My doctor was very specific - only walking for the first 6 weeks.  I do not recommend trying at 2-3 weeks post-op.

Thanks.  I started "speed walking" on the treadmill.  I will work up to running.  One day at  time right?

Hi. I know this will sound funny, but I'd done the gym thing, the walking thing, the class thing and nothing worked. Two years ago I tried bikram yoga (hot yoga). I'd never done yoga and was over 260 pounds when I started and something about it just clicked with me. It has cardio, strength training, and a calming effect on the mind, and it's always a beginner course.

There are many husband/wife teams that practice at my studio. It's a 90 minute class that you would want to do 3-4 times/week. You wouldn't need to do any other exercise if you didn't want to. 6 months after my revision surgery from lap band to RNY my doctor and nutritionist said I had to add cardio into my routine. I didn't because I just don't want to and I really get my heart rate up while doing yoga. At my one year check-up I had lost 95 pounds and no one said I had to do anything other than yoga! I feel strong and know I'm giving my body a chance at feeling good while I age. Strong back, good balance.

Best  of luck with whatever you choose - I truly hope you enjoy it!

Hello all.  Quick question.  How long should one wait until after VSG to start running?

Thanks!

Topic: RE: Know of any workout apps?

Hello!  I cant suggest any apps but I can recommend beachbody workouts.  You can buy the workout DVD or get beachbody on demand which you can access on your phone or ipad.  No, its not free but worth every penny.  I'm a beachbody junky and own probably 80 % of their workouts and have had amazing results with them.  For weight training I would strongly recommend Body Beast and/or Hammer and Chisel.

Good Luck!!

Hello I always need to do more strength training but I never seem to find time. One app for Strength Training I like is JEFIT

Here is the link  https://www.jefit.com/

I have not used it for a while I hope it still works.

I like to use Strava and Runkeeper for Running and of course I use by Fitbit  with the Fitbit app to keep track of steps.  Hope this helps!
