After VSG I had a goal of 125 at which point I started trying to figure out maintenance. My body just settled into a place where it was fairly easy to pick a range where I didn't want to go lower than a certain number or higher than another. I upped the range a bit after the first regain, but seem to settle close to the same spot. Having a range keeps me from getting too nervous in maintenance even though I don't like it when I am in the higher portion.

A really nice muse about the wine. Looks like today will be another warm sunny one as long as you are out of the wind.

DH used to side-eye me and give me a hard time when I didn't eat my meal when I first started Tirzepatide but I told him it was my choice and not his role to make me eat. He finally saw the light and leaves me alone now. He either finishes my meal or I get a doggy box if worth it LOL.

Years ago I had a dexa scan (I think Peps had one recently) because I read that it was the only truly accurate test. It provided body fat percentage, muscle percentage and also bone density which is helpful for us older folks. My impression is that all the others just give estimates. As I recall the information provided also compared me with what the "normal" percentages were based on my sex/age which was quite helpful.

We eat what we want then put down our fork and say I am full! Or no thank you to that peanut butter cup or whatever. No room in the Inn (or sorry it just doesn't appeal right now).

Thank you, Paula! I didn't know your M.S. was in that realm. Respect! We're lucky to have you amongst us. :)

I just say no thank you! DH was trying to push a peanut butter cup on me last night. I had to say no at least 5 times, he just wouldn't quit! I was pissed!
That would be bioelectrical impedance testing they did at your gym. Similar technology to the home scales that measure body composition. I know hydration can affect those results.
My Master?s is in Clinical Exercise Physiology and we did hydrostatic weighing (under water) in college. If you have a University that has a health sciences program near by, you may be able to have it done there. A quick Google search for Kentucky also showed me this - In Kentucky, you can get a DEXA scan for body fat analysis at centers like DexaFit in Louisville, Your Body Goal in Louisville, and Fitnescity in Lexington.
Paula, I squeezed some little gizmo I held in my hand, but have no concept of how doing that measured body fat.
Next week I'm going to use some better assessment equipment at a sister gym in town where they have a different gizmo I tested on 2 years ago. I'll see what that one says. I agree/know that the water displacement test really is the best measure of body fat, but I've never found a place that would do it. (Another thing to research.)

Ann, curious how the new gym determined your percent body fat? I wouldn't guess that you would be 36%. That seems high for your height and weight and frankly how you look in pictures. Under water weighing and Dexa are the gold standards for measuring body fat. I know Shel and I had quite a few discussions on this after VSG. If you truly want to know, I would try and get one of those. I know I did a Bod Pod scan after VSG and I came out super low in body fat "extreme athlete level". Of course I was an exercise fanatic then!
