I was 30 minutes to a beach when I lived in Port Charlotte but anywhere I could afford in Fort Myers when I was looking was just as long timewise (even if a shorter distance). We would go to the beach in Englewood or just north of there or to Boca Grande. Of course those areas are just opening up again after the hurricanes last fall. I think there are a lot of varied property options in Englewood too. We have friends there and their son just bought place near them recently.

Yes, Wisconsin weather is playing a role in our decision but the housing prices have come down considerably too and there is much more inventory to choose from. We just need to be careful to choose something not in a flood zone and maybe a little more out from the coast.

If you keep eating and walking like that you won't be gaining any weight! Sounds like a great start to your trip. I hope the ship is nice! What line are you on?
No snorkeling yesterday as it was a bit rainy in the afternoon. We went to dinner on the pier with our friends and their grandson while the parents of the child had a date night (and the grandson had a sleepover with his grandparents). What a lovely, sweet boy! And so well behaved at dinner. Just colors and plays with his cars while waiting for his food.
Today is more of the same, perhaps with the snorkeling today. Not sure as the rain showers may or may affect the day again. As mentioned yesterday this is actually pretty unusual for Aruba. Tonight is dinner at an older restaurant which used to be a favorite. We don't like it as much partially because it is probably the most expensive restaurant we go to and the food quality hasn't been consistent the last few years. But our friends asked us to go and we wanted to spend the evening with all of them.
Have a well-deserved Wednesday!

So this is the reason for the change in feelings about Florida. Feeling a *****illy, LOL!

Generally it doesn't rain too long - a couple of minutes up to maybe 15 at most.

What a tribute to affect the lives of so many others in a positive way. Leaving an insurance company didn't really feel that way LOL. Though I did mentor some people who continued on to have great careers.
I just looked at the weather in Massachusetts for next week when we are home. Still rainy half the time. Yuck!

Good Morning, from Amsterdam!
Weight? Who knows? I ate well yesterday: 3 squares. Protein, protein for breakfast - eggs and cured meats (love European breakfast!), Pea soup for lunch, and then dinner was in some swanky Portuguese restaurant. I had a small plate of beef filet in a delicious sweet and sour sauce with vegetables. We shared two desserts among the three of us.
Walked 7 miles over the course of the day.
Anne Frank House was deeply moving. At the end of the tour was a film about the father's trek back to Amsterdam. Lots of footage of refugees fleeing Germany. Reminded me very much of the stories my mother told me about her trek to escape the Russians.
Today we board the ship and start our journey to Budapest. Will post more pics on TT when I have a chance.
Ron does not wish to accompany me to the Sex Museum. However, it's right around the corner from the hotel, so I do believe it is a must!
126.4. That uptick is not well deserved. Still well within my range but yikes, up 2+ pounds in 2 days! Makes me a little nervous.
Super busy day today. Started with a walk with DH, then on to a vision appointment. Thank goodness for vision insurance, I would hate to see the bill without it, as it is I had to pay close to $500 and the glasses frames I picked were not even expensive. I did get progressive lenses and paid for some extra imaging of the inside of my eye. I hadn?t been to the optometrist since 2022!
After the eye doctor, DH and I drove up to the Green Bay Botanical Gardens. The blooms have been disappointing this year so far, probably because of the crappy weather we have been having. After we got home we put in the new bushes in our front yard circle along with the metal cranes. I still think a water feature would look great there but we can let the next owner pay for whatever they deem appropriate.
We went out to eat at a newer to us Mexican restaurant (big surprise) and I had Mexican shrimp ****tail. Very flavorful, more like a shrimp gazpacho soup with avocados in it too! I have plenty of leftover for lunch tomorrow!
Time to soak in the tub and warm up these old bones! I am not made for Wisconsin weather, plus I have bought a few more Tommy Bahama dresses that I have been itching to wear and it just hasn?t been warm enough!
Hope you had fun snorkeling Liz! I love snorkeling! Lunch at the beach shack and dinner on the pier sounds wonderful as well. I bet Justice misses you as much as you miss him!
Hope Peps isn?t tearing up Amsterdam too much. DS2 went there the summer after HS graduation. The sex museum was his must see there! Lol!
