Breath easier, you might be talking about this interface www.innomedinc.com I wore this mask for 2 years. This one looks and works just like a nasal cannula.

I had the same problem. I solved it with a wide elestic chin strap that keeps your mouth (jaw) from opening. I use it with my CPAP every night and even when I nap. I can't not even nap without my CPAP, Loretta

Jerry, I'm so sorry! I've only had mine a little wile but I'm finding it the most comfortable I've ever used. Compared to the Mirage Swift with a taped soggy mouth, this is heaven. I do wear it a little tight but I have my old Swift pad-a cheeks on the bottom straps. Luv the pillows on this one.

Well, so much for this mask !!! I've tried and tried to get used to this darn thing and me and the Hybrid are not getting along . I'm just going to stick with my old faithful. Ther Hybrid's straps are not fat-head friendly. It really was a tight fit. I also couldn't get the nasal pillows to fit correctly. They would be fine, until my cpap reached full strength (18) and then it would just whistle. Also, the air flow really burned my nose after a while. So there goes $175...of the insurance company's money at least. Is there anyone out there that can recommend a cpap mask that would work well with high-pressure (18)? Mine works great until full pressure, then it starts blowing of my face and whistling really loudly. Thanks. -Big Jerry

Okay, here's the 1 day update. -The first thing that I should share is that I didn't make it through the night with this mask. Actually I didn't even make it to sleep. I tried for about 1 1/2 hours, but I couldn't do it. Everything was fine except the fact that the air flow was burning the inside of my left nostril. My right side was fine, but the left side was rough. It felt like my machine was out of water, so I checked it and it was fine. I also thought that my heater may not have been working, so I tested that as well. Everything was fine. I readjusted the mask, thinking maybe I didn't have it on right and this didn't work as well. -I hope I can make it work with this mask, but from the experience last night i don't think it looks good. I'm gonna keep trying b/c we all remember what it was like when we first started using a cpap to begin with. I really need this to work because my regular mask works great until it reaches maximum pressure (18), then it'll blow straight of my face! Well, it blows in my eyes and whistles very strangely. Ok, you all have a great day! Peace!

Hi Nora, As you lose weight you will most likely need your pressure lowered. Call your doctor, you may not need to go in (maybe your HME will come out and lower it). Have you heard of an AutoSet unit (www.ResMed.com). This unit measures your breath and gives you the correct pressure on a breath by breath basis which great while you are losing weight because it will automatically adjust. The Elite model also lets your doctor and HME provider view all your info. online and adjust the unit remotely- awesome! Check out the website www.resmed.com and www.myresmed.com

Even with a ramp up, you may not need a pressure of 18 all night long. You say you have a regular CPAP. Have you tried Autopap ? Do you use a humidifier? I am just now going to a full face mask because I've been taping my mouth shut. I was using the Nasal-Aire II which is very comfortable but I still mouth breath so I'm going to try a mask I've been reading about on www.cpaptalk.com called the Hybrid. People with high pressures seem to like this mask very much. I haven't tried it yet because everywhere I called was all sold out or it was too new for them to have gotten any yet. Another reason for Autopap is that as you loose weight, your pressure may drop and Autopap will work better that CPAP with changing pressures. Just a thought.

There is a difference and with a pressure so high you probably need auto pap. You mask should make very little if any noise. I just found out about a new mask called the Hybrid www.hybridmask.com from Teleflex Medical that seems to be a wonder mask for high pressures. Ask your Dr. if an Auto Pap would better suit you.
