Hello, Warriors!

Hope everyone is doing well. Life is getting back to a little normal, but we have a big week on the homefront - my first fencing tournament is a week from today on October 1. I'm competing in two events - women only in the morning and mixed in the afternoon. (All participants over 40).

Sunday - Rest

Monday - Fencing lesson and class 2.5 hours

Tuesday - TRX 1 hour

Wednesday - Fencing lesson and class 2.5 hours

Thursday - Rest

Friday - Agility/weights

Saturday - Pilates to stretch the body before tourney.

Last weekend picked up new fencing shoes and it has made a huge difference for me - I feel like my footwork is crisper now - maybe its just the confidence of new shoes, but I love them!

Here to a great week for everyone!

Keep on losing!

Thanks. He's already plotting his next races and scheduling stuff well into the spring. I'm glad he's found a sport he enjoys - because if you don't like it you're not going to do it. Will keep you all posted on the tournament.

Yesterday I skipped the pool and laps, mostly because I am irrational in the early morning and when my alarm went off I rolled over, whimpered from my sore, post weight lifting muscles, and decided I "couldn't" swim. I did manage to take two brisk walking breaks at work...

Today I biked to work again, as scheduled, and I'm planning on biking directly to the rec center and lifting weights after work. After lifting I'm going to bike back home and take my sister's dog for a walk and run for an hour.

I'm totally feeling the weight lifting! Even though I'm doing zero "core" work, my abs and back muscles are sore so I must be engaging them while lifting.

Let me know how your race goes. Where I live we only had 8 hot days for the whole summer so no training and the race was an hour from where I live and now we get the heat. I am going to take this as a learning experience and move on and hope next year will be better. If it is than I move on to a full ironman and if not stay with the half

It was thundering while I was lifting weights last night, so I opted for one of the fancy elliptical machines that feels more like running. I spent 30 minutes at the top of (and a little over) my heart rate range, then walked for 15 minutes to cool down and did some slow stretching. this morning I'm totally feeling it!!! I'll walk at lunch but otherwise rest today.

I'm super thankful I started a weight lifting routine, but OMG am I weak!!! My upper body is pathetic!

I've been MIA for a couple of weeks - back to school stuff got out of control.

@Highlandbear - congrats on the first 1/2 ironman. That's an amazing accomplishment and you should be so proud of your self. My husband did a half marathon this weekend - his first - and I really am proud of him as well.

All the Back to School stuff and some drama at my daughter's school has messed with my schedule. (I'm president of the home and school group, so I feel like I'm there all the time!)

Monday - Fenced for only 1 hour instead of two - had a back to school night

Tuesday - have another back to school night - so I'll miss my TRX class. Will try to get some yoga in

Wedensday - Home and school meeting - but should make it to fencing for an hour

Thursday - choir rehearsal - so maybe some yoga

Friday - Maybe, finally, I'll get to the gym to do agility and weights

Saturday - Fencing lesson and open bouting in prep for a tournament on Oct. 1 (my first)

Sunday - who knows.

I hope everyone is getting their time in the gym in . I know that I have realized just how much I really need it and miss it - I sleep so much better when I work out.

Keep on losing!

Heat is super rough if you haven't trained for it. Can derail everything. My race is in two weeks.
