I read there are only about 4000 endocrinologists in the US. Think about how many people with diabetes, thyroid problems, and other endocrinology needs there are! No wonder no one can get an appointment...

Good job pivoting to be with your dad in the moment!
I think about when I would have a grandiose, "Great Idea" and be excited and talking about it with someone and they might punch the wind from my sails listing all the reasons why it won't work. The difference I guess is that I might actually do it and could probably use someone to ground me (or I use that negativity to refine my plan or firm my resolve). Your dad and Pep's dad aren't going to buy a motorcycle or build a wood furnace, so to let them live in that excited moment where all things are possible and encourage their creativity and joy is such a gift rather than potentially encouraging them to make a mistake. You're good kids!
So glad your visit to your parents went well and that besides the name your Mom is warming up to hospice. Unfortunately a lot of people do associate the word with a negative connotation.
Pre planning your meals is a great idea! I'm feeling a little lost with traveling and not being in my house with my kitchen for the Holiday!
Sorry you had such a bad night of sleep. No fun! Chili is one of the family favorites. It was Ben's favorite and we had it a lot. I'm good for one bowl and then I am done! Too bad it makes way more than one serving per person!
116.8 - unchanged even after eating out twice yesterday. But there was no snacking as we were away from the house from 9 am to 8 pm. I had a mushroom ravioli dish for dinner that I haven't had in years and it was just as good as I remembered. They had half portions, which I love. I ate all of it.
Very proud of Justice not having any accidents that whole long day. I wouldn't have been upset if he did.
SIL's tree is up and quite beautiful. She is looking a bit more mobile than she had been. She has been going to an easy exercise class. Apparently she hasn't had a back specialist helping her, just the endocrinologist who works with her for osteoporosis and a pain specialist. Everyone (including her) feels she needs a back specialist so she is trying to find one. She sees her PCP today and hopes she can get a recommendation from her. Interesting that she has an endocrinologist for that. My PCP said the endocrinologist specialists for osteoporosis are hard to get appointments with so she suggested an orthopedist who specializes in osteoporosis. Maybe SIL would have been better off going that route but when she started treatment for it she didn't have any fractures. Now she has suffered multiple ones in her spine.
I retrieved all the packages that I had shipped to SILs yesterday. We have NO specific plans for today which is great! I am taking Diane's lead and making pot roast. I will probably set up my table top Christmas tree and wrap the gifts. There will be a Justice walk as well of course. The snow is melting here so it should be an easier walk for him than it was yesterday where most if it was on icy paths.
Have a turtledove Thursday!

Sounds like things are finally going better at your parents. What a relief that your Mom finally accepted care. I think most hospice workers are true angels, so I am not surprised that your Mom is enjoying them.
And yes, my SIL is very dear to all of us, including my DH.

Sounds rather complex. But the results are great. I bet it gets easier with practice.

Sorry you didn't sleep well! Sometimes it is tough to retrain to eat without the bread and crackers but it is worth it. But boy do I miss chili. Many of my favorite foods like chili have a lot of beans which are extremely high in nickel which I am apparently quite allergic to.

I have never built a home for some of the reasons you listed. I'd rather have it all in place and work on decorating it to my taste.
50 degrees?!?! They do it at our place down to 55 and I think even that is crazy. 60 without much wind is my limit.
I hope you went to "Lanai Ladies". Sounds like a good way to to meet more people.
