Aug 26 Exercise Report - What did you do today?
I am going to take a day off. Saturday I walked 2.4 miles, Sunday I walked 3.4 miles and Monday I did 1 mile on the treadmill plus 1 hour upper and lower body weight workout at the Y.
Remember, your surgeon prescribed exercise as part of your lifelong recovery from obesity so get out there and take your medicine!

Thanks, I was in Rockport Tx until last night and no 4G service for my phone, just 2G. Yep, I was roughing it.

Today is a running day for me once I get out of bed.... Then I'll do as much yoga as I want to when I get home. At least 30 minutes, yesterday I did 85, so we'll see. Yoga is seriously a highlight of my days and I always want to do "just one more class."
Of course, the new Scalzi book is out today so that might help keep me from going too crazy with the yoga classes.
But first - get out of bed!!
This is an "easy" week for me since my fitness classes are all through the local community college and this is the break between semesters so I'm class-free until the 2nd. But next week I'll be starting my new schedule which has yoga, Zumba, water aerobics, Bhangra, tai chi, and Pilates. Plus running and the yoga practice I do on my own. I love the exercise variety I have in my life. It really keeps me motivated. I can do anything for an hour a week :D

Your exercise posts are making me chomp at the bit to get going. I am 2.5 weeks post op and feel great. I'm getting my steps in (8-10K daily) and doing lite gardening and housework. Every time I grab shovel to dig and transplant something I have to stop myself. I can't wait to start working out again.
It has been years since I had a good fitness routine and this surgery and experience has given me a new lease on life, so to speak. It has been a while since I wanted to exercise. I know I can't lift until 4 weeks but when do you generally start a good cardio and weight routine? How do you have the stamina to exercise on so few calories?
In the past when I have done other low carb high protein diets low cal diets I have not had the stamina to exercise. How is this different?
Getting started advice would be much appreciated.
You are doing great for being 2.5 weeks post op. I would not change much. You are doing better than I was at that point.
I did not start working out or walking long distances until about 10 weeks out. I probably could have started sooner.
You will have more stamina because you will weigh less, you are getting in your liquids and taking your vitamins. At least that is how it is working for me.

My doc said to wait until 6 weeks post op to hit the gym, and I'm 4 weeks today. I went with my student to PE class today and they were doing their physical fitness tests. I thought I would do some sit ups. I did two and my tummy still hurts. I had a hernia repair and I'm thinking it isn't quite healed yet. I'm really hoping in two weeks I'm feeling much better and I can get really busy. I would like to do something more to help the weight come off!
Yikes! Definitely too soon for ab work!
It is not, however, too soon to walk. :) Walk every day to keep moving. It's great exercise!
