A lot of women post surgery do just fine breastfeeding their little ones! I breastfed fist for 3 months...he had tons of issues, not because of my WLS...he was tongue tied and couldn't get a good latch! (I also had to have my gallbladder removed at 3 months). So those 2 things worked against us and we were unable to continue. My Second (5 weeks old) is doing great so far! He has not had any of the feeding issues my first had and my body seems to know what it needs to do! ( I should note though that I both breastfeed and formula feed! It works for us!).

I had one pregnancy while obese and had no issues breastfeeding my daughter.
We are now working with a surrogate (I am unable to carry another child) and I am considering getting a sleeve as I am tipping the scales being morbidly obese. I would be about 6 months out from surgery when my child would be born.
I had been hoping to induce lactation so I could breastfeed this new child from the surrogate, but given that my dietary intake would be significantly different than it was when I breastfeed my other child, I'm concerned I wouldn't be able to do it.
I know this is a unique case, but can anyone comment on any challenges related to breastfeeding after surgery? Were you able to produce enough and provide for your baby or did you struggle (in your opinion due to low calorie intake and/or nutritional concerns).
Thanks!
Everyone seems to be told something different, but I continued my regular vitamin schedule and added a prenatal on top of it. Has worked/works for me.
It was reported to the authorities and legal proceedings are under way.
All I CAN do right now is focus on me, my kiddos, and my baby bean.
Delayni Mae turned 8 months old yesterday and I hit my 2 yr. surgiversary on the 14th. Just thought I'd post a few pictures of my beautiful baby, and then one of all of my gorgeous girls! :)
Thats a lot to have to deal with while you are pregnant. Hopefully someone reported this to law enforcement - they will make it easier for you not to go back to him when they lock him up....child molesters rarely ever have a single victim or stop with one...(i work with these people for a living....)
Take care of you and the baby inside of you - and congrats on the baby girl ;)

I have now had 3 pregnancies. The first one was before I had the lapband and I was about 360 and then my second one was after I had the lapband and was down to 260, and my last one was around 320 to start after gaining weight back. I think as long as you are eating healthy, you'll be ok. Just talk to you doctor. I wouldn't be trying to lose weight but don't take it as an opportunity to eat anything either. I did that and regret it as I'm almost up to my highest weight again.
I'm 21 years old, I weigh well over 300 lbs and I just found out I am pregnant! I am scared to death, I dont want my child to be born with any birth defects. I'm scared of the problems Im going to face as well. Im on a mad hunt for answers, and guidance. Can i lose weight safely while im pregnant? What are my do's and Cant's??
