BFF's house is near Mexico City. She married a Mexican citizen when she was 22, and they lived in Mexico, with visits to Minnesota in the summer (we went to high school together). Her oldest son was killed in a traffic accident when he was 13, and when her younger son turned 18, he decided he would make his life here in Minnesota. When he was around 22, she and her husband separated due to his infidelity, but by this time she had lived in Mexico her whole adult life, and chose to stay there. She started coming to Minnesota to see her son, and work at temporary jobs for 2 months each summer and winter. (Her parents are deceased, and her other relatives live in the small town where we grew up) She could earn enough money to support herself without working in Mexico the rest of the year, if she had her US earned money and her alimony. After a few years of this, we had to tell her she could stay with us one month each visit, because they started getting longer and longer once the grandkids were born. Then the current crisis happened, and we've been doing what we can to help. But yeah, living with us permanently, even if she is splitting the week between our house and her son's house can't go on forever.

Does BFF have a home of her own somewhere? I can't remember. You are such a good friend to her and her son!

I love that your kids have a good, supportive relationship with each other. Mine really don't. It went from DC1 and DS2 hating each other to having a cordial relationship now but none of them are particularly close with each other which is unfortunate. Even DC1 and DSD talked about getting together for Christmas if we are not here for the actual Holiday but no talk of such things among the brothers!

122.3. Back down a smidge even though I'm still eating quite well.

Our buyers will not accept a bump clause (where we could accept a better, non contingent offer). Rats! Praying it will all work out in the end. Thankfully it is still a sellers market here albeit a little on the slow side right now.

Got a lot cleaned out yesterday thinking we might be taking pictures tomorrow and having an open house over the weekend. All good, it's getting us closer to being ready to move any way you look at it!

Traveling back up North so soon Liz? That went fast! Glad you found a bed you think you will like!

That's a lot of plans for today Liz : ). Im glad you found a mattress. I despise shopping for mattresses for all the reasons you shared, so much that I have been dragging my feet to go buy a new one.

A very small new world problem: I bought Kirkland shampoo and conditioner at Costco and used it for the first time yesterday. I can't stand the fragrance they use. It actually bothered me last night when I was sleeping. I feel weird, but I'm going to bring it back today after I work out.

I did some more planning for our trip to Brazil, and more What's App conversations with our friends. Good friend has a new SIL that wants to loan us her vacation apartment in the mountains, so even though she is on hard financial times, she can have a little vacation get away with us. Very sweet. It will all work out.

October 1 has come, and BFF will still be staying with us intermittently. I think I mentioned, the friends she was planning on staying with after 10/1 can no longer have a guest. (The friends being by SIL) She is checking in with some other people and thinks she will be able to stay with a friend of ours from high school. His partner passed away 2 years ago, and I suspect he may welcome company for awhile. Anyhow, we extended the move out deadline until we get back from Galveston. I feel bad for her scramble, but she can't be here indefinitely. Her ex husband should be arriving for a little over a month after Thanksgiving. If he does, he will stay with his son and take care of the grandkids when his son is working. BFF will go to stay with her east coast boyfriend while the ex is here, and get a break. That will solve some of her housing problem, and she's welcome to stay here while we are in Brazil for 6 weeks.

DD said yesterday was better than Monday now that she has a plan. DS didn't go check into his convention hotel until the evening, He worked from home at her apartment so that he was there when she got home from work, and they had dinner together. It's nice to see him offer her support. As the "little" brother, it has often been daughter coaching and supporting him. Once day we'll be gone, and it gives me comfort to know that they will still have each other.

Well, I guess it's time to wrap up my very slow morning, and go get some things done on this beautiful fall day that feels more like July!

117.2

OH is a bit weird this morning so I am going to save this elsewhere before I press submit. Good thing I did, as this is the second try.

We bought the mattress yesterday- Saatva Classic Luxury Firm. It has a 1 year warranty for swapping and a lifetime guarantee for quality (prorated over time). We bounced around on a bunch of mattresses and it seemed right. I witnessed firsthand how easy it is to swap. Another couple came in who got their mattress 2 weeks ago and thought it was too firm so thought they might switch. The salesperson (*****ally guides more than sells) was working with them on that. They decided to give their mattress another few weeks to break in after retrying theirs in the showroom (where it is broken in). The new to us Tiki bar was nice - grea****er view.

Today is crazy busy partially because some stuff got backed up after the last 2 very full days and we leave for the north for 5 days tomorrow morning. Dog walk, water aerobics, laundry, drop off clothing at Humane Society, buy end table on sale, buy birthday gift for great nephew, buy wrapping paper for 2 birthday parties when we are home, pack, golf meeting, bocce practice, bocce game, Oktoberfest dinner at the clubhouse. Whew!

Have a whirlwind Wednesday!

Crud! Praying it all works out. You have 3 weeks but that's not a long time.

Looking forward to hearing about the protein ice cream. If you don't eat it all in one night, how is the consistency of it when kept frozen for another day or so?

So glad your daughter reached out for help and is already back on meds. There is no shame in that at all. In fact I think she is an incredible adult for not ostriching about how she felt. You and your DH have raised your children to trust you and confide in you.

It does seem like temporary/vacation weight gains do go away fairly well on their own once you return to regular eating. My problem in the past was that I would say to myself the heck with that, I've already messed up so I will just keep on eating whatever I want. That mindset never worked well.

She is doing all the right things! So glad she recognizes what she needs to do and then does it!

Greetings all

It is raining again today. WTF too early for serious rain here. Oh well. Spent the morning at Scrabble. Lost to the Shark as usual but won the other two. At least the shark game was close. Caught up on gossip on the local medical community because that is what we, as old people, gossip about. The surgeon who did my cataracts is going to retire and that office will just close down.

So I mixed up the stuff for the ice cream machine and froze it so it should be good for this evening. Just what I want on a cold rainy day - ice cream.

So I skipped the studio to come home and try to log in to the state tax board which still does not work for a variety of reasons. Site down, they don't like my password and blah blah blah. I would give up except there is a discrepancy that needs resolution.

DD sorry your daughter is having med issues but glad she recognizes it. I take those drugs and learned not to quit them. Good that she has others around to help out. Enjoy the theater.

Rats Paula on the house issues. Still hoping it all works. Realtor should find a way. If I were you I would still get rid of stuff. Sooner or later it will happen.

Yeah Liz it is no fun to spend money on boring stuff like home repairs. Mattress shopping is hard because you don't get to test them long enough - like over night. We got a bed from costco years ago that raises and lowers and does massage etc but the motor on my side is broken. Oh well.

Chicken tenders for dinner tonight. Might need to try the white chili DD
