119.8

I did not go to the pool yesterday mostly because it was too hot. Summer-like weather has arrived. The 2 dogs and I were wrung out after our 3.5 mile walk yesterday morning. We are going earlier today. Instead I altered a couple of clothing items and I put the first coat of paint on one bedside table. When we bought this place almost every piece of furniture was dark. I have slowly been painting them because I generally like the style of items, just not the darkness. I'm saving my purchase plans to buy 2 new sofas for the fall.

Today after our early walk I am going to water aerobics, then we may go to beach club for the afternoon. Definitely a day to sit under the umbrella on the beach.

Today is DH's weigh-in day and he is hoping for a good week. He certainly looks a lot thinner especially in his face and he has been able to get into clothing he has had for years but not worn.

Have a wonky Wednesday!

Your DD is at such a great point in her life! Sounds like she makes friends easily.

Sorry about your aunt and uncle. We see that in friends where something health related happens and even though they mostly recover it changes their future completely. We have neighbors here in there 80's (not the ones who belong to Moby) who were very active until the wife fell and broke her pelvis. She has recovered after many months, but they just sold their place here, are working on selling their other long term home, and are planning to move into a community where assisted living support is available when they need it. They said it was an eye-opener about making changes.

I looked at the Hokas, too. Just too ugly. That sole is just too much for me. I'll stick with New Balance. Roughly the same price.

Oh, I hadn't updated Teva prices in my head. I typically pay $90 -$110, but I bet they're more expensive now too. I've been eyeing Hokas. So ugly they're kind of cute thing? Several co-workers swear by them...

I always do because I learned early, early in life how important shoes are. When blessed with EEEE width feet you learn to pay for what works. I just don't like paying for it sometimes! I used to be able to buy New Balance for between $80-100. Now, only 3 years later I'm looking at paying about $140 for the same shoe.

Liz, I would have picked going to the pool, and that is why there is dust on every surface in the livingroom. I need to invite some friends over for dinner to get me motivated!

I chatted with DD about all the fun she's had in the last weeks ( bridesmaid in a wedding, a bachelorette party for one of her Roma girls). At one of the gatherings she was chatting with someone's sister about wanting to date, and this young woman had DD look at her contacts, and then gave DDs number to 5 different people. Better than having to find them yourself wading through responses online! As DD says, if her goal is to meet someone for a serious relationship, it's a numbers game. I hope she has fun while she's on her journey to the right one, be it a girl or a boy.

We are heading to Boston on the 15th for her graduation and party. DS and his lovely girlfriend, my BFF and her boyfriend, our dear friends (DHs best friend, and whose daughter is also one of our daughter's best friends) DHs brother and his wife (daughter's godfather), 2 of her high school friends are all traveling to join the party.

I am sad though, that my dear Aunt and Uncle are not able to attend. My Aunt had a stroke a month ago and at the time I suspected I was not getting all the details. A previous stroke about 7 years ago left little deficits, so my guess is she wasn't sure of impact of this one, so waited to share all. She is getting a lot of therapy and using a walker. They do not feel up to the long travel day to get from Amherst to Boston. DH and I will go see them Sunday morning the weekend we are there instead. It is hard to reconcile. Two years ago they wore us out on our cruise. It may have been the last hurrah as they billed it then, but I didn't want to see it that way. They are incredibly resilient, and I'm sure there is still joy and pleasure in store for them, but I think it will be much closer to home than previously. Even though there is much to be grateful for, it hurts my heart all the same to see their wings clipped.

Teacher appreciation week was a fun lunch today. It was a ballpark lunch with hot dogs chips, candy etc. It worked well because the chips were in single serving bags, etc. Easier to control portions than a huge table of sweets. I ate half of everything: half a hot dog, half a bag of chips, half a bag of M&Ms. I felt like I had a nice treat, but not too much.

Being able to remember what things cost even a few months ago is a frustrating skill these days!!!

Buy the good shoes!!! Feet health is everything. I'm a cheapo about many things, but I replace my Tevas whenever little stress cracks show up.

Your dinner menus sound so good. I hope I get my cooking mojo back this summer. I used to enjoy it, but just ran out of steam the last few years.

If you wanted to try out a friend for Kirby is there a foster dog association in your area. About the howling... I babysat my nieces and nephews frequently when they were little and sometimes they cried at the moment of separation but were fine when Mom/Dad were out of sight. Maybe Kirby is fine once you leave?

Are you planning to head to Michigan soon?
