Who's got protein powder recommendations?

May 02, 2011

I am positively in love with the BSN Lean Dessert line, but I'm open to trying others.  What powders do you love?  Not tolerate, but LOVE?  Fire away.  I'm ready and making a list!  Many thanks in advance.

weekly weigh in

Apr 27, 2011

I lost 3.5 pounds last week, for a total of 62 pounds.  I feel great.  I was hoping to hit 60 pounds this week and I passed it so I'm super happy.  Next week will be 5 months since my surgery so I feel good about the overall loss in that period of time.  I may have been discouraged at a few of the individual week's results, but in total I'm really happy.

And now for some non-scale victories...

I now weigh less than my husband for the very first time!  Even in my younger years before I was overweight I never weighed less than my boyfriends.  I'm liking this!  He's been doing a bang up job of losing weight too but he better not pass me up.  I'm really proud of him.  :)

I can now cross my legs!  I haven't been able to do that for years.  So exciting.

My 'new' pants from a few months ago are getting loose.  I will need to invest in a belt this month because I suspect I will need it in the next few weeks.   I notice that the legs are especially loose.  I guess we don't necessarily shrink equally everywhere!

This week several people at work complimented me on my weight loss.  Finally!  Don't get me wrong...the goal of losing weight wasn't to get compliments but I was kinda getting bummed that I'd lost so much weight and nobody even noticed.  I notice that I feel more comfortable in my clothes and have more confidence overall.  Even with my batwings, I'm not nearly as self conscious as I was.  What a great, great feeling that is!

Tonight is the monthly support group meeting.  I'm excited to see how everyone that had surgery around the same time as me is doing.  If you're losing weight and are not in a support group I highly recommend joining one.  Online support is great, in fact it's become an important part of my daily life.  But there's no substitute for physically being in a room with other people who share a common goal.  It's educational, motivating, and a great place to ask questions and support/be supported by other people.  Please give it a try.

Here's to a good week for all of us!

Weight Loss Wednesday

Apr 20, 2011

Can you believe it's been another week?  Time sure does fly.  I hope you're all doing well and feeling great in your new bodies.

This week I lost 1/2 pound.  I've now lost 59 pounds.  It still confounds me how some weeks I lose big, some small and some not at all when I eat basically the same things week after week.  It just shows that not all of our weight loss is up to us.  Our bodies have minds of their own!  All we can do is make sure we're eating right and getting exercise.

You can read a longer, more detailed WLW post on my personal blog:    http://fortyisthenewfabulous.blogspot.com/

Continued success to my OH family!  Have a great week!

(ETA:  ugghhhh.  I need to figure out how to address this situation.  I use my personal blog as my primary blog.  I want to have my complete journey documented in one place and I had my personal blog before I had my OH blog.  But...there is someone here who posts endlessly each day and nothing is ever weight related.  She posts partial text and then you have to click to her personal blog to finish reading the rest of the post (yes, I was curious as to what her deal was so I actually clicked on one to check it out).  I'm not sure why but that rubs me the wrong way.  It feels very manipulative.  I always post condensed versions of my personal blog posts here with an option to click to my personal blog.  She annoys me so much that I don't want to do anything remotely similar.  So I'm not sure what to do.  Do I repost my blog posts in their entirety so you don't have to click to my personal blog?  Ugh, I don't know what to do.  I'll think about this over the week, but if you have an opinion I'd sure love to hear it.  As it is, I get so few comments on my OH blog posts that I'm not even sure if anyone is reading it - in which case it doesn't even matter how I do it LOL)

Weight Loss Wednesday

Apr 13, 2011

ok guys, it's been a grueling week and I'm mentally and physically exhausted.  I'm happy to say I lost 2.5 pounds last week so I've now officially lost all the water weight I gained when I stopped taking my blood pressure diuretic.  Thank god.  We just wrapped up quarter-end at work and I'm looking forward to getting my life back and throwing some exercise in the mix.  I'm headed off to bed now.  Eyes won't stay open  :(

Weight Loss Wednesday

Apr 06, 2011

Booyah!  I lost 5 pounds last week.  Actually, in the past two days.  I've been peeing up a storm (TMI?) and finally shedding this stupid water weight.  I have been exercising faithfully...almost everyday.  I feel pretty good except for this stupid sciatic pain that not only won't go away, but continues to worsen.  I've been in a lot of pain this week but so far have not taken any of the vicodin my PCP prescribed.  It sure would be nice to not be in pain, but we're so busy at work right now that I can't afford to be slowed down by narcotics.  I just may take some tonight though.  It really hurts right now.

Hope my OH family is all doing well!  How is your journey going?

Finally

Apr 04, 2011

The scale was down 2.6 pounds this morning.  My feet aren't swollen ande my rings are back to spinning around my fingers again.  It looks like my body may finally be adjusting to not taking high blood pressure medicine anymore.  Such a relief.

Such exciting news!

Mar 31, 2011

This is slightly off-topic but I had to share.  Actually, come to think of it, it's not as off-topic as I thought.  I received word today that my personal blog will be published on BlogHer!  I cannot tell you how happy this makes me.  I've been reading the blogs on BlogHer for a few years and was so envious of those that were featured.  Now I will be on there as well!  I still can't believe they accepted me.  I'm not sure exactly when my blog will go on their network.  There's some IT stuff to be worked out before it can go live, but I got my acceptance email today.  Wow!  I just had to share this news since so many of you read the blog.

If you've never heard of BlogHer you should check it out.  It's a great community of women (primarily).  There are great articles, they have blogger conferences a couple of times a year and there are hundreds of blogs all listed by topic (parenting, religion, life, food, etc).  Check it out.

Here's my blog URL if you're interested.  I post a couple of times a week and I do a weekly Weight Loss Wednesday post where I discuss my progress, accomplishments and challenges from the previous week.  The blog is not strictly weight loss related.

I'm so happy!  :)

Weight Loss Wednesday

Mar 23, 2011

Well, since stopping my diuretic blood pressure medicine on Saturday I've gained 3.5 pounds.  Yesterday it was 5 pounds so I'm obviously starting to get rid of some of the excess.  My rings are back to spinning around on my finger again.  Yesterday they were a little tight and my feet were swollen.  I also had bags under my eyes.  :(

I'm really good though and am so happy I had surgery.  I've exercised almost every day for the past few weeks and I'm super happy with that.  The hardest part is always getting started.  Now that I'm past that point, I don't dread it.  Don't get me wrong...I don't LIKE it, but I know I have to do it.   Before I would have put it off and then conveniently I forgot about it.   Now I just get it done.  And I ALWAYS feel better when I'm done.  Yay!

Hope you're all doing well too.  Here's the link to my personal blog with a longer Weight Loss Wedneday post if you're interested.  Have a great week!!
