Topic: Life long weight struggle and no success with dieting and answers

By the age of 4 I was 68 pounds. Mother was thin, biological father was thin and I was not over fed.

By the age of 14 I was already 180 pounds. I ate no differently then my friends. I was sent to a nutrionist a year later and they had me get rid of all processed foods and join a teen gym but it never resulted in any weight loss.

I was written off as a case of emotional disturbance and secret over eating but that certainly was not what was going on. My family doctor was very concerned for me at that time and forced me into unnecessary cognitive behavior therapy hoping I could gain "control of my emotions" and "stop lying". I ate everything they told me to eat, did everything they said and still remained 180 pounds two years into their "program for me".

Then at 19 I got desperate and starved myself. I lost 30 pounds in two years and by 21 I was 150 pounds at 5'7. But it was NOT easy to maintain. I was eating 500 calories a day and going to the gym non stop. By 22 I collapsed in a mall public bathroom and was hospitalized with an irregular heart beat and dehydration. I was told to starting eating carbs again or I was going to die. So I did. And two years later I was back up to 180 pounds.

By 2021 my weight had reached 223 pounds. And I'm still stuck at that today. I've been tested for PCOS, thyroid disease, cushings several times. No one can find a cause. I'm currently 34 and and not losing a darn pound of fat. I exercise vigorously. No weightloss.

Nothing seems to rxplaon this. How is this evrn possible? And why did i get cursed?

I bought the packaged shredded kohlrabi, kale, cabbage mix in the salad bag and added lots of other fresh produce. It was really good

I'm so sorry for your loss and I know what any type of loss or stress can put a wrench in our overall health. I had my surgery 11/2019. Lost 70# and was not even hungry that first year. Felt so good (i was 75 at the time and battled with my weight since I was 18). Then came the nightmare of my life. I lived in elderly housing and my next door neighbor took a dislike to me, made my life a living hell. Playing loud music, banging on my walls, all this time housing did nothing. Then Pandemic hit on top of it all. On February 25, 2021, said neighbor escalated and knock on my door, with gun in hand, and tried to kill me. Thank God I'm very strong and fought for my life. When he realized he couldn't win, turned the gun on himself and was pronounced deceased. I've gained almost all my weight back am in so much physical pain because of this weight. I started doing WW and have lost 4#. It doesn't seem like much but it's the first time I've lost in over a year.

I wish you all the best but no matter what be kind to yourself.

Thank you! I'm going to try it out.

I used to love the cabbage soup.

I made it, too.

Besides the cabbage, I put in lots and lots of veggies!

Thx again,

Ronnie

Mexicobariatriccenter.com has a 5 day pouch reset plan. I also make the cabbage diet soup to eat when I really want something hot to eat that I can chew.

There is an online 5 day pouch reset that you might consider. I am out 23 years and had gained back 30 lbs also. I started with the pouch reset and am now doing high protein, good carbs and low fat. Have lost 15lbs since Nov 11.

What think you? Possibly effective, or just another attempt to grab at the desperation of the obese population?

Hi cpcampbell,

We are going to have holidays all year around. I continue to eat in moderation and small portion of food on my plate. You will be tempted with cravings for food you should not eat. Each day you will be tempted with food. You have to resist the temptation be mindful of the food around you.

February 6, 2024 will be my four years Post Op. I continue to have continuing success with not gaining any weight. I have met my overall weight loss goal last year. You have to stay fully committed and devoted in accomplishing your goals. You have to eat healthy and in moderation and count your calories intake making sure the calories you consume doing exercise activity equals to the calories you ingested. This could prevent you from gaining weight or having a setback?

I am an advocate for people battling obesity. I am a Spokesperson for a major hospital in California. I communicate with the Pre Op and Post Op patients every month for the group session.

I continue to motivate and uplift those helping guide them to overcome their struggles with obesity.

Happy Holidays
