Topic: RE: How does the sleep study go?
I was real nervous for my 1st sleep study. The tech wasn't very nice and didn't care how I felt. I didn't sleep well and the wired made me feel like I was being strangled. (I have a photo in my profile, just scroll down a little) I went on May 17th for my 2nd sleep study to try cpap. I had a wonderful teck, who was very compassionate about wire placement, my comfort and made sure I understood why I was there. She even went over the results from my 1st study that the respiratory therapist didn't explain(she's a major nasty person...B****). Anyway, she pulled all of the wires back and attached them all together like a pony tail. They moved with me and not a single one came loose all night. Just try to get as comfortable as you can. If you can tolerate it, I recommend leaving the tv on low volume all night. My 1st study I set the timer, and it went off before I was asleep. I woke up a few times to voices of the staff in another room. WHEN YOU GET HOME>>>>>when you wash your hair, run some conditioner through first....it'll loosen that tacky glue and make it easier to get out.

Topic: RE: Sleep apnea gone?
Hi there. I sleep with a BiPap machine myself. I used to not be able to sleep at all, less than 10 minutes at a time, without it. Since the surgery, I have found that I'm taking it off in the middle of the night. And I wind up with an extremely dry mouth/throat after wearing it for a while, even with the humidifier on it. I can now sleep without it, but still not sure how the quality is. I will probably get another follow up study this summer, once things settle down. Good luck!! ~Kat

And I do have it...............barely. They consider you to have sleep apnea if you have more than 5 apnea episodes an hour, I had 5.4 lol. Anyway, I got my cpap machine today so we'll see how it goes. Good news is that this should get me qualified for gastric bypass! I'm sending in my application for WLS today

Topic: RE: How bad is the sleep study?
They did not really give me a chance to sleep because my oxygen would get down to a saturation of 40 and they would wake me up to tell me to take a deep breathe. Non of the stuff really bothered me though. Not to much stuff in my hair and it came right out.

Topic: RE: Nasal Pillows Use...
I have trouble finding the right size. I just hope that when I lose weight I won't need to worry about it. I get so sick of the damn thing!

Topic: RE: Taking mask off in my sleep
I take mine off usually because the humidifier is set too high or low. If I dont have enough humidity my nose gets really dry. If I have to much the moisture makes my nose itch. I usually have it set at about 2. Sometimes it just annoys me. I can't function if I dont have it on at least 5 hours a night though!

No one has ever told me I had to sleep specifically on my back. I sleep all over.

You need to get used to the machine. Wear it when you are relaxing and doing things like watching tv. I have gotten to the point that I can't fall alseep without it.

It sounds like apnea to me. Best of luck at your appointment.
