Doc # 4 and Counting...

Dec 03, 2007

It is amazing to me that I can go to 3 different docs around the country who all reccomend Open RNY GB and then cannot perform it due to previous ops.
Today I travelled to Jerusalem to see yet another doc - #4. He listened to me, took notes and examined my abdomen - he didn't feel any hernias; strange as every other doc has! He also does not feel competent as he never did VBG and cannot undo what he never learned. Such honesty is commendable but I would rather the privilege of competency. I respect the doc for his honesty yet I am still trapped in Gerd and intermitent pains on my left upper abdomen. He suggested I have "Gus" (esophagus_ dilated. Gee, why didn't the Gastro think of that in Sep. when he scoped me? I'll trty to contact the man tomorrow as well as try to talk with a doc in hospital in Tel Aviv.
I feel like I just want the darn twisted ring out and let me be FAT.

Starting Over Again

Nov 29, 2007

About 3 weeks ago my surgeon wrote me an email in response to mine stating that due to a case similar to mine and its difficulty and complications he has decided that he does not feel comfortable, capable, competent to do my op at this time.
I immediately contacted him; begged him to speak with a doc in another hospital in Jerusalem. He did. And then I spoke with the other doc. He was hesitant and cautious if he would be able to handle my case. He was not even sure if anyone in the country could.
Later that night I wrote to him on his forum asking "what if any, are the risks to me and my body if I do nothing?" He responded that I may come to his clinic but to bring all medical papers and discs/documents and we would see if there is anything that can be done to help me.
I have an appointment this coming Monday the 3rd of December.
My next post will hopefully be giving an update.

And the Waiting Continues

Nov 07, 2007

The waiting is the worst part.
I seem to have written a discrepancy between my intro and my post on my surgery date. The actual surgery will be 24 December, but in Israel' one often is admitted to hospital the day before the operation.
My GERD, in my opinion has worsened. At times it has also gone up my nose. Not to mention the annoyance of waking several times in the middle of the night due to the symptoms of GERD.
I am now at the point of "count-down" (or is it up) to surgery date.
46 more days.

The Waiting Game

Oct 12, 2007

After running around to 3 different docs around the country, I fel I have "no choice" but to have another revision. This time to a RNY. Personally I don't care anymore how fat I am. I'm used to being fat. I'm even almost used to my periodic episodes of vomiting. What I am not used to is the severe GERD and all its symptoms. I hate waking in the middle of tbhe night gagging on bile. This can even happen after I have already vomited everything that I have eaten.
MY SURGERY TO OPEN RNYGB WILL BE 23/12/06. That is the closest date the doc in Jerusalem could give me where he knows he will the operating room for the entire day as he is very concerned about adhesions, leaks, and getting the job done properly.
