Not only do you feel good after, soon, it will bum you out if you don't do it (whatever activity you land on). I was thinking, and another thing that might help the first few times, is to bring someone with you. At least until you are comfortable in a new environment.

Hi All-

I am a newbie.  Had my first consult with my surgeon yesterday.  Because of my insurance, my WLS will not be for at least six months.  I HATE exercise.  Walking I am okay with.  A little weight lifting that is okay too.  I have a recently torn meniscus so I am limited as to what I can do.  But I feel I have to do something.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have lost 122# and maintained the loss for 7 years with no exercise

YES!  I have had so many people tell me how inspirational I am for them.  That outweighs all the other negative brain talk :)

I belong to the YWCA and I know a lot of women wear a shirt over there bathing suite until they feel comfortable to take it off or they take it off once they are in the water and put it on before they get out

Topic: Looking for a strength training app

hi everyone,

im starting strength training, and I'm looking for an app that lets me build my own routine (or modify theirs). I'd like one that includes free weights and gym equipment, not just body exercises.

ideally, one that lets me track my reps and weights etc.

it doesn't have to be free, but free is always nice!

Swork is great, but doesn't include weights.

Nike training is beautiful, but I can't seem to modify the workouts?

any recommendations would be awesome!

thanks

Words have specific meanings for people. Stop thinking about exercise. It clearly has unpleasant connotations for you. Think about increasing activity instead.

If you like walking, walk more. I have a Fitbit, and it help me a lot. It counts steps, and it keeps track of how many minutes I am active each day. Staying active for 5 hours each day is much more beneficial than working hard at the gym for an hour, then sitting on your butt the rest of the day.

Be active. Walk. Take stairs instwad of elevators. Park farther away from stores, and walk extra aisles. Everything counts.

Do what you can, and as you get in better shape, challenge yourself to do a little more.

I've found that most people who hate exercise just haven't found the right exercise.

Are you seeing a physical therapist for your knee?  I'd recommend that and getting advice about ALL the exercises you can try.  Then.. try them all :)

I remember how I felt going to the gym the first time PO. I was so self conscious but I kept at it. The 16th January 2017 will be one year that I've be going to my gym and I recently had a fellow gym member tell me that I inspired her to keep at it. I was so afraid of the negative things that ppl would be thinking that I did not realize there was a flip side, I also encouraged others like me. All that to say, maybe there will be others watching but not in the light that you see it. Own it and keep going!!!
