Hey everyone, I had RNY 3.03.14. I just have a few questions, maybe some of my OH folks can help with? :-)
I have PCOS, I was diagnosed around age 8 with syndrome X (metabolic syndrome) I had a few cycles around age 13-14 and maybe 3-4 times on and off until age 21 when I started getting them on my own and it was pretty consistent then they started coming twice a month or every other month or three times a month and now I can't really tell. I have read so many success stories of women getting pregnant after WLS. I am curious if any one out there has had a similar case of PCOS and irregular periods like me ? Did everything change and improve for the better afterwards? Normal cycles? ( I don't even know what that is like ) Did you get pregnant?
Just looking for some clarity :-)
Thanks in advance everyone for any help!
Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've been on. (Feeling guilty!) I had bypass in December of 2011 at 21 years old. I was 302 and was down to 160. I found out I am now pregnant. I am about 11-12 weeks but having a very hard time! Feeling so nauseous and keep gagging awful! I do throw up about twice to three times a week. I know I'm not the first to get pregnant after the surgery..does anyone have any tips for me at all? Anything would help! I know that there's not much to do to help with the nausea but I'm so concerned about my little baby not getting the proper nutrition. Thanks for your advice :)
also, sorry it is very detailed! :)
I got my BFP 2 days ago...This will be my 2nd pregnancy post op. I got pregnant the first time after surgery when I was 7 months post op and delivered a perfect baby girl in January '13. This little bean is due November 7. We are very excited!
I am 17 weeks pregnant and have gained 6-8 lbs depending on the day. I have trouble keeping my eating in check, but I run and have kept running.
I'm 2.5 years out from RNY, and I had been maintaining at goal before getting pregnant.
I am in the same boat! I had sleeve done in 2011 and lost and maintained 100 pound loss. I never really got to goal weight of 155 but I was happy at a size 10. I got pregnant at 174. I am 28 weeks and have gained 22 pounds . I am obsessing about weight gain, yet I can't stop eating. I eat everything. The doctors say I have low sugar and I should eat more! They have also said that I should try to limit weight gain to 25 to 30 pounds. I don't know if I will be able to stop gaining since I have 12 weeks to go. The bright spot' however, is that my bariattic surgeon thinks that I will loose weight and my stomach mwill return to pre pregnancy size after I have the baby. I thought the sleeve shaped stomache could be stretched but the doc says i will be ok.. Seems weird but it gives me hope.
I am with you! I am 2 years post op and 27 weeks preg. I have gained about 30 lbs and I am FLIPPING OUT. I am not trying to lose, but dag on, I surely didn't want to gain more than 30 lbs and it seems like that is inevetable now. I still eat small meals. I still have liquid protein to make sure I get it all in, and I still go to the gym and am staying active. IDK, what else I could do to slow this nonsense down. I pray that it comes off SUPER FAST after I deliver, or else it will be from the delivery room to the gym... Best of luck ladies!
I was 18 months post op when I got pregnant and I had alot of excess skin, mostly under my belly button, but kind of had what you're describing too..just a small pooch above..and it rounded out and smoothed out and I had quite the nice little pregnant belly..
Glad you posted this. I popped on to post the same question.
I had the sleeve almost three years ago and am 24 weeks pregnant. I asked the nurse practitioner today about my alternatives and she didn't know of any...whhhaaaaaatttt?
I know the OB at my office offers alternatives so I'm anxious to hear what they say.
I have always had reactive hypoglycemia and it's gotten worse with surgery. The lab only has one bathroom that they use for urine tests so if they make me do the GTT! I can guarantee I will be in there the whole time with a massive gut explosion.
I will let you all know what alternatives my doctor offers.
Congrats! yes it's s hard not to make excuses because im pregnant with bad food choices but the cravings are terrible and i have to have it. I have NO restriction whatsoever , i cant believe how much i can eat and i have tons of water gain from being taken off meds but oh well. I know once baby is here i can do it all over again and lose this extra weight!
Good luck to you!
Hi i'm doing great besides the morning sickness is a pain in the A__! I too have lots of scar tissue and can tell a difference in carrying with this pregnacy. Ive had some complications with cramping and bleeding and my OB says its from all the surgeries and my uterus window is very this so ive been cramping bad, just making it to my second trimester and hoping i will be able to carry full term as planned with a scheduled c section. Weight gain has been an issue because ive been taken off all diurectics meds that helped me from building up fluid from tummy tuck , so its around 20 pounds gain already! YIKES!!! Im trying to maintain a normal diet and exercise is out of the question since ive been on bed rest for the last 3 weeks but seems to be getting alot better. Maybe one day i can continue on as normal with a daily workout routine and try not to gain as much weight but im hanging in there.
Anything for my healthy baby to arrive , so it's all worth it!
I would love to know how you are doing now. I am considering having another baby and I am 1 year, 2 months post panni surgery. I have had 2 C-sections, so there is also tons of scar tissue. Just wondering how you are doing with this and trying to decide if I should get pregnant again. Thanks.
