had a deficiency) and also take iron 3 times a day (because of deficiency), I have been trying to eat more whole grains in preparation (I somehow used to not do to good with carbs and lots of grains). Figured I would change my diet some before it happened.  Does anyone have trouble getting the extra 300 calories a day in?  More importantly because of my family history and taking clomid I'm more prone to having multiples.  Anyone on here have multiples after RNY?
