Have you checked the humidity in your room? I have a full CPAP Mask because I have always slept with the mouth open and if the humidity is low, I will get severe dry mouth.

Topic: RE: Sleep apnea gone?
I know the study can be expensive, but sleep apnea can lead to other serious problems. I truly pray that you are rid of the apnea, but I recommend going to get some concrete results. You can sleep through the night and feel just fine with sleep apnea. I did it for years while in denial (while thinner) and am now only feeling the pains of severe apnea since gaining an extra 100 lbs. I would want you to be safe.

Hey Faith, I had 2 sleep studies at a center, took ambien and did not sleep either time. I did however request that the dr take everything into consideration for his report. I need this for insurnace also. The report says "suggests severe sleep apnea" my paperwork should be submitted by the end of the month....so we will see if it works. emial me and let me know if you want any further info on this and I can tell you what I told the dr. xxxooo angie [email protected]

Topic: Sleep apnea gone?
Since RNY surgery I'm down 50 lbs and have quit using my c-pap machine. I sleep through the night and am well rested. Using the machine I had a terrible time with a severe dry mouth. Has anyone else quit using the c-pap and done all right? I feel fine, and don't want to go back to the sleep doctor for another expensive test. Thanks. Hugs, Rudie2

I was given a full-face mask to keep my mouth closed. You are not doing yourself any good if you are sleeping with your mouth open. At first, the mask was awkward, but I adjusted. I did have leaks from time to time, but for the most part, it was fine. I had my lap RNY on 1/2/06 and stopped using the CPAP 3 weeks later. No more sleep apnea. Paula 259/139/135

I got a call today that my results were in.........however I have to make an appointment with the pulmonologist to go over the results. They wouldn't tell me whether I have it or not! How frustrating. I'm guessing that if I didn't they would have just told me, not make me come in just to tell me everything was fine. So I have an appt May 21 to see what they say. I just wish they would have told me yes or no today

Hmmm...that's interesting. All the sleep studies I've had, I had to get wired up at the hospital (took them about 90 min. to connect everything) and I slept at the hospital. They also monitored my blood pressure. If you have sleep apnea it'll show up in your BP when you're sleeping. As you stop breathig, your heart beats faster to try to get more oxygen to the body. In my case the bp escalated quite a bit. So, if the home monitor test comes back negative, you may consider asking the doctor about a sleep study at the hospital. Good luck! Bobby

Topic: RE: Laying on your back ,side or stomache does it matter?
Hey Nichelle, I"m not a "stomach sleeper" so don't know about that. I sleep on my sides usually and I have no problems. Bobby
