I have been overweight my entire life. In 2001, I lost over 117 pounds, which I gained back after a life-tragedy occured.
I started this process over a year ago, with Kaiser. I went through all their mandated classes and got so far as meeting my surgeon. It was then that I decided that driving over an hour for all the pre-op, surgery, and post-op appointments was not going to cut it for me. The alternative was to switch insurance providers in order to have the surgery in Sacramento. That is what I did.
I have a seminar to go to on February 1, with the surgeon and her staff, then my initial establishment visit with the new PCP on February 8, to request the referral.
This is the beginning for me!!!
