So, I completed my first Olympic Open water Triathlon..Im still battling a hip injury and even though I got an injection on Wednesday, it didnt really help.

However, it was so much fun...and I learned so much. #1. Its very hard to sight without glasses. In training I could pick out something big but here, the buoys were so far down the lake, I couldnt find them until I was fairly close so I know I was all over the place as far as "line of sight". But, I swam in 41 minutes so I was pleased. #2 I knew I needed more work on transitions and if my hip gets fixed and when I do another, I will definitely practice. #3 Untie your running shoes (totally forgot) #4 Bring a change of clothes (seems dumb but again, totally slipped my mind). Besides that, everything went about as I expected. The run was horrible (the hills were worse than anything I ever could have imagined and not being able to run of course hurt). The cycle I actually made up a lot of time 18.1..that part of the course was fairly flat..I was very pleased with the cycle..

With all that being said, I wanted to finish in under 3:30 and I got 3:25:02 (dead last in my age division..ughh)..so overall, I was pleased with my results..

Monday and Tuesday-Rest/recover days

Wed-cycle today--20.53 miles..15.9 mph..pretty easy spin..

Thurs-swam 1500 meters--44 min.

Fri-rode 20.51 miles..16.8 mph..

Sat..Volunteering at a water stop for a Half..

i have to wear my glasses also. wrap them up in something to keep them dry while you are swimming. Does your helmet have a visor on it. If so that will help. Have you every rode with a baseball cap under your helmet that can help keep some of the rain off your glasses. If you need to stop and wipe them off just be real careful and make sure you pull right over to do it. Remember everyone will be racing in the same conditions so it will not feel so bad when you are out there training in crappy weather. Let this be your learning experience. The most important to make sure you have warm stuff to put on for the bike ride. It could be cold. My tri suit does not have pockets either but i use a belt that i can put stuff in and clip it on for the bike ride take it off for the run. Have fun. You got this and remember it is a learning experience

I had a torn labrum (cartilege in socket portion of hip joint) and had a shot. It helped tremendously!!! So hopefully, your shot will help also. Will pray for healing!!!

The water temp should be fine. Good call on the 2 pairs of socks. I really worried about my glasses. I cant ride without them, and I dont have little windshield wipers for them..lol..plus my tri suit doesnt have pockets like my cycling shirts do..now its up to 90% chance of Thunderstorms..yep..my luck..

sorry to hear about the rain. bring a bag in case the ground is wet. some people cover the bike seat up but you are wet from the swim so it does not matter. you might want to bring long sleeve to throw on for the bike. i know when i did mine in the rain my hands were so cold. be careful riding. don't worry about time just do it. if you like to run with socks than make sure you have a spar so you can put on after the bike ride. do you know what the water temp. is. there is cut off for safety on what they will allow a swim to go. hope you get the swim in but be ready to run ride run. like i said done a few like that. you are all set to swim and bang they cancel it. good luck

I love to walk and hike so I'm leaning toward the treadmill.

Thanks!

So, my MRI shows I have a CAM Impingement..(if you knew what that was without Goggle, you are way more informed than me)

I am going for a Shot on Thursday that may help relieve the inflammation. Im going to try to get "aligned" by a friend of mine who is a chiropractor. My same leg had shin issues last year so my orthopedic doctor said, "I have no opinion either way on that" (which to me means, Im a doctor and chiropractors arent..lol..as I said, he is also a friend of ours).

However, if none of these work, I have to get my "ball and joint" in my hip rounded..Im sure there is a more medical term but that's kind of the way I understood it. yeahhh..NOT

I tend to get a better workout on the treadmill, probably because I like a treadmill more. I vary my speed and incline throughout for more of a "HIIT" kind of workout.
