What a journey it has been lately.

I?ve gained nearly ten pounds in two weeks...slowly creeping up to a number I fear. At 5?1? I?m now 272 pounds, BMI 52.4.

I originally was diagnosed with multiple right upper lobe PEs on 4/16. I was not originally admitted, just sent home on Xarelto.

Fast forward to last week, I was admitted for a few days on the cardiology floor for a work up due to a return of symptoms.

No new clots, but was diagnosed with Right Ventricle enlargement and Pulmonary Hypertension via a right heart cath.

Got discharged, saw pulmonology yesterday, did a walk test, scheduled to come back for PFTs.

Last night was feeling worse, high Hr and BP, severe headache, re admitted. Had some basic labs and tests today, they felt comfortable discharging me.

Got home an hour ago, started feeling short of breath, dizzy, nauseous again.

Checked BP and it?s really high. Going to rest a bit and re check.

Don?t want to end up back in the hospital. So exhausted...sick of my weight slowly killing me.

I have my initial consults with my Bariatric Surgeon, nutritionist and exercise specialist on Monday (it just got scheduled today) so there?s the beginning of a light, but I?m exhausted.

Please pray my BP comes down and I don?t end up back at the hospital.

Hi guys, so I had my surgery on December 27th, 2021, my HW:409, SW:368, CW:280. I am so grateful that I made the decision to have the surgery. I'm from Florida, my surgery was done in Sebring, Fl by Dr. Latzko.

Just wanted to introduce myself.

Great to see you back, Mersh! Yes, join us on the RNY board if you are up for it.

Are you still gaming? I've heard the new LEGO Star Wars is really good.

Topic: RE: Pre-op...Cucumbers and pickles??

That is a new one to me. But it makes a lot or sense. Cucumbers are mostly water and also contain electrolytes. I had a one-week liquid phase because someone cancelled their surgery and I took their place. Otherwise it would have been two weeks. A cucumber would have been really nice if it was allowed back then. I remember craving pickle juice during my first year after surgery. The pre-op phase is hard. I kept thinking I was going to cancel, right up until I was on the table and waiting in the holding area for my surgery to start.

My RNY was supposed to be at 10:00 AM, but there were delays and they did not start until after 1:00 PM. It took about an hour. They got me up at 5:00 PM and had me start walking. The last thing they did before getting me prepped for surgery was a final weight. The first walk we took after surgery was to the same scale. I had gained 19 pounds since that morning. I was so confused and asked my surgeon what was going on. He laughed and said that they pumped me full of water to do the surgery. He told me to go home and pee it out. It took close to a week to be completely gone.
