Did I say I am ready for this to be over already?  I got an original date of 12/15/08 in July.  I had to cancel that because I cannot be off over Christmas.  Finally, I got rescheduled to 1/19/09.  I am happy with that.  I am ready to get on with my life. 

You do it because you know it isn't going to be the way you have to eat for the rest of your life.  You do it because you want the weight off and because your body NEEDS the weight off.  You do it because this is the last time you'll have to really buckle down.  And yes, while I was in my weight loss phase I mostly only ate cheese, meat, eggs, and some nuts.  You get creative because you have to for the sake of variety.  Patty L always tells people not to let carbs slip into your diet too soon...she says get the weight off and THEN experiment with carbs.  SUCH WISE ADVISE and I got it just in the nick of time!  (Dianne in FL said it to me just days before my DS, and I've seen Patty saying it over and over..it's a hell of a mantra that should be shouted more often and LOUDLY!)  Since you've let the carbs slip into your mix, this may be harder...but you CAN DO THIS!  Start posting to the food and fitness thread for accountability...journal, journal, journal everything you put in your mouth.  I tracked every bite of food I took in on Sparkpeople.com.  I was anal to the highest degree, and now I don't have to be anymore.   Trust me when I say, carbs are a whole lot more enjoyable now that I'm at goal.  I know that if I go overboard my scale will let me know.  Jillian is 8 years out and has gone back to low carbing.  She's lost almost 20 pounds in the past 4 to 5 weeks....you really can do this!  Don't wait until you're past your weight loss window....now's your time, Zappre!  We'll be here for you, but you've gotta keep talking about it!  Even though I don't lead the food and fitness thread anymore, I'm still there.  If you have questions...we'll be there! 

I would suggest that you get your fridge stocked with your favorite protein rich foods so you've always got something good to grab when you're feeling hungry.  Carbs can come along later...you've worked too hard to get your DS to let carbs be the reason you don't succeed!!!  Go Zappre!  Check Valgroce's profile for her flourless pb cookies and her Ricotta fluff...they help...really!!!

I called Paula on 7/7/08 to see about getting my information shipped off to the insurance company for approval.  She stated they should have the endoscopy results by the end of the week and will send everything then.  Then, last night I got a letter in the mail from my insurance stating I have been approved for my surgery at Abington Memorial Hospital.  WHAT????  I called them this morning, and the rep told my I have been approved for an inpatient weight loss surgery and all that applies.  YEAH!!!!!!!!  I have a call in for the insurance/surgery scheduler for Dr. Bonanni to see if she got the same information.  

I have gotten lots of good feedback about the avatar.  I love cows, but I think the lips are more sexy.... a version of me that is yet to come!

Today, I had my endoscopy done at the surgical center.  I wasn't quite as anesthitized as I would have liked, but worse could happen.  I am just glad it is over.  Now, I guess I wait for insurance approval.  Everything else is done!!!  Will my day ever come?? 

I finished all my preop tests and consults 4/15/08.  Now I am ready to meet with the doctor.  Paula said there are times when they are able to move up appointments, she will let me know.  Until then I wait.  That is fine.  I feel confident it will happen when it is supposed to.

I have met with Paula and Ann (the nutritionalist) at Dr. Bonanni's office.  I got my blessing from my PCP~~~who I love and will be forever grateful I found~~~and I am currently in the process of completing the following:
Labs - drawn (all 8 tubes!)
Stool sample- Done
EKG - 4/15/08
U/S of abdomen - 4/15/08
ABG - 4/15/08
Psych c/s - 4/15/08
PT c/s - 4/15/08
Mandatory Support Group pre op - 4/15/08
Appt w/ Dr. Bonanni - 5/26/08 (possibly earlier)
Insurance approval - called and spoke w/ member svcs, my insurance does cover WLS.  I just need Dr. to submit.

I was initially hoping August, but I think it will be more Sept or October for surgery.  Dr. Bonanni only does one DS per week.  We will see...

Right now, I am in the gather all information possible mode.  I am investigating vitamins and protein supplements.  How overwhelming!  I am very grateful for all the support from this website.  

I keep thinking as summer approaches how wonderful it will be next summer--much thinner and healthier!  Until next time~~~

I went to the info session at AMH last month and made an appointment to meet with Paula (Dr. B's RN) on Monday 3/17/08.  I also went to a new family physician that I really liked.  She said she believes I most likely have PCOS even though I was able to conceive my three children without ANY difficulties.  I went and had some labs drawn for PCOS and diabetes(HmgA1c), and I have an appointment to follow up with her on 3/26/08.  At that time I will discuss the possibility of WLS with her.  

Other than that, I enjoy reading all the wonderful posts on the DS forum.  I have learned so much!  What a great bunch of people!!

I am going to begin my journey by attending an information session at AMH on 2/21/08.  I am anxious to speak with someone in person about WLS and DS.  I have read so much over the past year about different options, and I believe the DS would be the best for me.  I want to check with the surgeon at AMH to see how many he has done.  I feel very confident in my choice of AMH, and the surgeon (I have worked with him in the past). 

This is the first blog I have ever done although I have read hundreds.  I am scared to share my thoughts and concerns for anyone to read, but I need support.
