Not too much on the go today. We are transitioning one executive committee to the newly elected one, but I'm staying in my role, so I don't have to do a lot of work for this.

Also, I'm going to talk to the Guelph orientation class about my expe

Today is my one year. Hard to believe that, but then time flies.  I have learned so much in the past two years - pre-op and post-op. My eating is totally different now - no endless, mindless eating. I have been concerned

I generally like to joke around with the people at the bariatric clinic. I distinctly remember apologizing to the one receptionist one day for being weird (I wanted a photo of their junk food board). The other receptionist laughed and said, "don't worr

I've had a few minor complications in the past couple months where I have been back and forth to my family doc and the bariatric clinic. There is one dietitian that I don't get along with at the clinic and unfortunately I had an appointment with her th

Tonight my boyfriend gave me a piggyback ride :) this is monumental for two reasons. First he didn't die or get a hernia from lifting me up. Second, I have major control issues and anxiety related to being lifted up -- I have always hated the thought o

So today I had my little puppy at the vet (she has grown like a little weed over the past 7 months) and I asked the vet if she is getting a little big for her breed. The vet said she was just perfect, even though she is bigger than the breed average. I

I took my aunt to the hospital for an appointment yesterday (she is 88). She wanted to use a wheelchair, which we have done lots of times before. I had to push her up a bit of a ramp -- never a challenge before, but I had trouble getting her up it. The

Hi Everyone,

My mom just got her date for surgery -- about a month from now in Toronto with Dr. Lindsay.  I was wondering if anyone had this surgeon and what your experience was like at that hospital.  I had my surgery in Guelph six months ago,

Apparently I have no butt now.  It just looks very flat.  However, I'm thrilled because these are semi-skinny jeans which I never in my life would have ever worn (or thought I could wear).

A second problem is that I have no good shoes to wear w

So I had this post all planned out a couple weeks ago and then I hit a stall.  Two weeks at just above 200 pounds.  So for the last few days I have cut my carbs in half, and stopped eating the crackers that I found myself snacking on throughout the day

Well, it was pouring rain here today and I had to go out... I don't really have a raincoat, and my sweater was in the car, so I decided to try on my boyfriend's waterproof sweater thing... And it fit!! He's in trouble now ;)

So, three months post-op is a mini milestone with my clinic (Guelph) because I can introduce some new foods... Raw veggies, nuts, seeds, and apples. I am so looking forward to not having to cook all the vegetables. Also, I'm about 12 pounds away from m

I'm just shy of three months post op and my weight loss has been slowing down a bit (which I completely understand) so today I was delighted to step on the scale and find I had lost another pound bringing me down to the lowest weight I have ever been a

I'm two months post-op, and I guess it couldn't last forever -- but I'm currently having a very strong craving for pop. My brother has been drinking a can of my favourite, and thankfully it is gone because I could almost reach out and take a sip. I kno

Before surgery I had some of the symptoms of PCOS including a cystic ovary, amenorrhea, mild hirsutism, acne and dandruff, (however I didn't meet the diagnostic criteria for PCOS).  For those that have/had similar symptoms or PC

I'm starting the soft foods stage tomorrow and have been craving curried chicken for my first real meal in a while. I cooked up a whole pot of food... Which ended up making about 12 portions for my new stomach :)

I think I'm going to need some

Today was a busy day and I had to supervise a class doing an exam for three hours. I didn't want to make noise eating, so I took a bottle of milk as my snack (I'm in the full fluids stage). Well as I was leaving and waiting for the elevator I got a bit

Since day one I've had issues with my biggest incision. It was the only incision that leaked in the hospital, and one week after surgery it started leaking again and became infected. I just finished my course of antibiotics and today my puppy accidenta
