You know you live in a unique place in the world when your big box store is in a tsunami zone! I suppose my Target is in a tornado zone, but tsunami zone sounds so much more exotic to this midwesterner.
Greetings all
It is overcast here which is so common in our fog zone. We have the tv on to the Weather Channel and BBC to learn about this earthquake and tsunami. The BBC really has much better news than any US stations and they go into some depth and not just headlines. CNN and MSNBC mostly just have talking heads giving opinions.
So there were some bigger waves at the coast here and some action at Crescent City (60 miles north) which always gets bad stuff if there are tsunamis. They were hit badly in the 64 Alaska quake and also Fukushima. So we are still under caution but our town is up on cliffs about 150 feel above sea level so we are out of the zone and safe. The studio, however, is at about 10 feet above sea level and is in the zone. Though I think the danger is pretty low I think I will stay away from the studio today. Need to visit the gym which is also safely out of the zone.
Yay Peps Dad all moved! Glad it went smoothly and he seems content. Hope he is enjoying his new surroundings and feels comfortable.
Block Island looks wonderful Liz. Like a step back in time indeed. Might be fun to leave phones behind when sitting in the Adirondack chairs on a porch. I would skip bikes. No need to sweat.
Nice Paula that you work the church garden and supply food for others. Interesting on the house inquiry. Might just be good Karma.
Not going to Target today as it is in the tsunami zone. Kind of a trek there anyway. I need to just order some stuff from Lands End or something.
Yoo hoo CC report in please. Ditto others. You know who you are.

122.4 yesterday and 122.8 this morning. Pretty steady.
Busy days! I'm trying to remember what I even did yesterday. I know there was a DH walk in there and working on wedding photo book for DSD. BLTs and farmers market green beans were our dinner. Our realtor texted us saying her partner has an out of state client looking to move to the area to be near children/grandchildren and they want a ranch on the north side of town (that describes us). She was wondering if we might consider selling a little earlier than planned. We said earliest would be the end of November (I have surgery the start of September) so now we are awaiting an answer if that time frame works for their client and if so we need to do some mad tidying of the house to show sometime Sunday-Tuesday.
Today I worked in the church garden again. We delivered 137 pounds to the food pantry this week! Got home, showered and have been cleaning the house a bit.... just in case. Hoping to hear soon if we need to put those efforts in full gear or not.
Thinking tonight might be an out to eat night. Probably Mexican per usual! Or maybe Jimmy John's subs!
No weight as we are on beautiful Block Island.
The heat you folks in the mid-west had last week is here right now. It was 90 with humidity making it feel like 100 here yesterday and the same is predicted for today. Though where there is a sea breeze it makes a huge difference. I have mixed feelings about renting bicycles. It would be nice to see the part of the island we missed last year but I'm not sure I can take the heat on a bike.
The sea breeze was fairly significant on the front lawn of the hotel yesterday. It is a beautiful old hotel with a large porch where there is a bar, restaurant and a seating area where one can have drinks. In front of the porch there are Adirondack chairs all about and wait staff takes drink and appetizer orders. There was a musician playing a piano on the lawn from 5-8. Feels like going back in time which is what most of this island feels like.
We will probably go for a walk in a bit while the temperatures are still in the low 70's. Likely some beach time later. Tomorrow we probably won't hang around after checkout time as the heat starts to break tomorrow and it may be showery.
I hope California fares okay with the tsunami warnings. Looks like it is mostly dangerous for swimmers not necessarily property?
Have a winning Wednesday!

It looks like Tsunami warnings are still in effect in your part of California (it is 6:30 am here, so 3:30 am your time)! I hope there isn't much damage.

I am surprised that Walgreens didn't have socks even though they don't have pantyhose LOL. No Nonsense which used to make hose now makes socks. I have gotten socks at CVS. Target would definitely have them too.

I agree on air conditioning. I love to hear the sounds and smell the air from outside. Last night we opened up the window on our 3rd floor room so we could the music on the lawn outside in the early evening (though we did close it to have good AC for sleeping).
SIL was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer more than 6 years again and at that point her oncologist said it was not curable, but it was treatable. The treatments have sometimes been a bit tough but not overwhelming so for the most part. Hopefully that will be the case for your friend too.

Well there was a huge earthquake on the Kamchatka coast in Russia and tsunami warnings for cal coast. We ate about 2 miles from water and are considered outside tsunami zone. Glad I did not buy that beach place. We are out of the zone and safe. D
I guess I have to take it all back, right? But you know, now that I'm doing it, it really is A LOT! I am impressed by how well you do with the amount of travel you manage. Honestly, if I didn't have to fly up to Seattle, I would not feel as pressed for time. But that is one of those obligations that can not be avoided.
Greetings all
Another sunny breezy day. Best kind. Seems like I have been out and about all day. Played Scrabble. Won one, lost two including the Shark but only by a little. I was going to go to Target for new socks but stopped at Walgreens instead. I was thinking they might have a small selection of sports socks so I asked where they had panty hose; thinking socks would be nearby. Guess what? They don't have panty hose. None. The clerk said "oh those things that used to come in a plastic egg"? Made me feel old. So I got some stuff including fair life milk but will have to order socks on line. I really hate clothes shopping and there are no departments stores anymore - just little boutiques with odd selections. College town Arcata has all this crop tops and torn jeans stuff. No thanks.
So after shopping I went up to the gallery to take new stuff and pick up checks. Unbelievable clouds!
Well DD you were due for a laid back day. I agree with you on the AC - glad to have it when needed but I hate that artificial chill feeling. Might as well sit inside the refrigerator. Actually when I was in high school and worked at KFC that is what we did with the big walk in cooler. That kitchen was so hot. We would go in the fridge and drink soda. So enjoy the fresh air when you can!
And you too on the fresh air Liz. That resort looks wonderful. Glad your SIL has renewed medication and is moving forward.
Not much else. Remaining yum yum sandwiches tonight and then I have to think of something else.
