Running Question
I am preparing for a half marathon. So Sunday I decided to do a long run. I ran 10 miles non stop!! Yay me! But now I am feeling heavier than before. Why would I feel heavier after a 10 mile run? I took 2 days off and ran again this morning with some weight training. Can someone explain this? I am scared to get on the scale to see if I've gone up.
Thanks,
Lisa

Dan is right if you go by your numbers get rid of the scale. I have come to accept it so I still weigh. I will gain as many as 5 pounds during a week of workouts and lose 5-7 on the weekend doing nothing.

Sometimes I "feel" heavier after a hard workout because my muscles are sore and it feels like it takes more effort to move my body, but the scale does not reflect a gain (and usually shows a loss).
You've done really well!! Congrats!
I agree 100% with Dan

I read in a magazine a few months ago that women in particular notice immediate changes in their muscles after a workout due to normal inflammation of the muscles. This answered the question of why my 21 yr old niece always thinks she is looking fantastic and building muscle after 1 sporadic work out
Keep up the good work! Eat healthy and hydrate and do not worry about the ups and downs on the scale.
