Oh boy - I am sorry. If only they would REALLY get help. I would feel the same way you do. Instead of being able to look forward to the first days of freedom, you have an unpleasant task to do.

I ended up taking Kirby to the vet today. He's been licking and chewing on his right front paw for a week and when I felt around in there, he's got a bump way up in it between his toes on the underside. The vet was so young and cute and she loved Kirby! They took him in the back and shaved out his paw with basically two techs laying on him and giving him smooches and peanut butter, because he's not into being ministered to (and mostly wanted to lick her while she was trying to get the thing in his paw). She took pictures and it looks like a 1/2-3/4" sliver of something under the skin, but there was nothing poking out to grab onto. Not sure if it's sharp grass or a foxtail or a thorn or cactus barb (everything here wants to kill you). So we talked about it and since I have been thinking it's about time to think about neutering, I would do that and they could dig whatever it is out when he's under. So he goes in Friday. He just passed 20 months. That's 7 months longer than I made it with Fergus! He weighed 75 pounds today.
Thanks for reminding me to not give into the pressure to set myself on fire ...
My Mom has always had a lot of fantasies about how I will fix things, but inevitably, they will not allow me to do anything. I can do a few things like put some food in the freezer and do some laundry, which is helpful I'm sure. But it doesn't change the systematic things that are making them miserable. I am surprised at how bitter I feel about using my first days of retirement to deal with this. DH supposed my mother has been counting down the days until I'll be free to finally start taking care of them. I guess I'm just so tired this week, it feels like a heavier burden than normal.
Greetings all
More sun today. First event was studio board meeting which we had at one member's house instead of the usual zoom. She has a lovely old victorian house so it's fun to go there. But the face to face meeting sort of triggered one person into a lot of unnecessary talk about how we measure kiln usage. I't real simple - 4 cubic feet per month. It's all by gut feel anyway and not actual measurement. After that I went to the studio and glazed five slugs and finished a few more. Big sales today up at the gallery so I have to get busy. Last night's gallery membership meeting was not too bad. The icky person did not get elected to the board. But again, people just talk and talk and digress way off the agenda. My pet peeve.
My other pet peeve is people who walk out into the street without looking at all. No visible head movement or perception going on. Some of these people are not even looking at phones! Someone walked in front of me on the freeway on ramp yesterday. What are these people thinking?
Peps so fun to hear about the little Bear and how he is navigating Airedale World. How fun. Smart pups can be a challenge because later they figure out that there are alternatives. My dumber dogs were easier to obedience train. Anyway you are headed for so much fun with the little guy and less heavy crate carrying! But probably as much grooming. And congrats on homing in on oneder-land.
CC sorry for your dove but at least raven cleaned it up. Years ago I had a bird that bonked his head against the window all day. We finally had to cover it in newspaper. So regarding your phone problems, does that happen to everyone elses' phone when they come to your house? Never realized those big rocks made a difference. Lots of people around here have starlink because cell service is crappy.
DD glad you can help your parents but hope it does not become too much for you. Remember you don't have to set yourself on fire...
Hey Paula good you are finding your way with your DH around. My DH reads on his iPad much of the time. I do wish he would go out more for his sake. I go out and about most every day even it it is to the gym 5 minutes away. Rain is over so no excuses!
Dentist apt tomorrow to prep a new crown. I absolutely hate this but have a stash of tranquilizers to get me through...

Our dogs used to sleep with us and sometimes still do but I bought one of those cushioned benches that go at the end of the bed and we put their dogs beds on that to sleep in. Kind of an extension of the bed and I'm not kicking dogs every time I move or turn over during the night ( they both liked my side of the bed, maybe because DH would throw them there, Lol'
Bella goes by more than one name and does fine - Bella, Bella Boo, Boo, dog, puppy or even her sister's name Emma will get her attention!
At least your Mom is asking for help? And probably better to go sooner than later.

Another cold, damp, rainy day. This weather system is probably heading east which makes sense with the weather prediction for Liz's Cape Cod weekend. Not a fan, but we really did need the rain, and it is making it look like the emerald city here, so I won't complain too loud.
We had a robin going berserk here attacking himself in the reflection from the sliding door. I didn't like seeing him flail against the door all day, so DH covered it in blue painter's tape. It worked, and I think we can probably take it down, as little robin now appears to be assisting with the nest.
I just got a text from my Mom asking me to come and spend the night when school gets out because they need some help. And they do, but I wish I could put it off a bit. I'm going to go though, right away, because my Aunt is having her surgery June 20, and I might need to go to Boston after that. If I don't go to my parent's the first week of my retirement, it may be a couple of weeks before I can.
It must be Mexican food week because DH tells me we're having white guy tacos for dinner. Sounds yummy!
