Thank you so much for the response! I wish you well. I hope my insurance is as easy as yours was for the revision. I was self pay with the VSG.
My appointment was last week, as expected, he recommended RNY. I don't doubt him at all, but I do have an appointment with a doctor in Dallas later in July. (Who did you use and would you recommend him/her?) I have two friends from support groups in Dallas (we lived there 6 years), both are bariatric nurses. One had VSG, the other had RNY. Both agree with what the doctor told me. I really count them as a second and third opinion, but will still see the physician in Dallas.
I see you're in TX, but didn't see where you live. We are in East TX but going to Dallas or even Houston wouldn't be a big deal.
Thank you for the info, I appreciate it!!!
Bariatric Advantage, unfortunately, aren't anywhere near adequate for the distal. The distal and the DS are very similar and I was warned years ago about BA vitamins. The first year of my DS I took something called Vita4Life, very similar to BA. I was adding so much extra I just stopped the V4L and went to individual vitamins.
Check out BioTech - they have an entire line of dry vitamins. You need individual vitamins - not a catch all like BA. I take mostly BioTech with a double Centrum 50 and a few other additions - A D E K1 K2 and a few added minerals.
Good luck.

Hi,
I've asked my doctor for years to send me for a surgery referral I have severe fatty liver, pre diabetic, knee pain, I believe I'm having gallbladder attacks( was sent for tests dr said because of my weight they couldn't see anything) but nothing has been done afterwards. He keeps saying try loosing some weight. I've been yoyo dieting since I was 8. I lose weight once I stop I gain it all back and then some.At my recent dr app he said I have severe scarring on my liver so try and lose weight. I ask for a referral and he says no he doesn't agree with it. I do t know what else to do Does anyone know of a dr in the Halton/peel area that will refer me for surgery. Thank you
PLEASE let me shed some light on this subject. I have already had surgery. My husband has always been able to lose weight on his own, if he tried. I did not want nor encourage him to have bariatric surgery but he did...I AM NOT ATTRACTED TO SMALL/SLIM MEN. That is all the problem is for me. He knows this, I warned him of this but he went through with it anyway. Not to mention that he is naturally very competitive and I am not so let's throw that in the mix. I am still waiting to find all this great energy everyone says will come, meanwhile he is a week out and biking, walking etc. By the end of my workday, I am exhausted. Nevertheless, the point is what I said in the beginning. IM NOT ATTRACTED TO SMALL MEN. MAJOR issue in a marriage if you ask me.
Calcium should be taken twice a day as you can't absorb a full dose at one time. NutraMetrix is absorbed because of it's isotonic delivery system.
Thanks, my cat has had a few good days letting me sleep. He really loves to cuddle and wants attention at the strangest times. Sorry to hear about your back issues.

I've been sleeping rather crappy for a long while now. I've got pretty intense back issues so that plays a huge part. My biggest block of sleep tends to be an hour to an hour and a half. I get usually two of those and some shorter periods. I have a Fitbit that tracks. All together I get around 6...being so chopped up I never feel rested. Lately I've been getting less than 6 total.
I do nap every once in a while. It's usually just for 30 minutes or less.
I hope your kitty gets more settled in and doesn't wake you up!

I can't say I have been down this road exactly but depression is not a stranger to me. It's one day at a time but counseling and the right medication has helped.
Unfortunately your doctor never took you the next step to explain that because of the distal you'll need dry vitamins (because of the malabsorption you have). The shortened intestines help with weight loss but as you learned the intestines are where you absorb your vitamins and nutrients. ADEK are typically oil soluble but as you learned with malabsorption you don't absorb them. You can find dry vitamins on Amazon - in my opinion the best brand is BioTech and they make dry versions of all these vitamins. Get a baseline set of labs drawn to see just how low you are and make the appropriate adjustments.
As far as your psych meds, you may need to experiment to find the right balance. Check the DS board to see if there's anyone with the distal that can provide some more direction.
