So cool to see you are a DS couple - us too!! After the first year, my husband realized that if he didn't lose the weight, I would end up leaving him behind as I launched a more active lifestyle. We loved our life together, but it involved eating out and going to movies. Afterwards, it was much more physical activity!!

Thank you, mine varies. I had a soft stool BM thinking I was constipated but It must've been something I ate because I'm back to my Loose bowels again.
Hugs,
Esther
Hello there! I am 10 years out, and you are an inspiration. I have been able to maintain a 22ish BMI. I struggle to keep my protein and iron up and have also had to use infusions on occasion. Right now I'm at osteopenia, so I'm taking 2000mg calcium per day in 4 doses spread out. Being active is so much easier for me now that my knees are not hurting and I'm not constantly out of breath.
Congratulations, and enjoy your 20 year celebration!

I am 7 years out and I just started having terrible heartburn. I'm not sure if this is normal but Pepsid has helped me.
let me know if you find out anything.
thanks,
Esther
Hi Friends,
is it normal to have "Normal" bowel movements with the DS surgery? Not hard but soft formed? For so long I have had runny bowel movements but for a couple of days it was not at all runny. I know this is a gross topic, but I am just curious.
thanks,
Esther

Farm Living is definitely the life for me!! I found that while I have not been able to reverse my osteoporosis, once I stopped taking meds, and switched to high doses of D3, along with some added magnesium, the decline stopped. And now that I am blissfully in menopause, I have remained stable. I have been really happy with topical CBD cream for some of the joint pain. Oral does nothing for me, but the cream really gives me relief. It doesn't last long, but long enough for me to be able to fall asleep!!
I love liver, but am pretty sure I couldn't eat it 12 times a week!! When I was supplementing iron, the Spatone Iron Plus was the only thing that seemed to have any impact (and it tasted good). Even with that, my body simply failed to absorb most oral iron.
Thanks for the info!!

Janet, Consider this: discuss with your doctor in addition to any rx...adding 10thousand Vitamin D3 daily and vitamin K2.( it comes in 100 mcg @ wally world.10$/2 months supply Both are OTC)
Research came out about 2 years ago indicated K2 is the mineral mover in the body and returns excess in blood vessels to muscles and bones.Information said one would need to eat 30 lbs of broccoli a day to get sufficient of this Vitamin.K2.
...Both hubby and i have forms of Osteoporosis. his has been stopped.( he does take mineral in addition intermittently on a schedule... and is documented. I have no insurance so can not get testing.. but my strength is much improved...and no longer have muscle cramps. The article also stated there are K vitamins numbered 3 through 8 "discovered" as well. They are in process of investigating the action of each..I am 61, so right behind you... :>)
K1 is the one that thickens blood and K2 is a mineral mover. No actions on the others yet...
Thanks Denise, I will get it checked. I appreciate your advise.
hugs, Esther
Esther, you could have a stricture... an area where connections were made that have scar tissue.- building up..... that could give your symptoms... a laxative would thin all passing thru to allow passage... my dear uncle died from a bowel obstruction that was "missed" on 5 drs exams. do not let any sudden change go undiagnosed...- checked out thoroughly. after these wls surgeries we do not have extra intestines to spare... if you have a narrow passage it is vital to keep plenty fluidsin the gut to assist in thinning of effluent. i am no longer a nurse.don't play one on tv, i did have wls in 96
