I do circuit weight training for muscle building three times a week. I work with a personal trainer that checks on my progress on a monthly basis. I also do a lot of cardio, pretty much every day of the week. I power walk before work, during work at breaks, and on the weekend with one of my four dogs. My husband and I have added bike riding to our cardio, it's not much since I have a knee issue but it's getting stronger and I'm slowing increasing my distance and duration.

I was doing mostly high reps and toning also. After I was injured, I shifted away from weight training to different types of cardio. After this marathon, I'm going to go back to some sort of weight training but not sure which. I know I need to but I'm in a good routine right now and I don't want to change anything just yet.
Just be careful with heavier weights. You don't want to injure yourself.

I was the same a week ago. Had the "crud" and had to take a few days off. No biggie, get healthy and bounce back. You will be back to form before you know it.

Just wondering how many post-WLS folks are doing weight training. How many days a week to you do strength training? Do you do high reps for toning or heavy weights? Do you do circuits of weights and cardio or just one or the other?
I've been working out 2 days a week with a personal trainer since the middle of July. I have really seen a different in my shape and muscle definition (what you can see under the lose skin!). I've decided that I'd like to shift from toning and high reps to doing heavy weights for strength. Because I am 51 and female, I certainly won't bulk up but I'd like to specifically increase my strength.
Anyone have experience with doing that kind of weight training post-WLS? Just curious...

Thursday- Walked 6 miles and weight training
Friday- Walked 6 miles (no bike riding due to weather)
Saturday- Walked 6 miles, weight training at gym

Not a bad week, just missed the bike riding, weather should be better next week.

We finally got a little fall weather but of course today, its back up to 70..lol..ughh. I ran a solo, rainy, cool Sunday run of 18 miles. My legs, especially my calves, were toast. Someone suggested I need to stretch more. Im also thinking about using Salts Tabs.
Monday-After the Sunday run, I needed today as a rest day
Tuesday-Run 8 miles
Wednesday-Swim 1800 yards (saved some energy for the training) and start with a swim coach
Thursday-Run 10 miles (felt great so decided to run longer today)
Friday-Didn't get a mile. I used the kick board for 100 yards and then again for slow breathing. The kick board will kick your butt. Then I did 18 laps after (900 yards)
Saturday-Working a p/t job (Seasonal helping out my wife's friends). Will not get any exercise in except sweating to death..lol
Sunday-We taper back a little this week..running a 1/2. Next week starts the 20 miler.

Wednesday-6 mile run
Thursday-8 mile run
Friday-4 mile run and yoga (but probably not because Daredevil 3 comes out so I'll be watching that)
Saturday-20 mile trail run
Sunday-10 mile trail run

It's finally fall in Philadelphia! We went from 80+ degrees last week as highs to 40 degree lows this weekend. Glad to be able to pull some warmer things out of the closet. So, headed to a college reunion this coming weekend and found a pair of Calvin Klein jeans in the back of my closet (all denim no stretch) circa 1980. They were a size 10 back then and fit me now - in fact they are a little big. I have been able to show size inflation because I bought a pair of size 6 Levis last week but I'm so excited to meet up with some friends after 35 years and put on a pair of pants I wore then!
Monday - fencing 2 hours
Tuesday - Triple - Personal trainer 1 hour, Cross fit 1 hour, fencing lesson 30 minutes
Wednesday - fencing 2 hours
Thursday - Cross fit 1 hour
Friday - Pilates 1 hour
Saturday and Sunday - Reunion time!
HOpe everyone had a great week and all our Canadian friends had a great Thanksgiving.

Keep on losing!
