Topic: RE: (IVF) looking for support or others that are or have gone through IVF Post OP WLS

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for your reply, I am sorry to hear IVF has not been successful for you :( my best friend has had 5 children via IVF but she is 25, although she is a tower of information and support, she has not have had WLS. My concern is when they put you on hormones and other meds, I had the VSG and I know our absorption of meds is not as good as someone who has not had WLS, I am afraid the meds will not work as effectively. Did your fertility doctors adjust your meds to counter act the fact you had WLS? I admire your courage and faith going forward from your experience. I am also scared with stress my A1C has gone up, I have to bring it down as close to 6.0 as I can.

I am waiting for my cycle to come then Day 3 Blood work and then I go on Birth Control then have my SIS Ultrasound. I am on Provera to help bring on a period.

Topic: Just had my first appointment to address my infertility...

Just left my first doc appointment to address my infertility. She's running some tests with my next cycle (FSH, TSH, ESTRADIOL, PROLACTIN) and also we are testing my mans sperm this week. Said if nothing comes back weird that she's starting me on Clomid in August. 3 cycles of that and if that doesn't work she wants to check for tube blockage. If that is inconclusive she suggests IUI after that. I'm glad she's willing to be as aggressive as I would like her to be. This was my first time seeing this doc, as my regular GYN doesn't do OB anymore. Wish me luck!

Topic: RE: Pregnancy after WLS

I have had two post WLS pregnancies....I had the RNY almost ten years ago. My first pregnancy was in 2007, about 4 years post op and the second ended just two weeks ago... I now have a healthy son and daughter. I gained about 30 lbs with my son and lost it all within 4 weeks of delivery. I gained about 40 lbs with this last pregnancy and am down almost 30 lbs at two weeks post op and hope to have the rest of it off in a few more weeks if possible. I think breastfeeding helps and I try to restrict the carbs and junk food if i can and stick to fresh fruits, veggies, and protein. My restriction is about the same, which at about ten years post op is not as much as it was after surgery and I can eat healthy portions. I had no issues with eating during pregnancy with exception to occasional dumping and increased sensitivity to certain foods. However, overall, everything was "normal"

so excited for you! I saw my little guy at 6 weeks 2 day, hcg level 1025. You should definitely be able to see something next appt, if they do an ultrasound. Your hcg sounds awesome though! I am so very very happy for you, a child is such a blessing! I don't know if anyone told you, but worrying is all part of being a parent and it starts the minute you concieve. Just relax, if you can, and let nature take its course. I am soooo rooting for you!

Topic: Pregnancy after WLS

Just curious, who has gotten pregnant since having WLS? I had the VSG.

How soon afterwards?

How was your weight affected during pregnancy? Gained? How much?

How was your restriction after pregnancy?

Were you able to eat enough during the pregnancy?

Any tips?

Hubby & I are wanting to try for our 2nd child in the future and I'm just wondering what I'm up against. I know that my fertility has improved due to the 150lbs I've lost, but wondering how different pregnancy was after VSG. Thanks!

How much did you gain?  Was it difficult to get the pregnancy wait back off?  What did you do to get if off, and how long did it take?

TIA

My daughter (3rd child) was born 4/24/13 and I am 3 yrs 4months post op gastric bypass.  I gained 40 lbs with pregnancy, lost 20 lbs and have put 4-5 lbs back on so trying to watch things more carefully!
