Topic: RE: Trying to make a well-informed decision
my gerd was so bad, that it caused barretts esophagas a prelim to cancer the stomach lineing grows in the esophagas ,abnormal, makes acid there, dont need to reflux anymore its produced there, bad, so they took the top of my stomach and wrapped it around my esophagas and it contracts to close the top as the bottom opens to empty out. the portion used would be the same portion used for a rny pouch, so i cannot have a rny, but it did cure the gerd, edos every 6 months for the first 5 years after to make sure i was clean and the stomach lineing retreated, no tums eversinces. if you get a rny u cant have a nissan wrap to cure the gerd, the ds will be done under my nissan wrap, only two doctors i have found who can do it,and they were partners at mt sinai . cant have a band either. have you had a edo yet, it will show if you have the barretts beginning, it is serious ,so you would want to know about it

Topic: RE: Update
Once approved, you can change doctors, if the doctor accepts the insurance ,is net or what ever, not the insurance companys choice. i would get a referal to the ds surgeon, that will be required , and why should you pay for it, I had two surgical consultations in the same group practice two days apart. paid. then the doctor can send your authorizaion letter along with his updated justification for the ds, and you should be good to go.

gosh, i never heard of such a burden dropping at one time. May God be there to help carry your burden.
a quick item, my daughters wisdom teeth were removed by a oral surgeon covered by the health care plan, not the dental. same company, but unlimited health benefit. not like dental that has a annual cap of 1500.

Topic: RE: Doctor visit today....
sharon ,talked to gary today, your about 90mins away from me,when is your support meeting, that might be a easier site then ny. I live in a ds wasteland, gotta traval.

Topic: RE: ARGH
You dont have a spare set of keys, and being a good driver the odds of being stopped is minor as you would onlybe charged with lack of credentials.

Topic: RE: Jeanie, Help! I may have an incisional hernia!!!
I tend to be an alarmist, better safe than sorry type. maybe because i dont pay any medical bills, and being an emt get to see the mistakes some people choose. i had a very small umbilical hernia, not even a thimble of size , it died and almost so did i, if it had prgressed another day to gangreen.
hernias can be come gangreen, if the avulsed tissue is pinched off from the blood supply and die, this is something to consider if you are having pain, I would suggest that you persue it even if inconvient.

Topic: RE: Trying to make a well-informed decision
heart burn aka gastric reflux, i am getting a ds because i cannot have a rny because of the surgical fix for gerd prevents the rny or banding, the ds is a alternative surgical fix for gerd. the wieght loss often resolves the gerd issue, and removal of the much of the acid production in the stomach. more so than with the rny.
ill default to others to address the diariea and odorus issues, havent been there, i am preopt. but my opinion on oder is that "I have a working
flush toilet and dont care about that". it a Manly take on ,
I dont care what my s&*(&t smells like,.

Topic: RE: Asking Dr. for DS instead of RNY. Suggestions?
I am getting my ds from a rny doctor with a ds doctor assisting, the rny doctor is the surgeon of record, for the insurance company and the ds doctor is assisting, technically, He is the teacher /proffesor of surgery at the university med center.
I you need to travel, the air rates from washington to nyc might be more favorable than in midwest city,.

Topic: RE: CPAP question
every six months a new face mask, always get something different, that way i can rotate the pressure points, new tubing, and filters, once a year a tune up on the machine to make sure the pressure is the same as the doctor called for and a cleanning and every around every 5 years a new machine. that is the standard of care protocal for the therapy,

Topic: RE: self-pay ,tax free,dollar 1,
I apparently have a HCFSA, AND Verizon and the union made it the best possible.

Topic: RE: AAArrrrgggggghhhhhh . . . Insurance
sure hope you have cipap or bi bap, by comparison a ephysemic is at a level of concern at 85% o2 level, at the levels you discribe you might need o2 with cipap.
My gastrologist, before doing a edg held off for a consistent 96% o2 and i was 92% percent when he started.

Topic: RE: Looking for New England information
amtrak will take to nyc and about a 5 dollar cab ride to 6 ds surgeons in nyc. and the train to/from boston runs every hour.

Topic: RE: CPAP question
I have had that problem, apart from too much water in the bottle,i added a length of hose to allow it to be further away, but more important is to have it drape down from the machine and my face, createing a u of sorts, the condensed water will drain downward in the hose by gravity, of course if you overfill the vessel, and sleep long enough it will fill and gargle at you.
Distilled water may cause iritation to the nose, it can be harder. if you dont need a water softner, you dont need the distilled water, or as i see it since i get the vessles free one a month from the insurance as maintence . no problem with tossing them .

If you qualify for wls, then it is justified that you be screened for you cronic snoring (apnea sleep study), diabetes ctc and a1c blood test. , coronary status so you can exercise. pysc because you feel down all the time from your wieght, or posibly diabetes, these are standard of care items, that may leed you to consider wls.

Topic: RE: self-pay ,tax free,dollar 1,
I dont have any deductible at all, and it covers dollar one of my copay for meds. and Aetna who manages the healthcare account for verizon has it linked to the pharmacy benefit and the health care that they adminster for us and automately pay my copays directly to my checking account. even before i get the benefit statement from them.
it labed for us as a 'health care reimbursement account.
I used it for the kids orthadontics and got paid for the doctor before i even put money in.
I cant imagine anyone paying for wls themselves wouldnt benefit from the deal, this is only one bank, others may have better offers or employers can set up a betterone yet.

Topic: RE: self-pay ,tax free,dollar 1,
thats what this is, but it will cover your 1st copay, and is not limited to your insurance deductable, it can be for 50 dollars a year, or what ever minimum you account serving contractor provides. this referal is a 125 account, that an indivisual can have with out regard to a employer.
I did not research the details as i have a account thru my employer. and each individual of course has personal needs. but planning can save big bucks and new years is only 3 months away.

Topic: RE: self-pay ,tax free,dollar 1,

Topic: RE: WHO MADE THE MAIN BOARD A RNY BOARD, ANYWAY?
ex:i post something about any wls patient, should have a glucometer to be aware of dumping and what they can do with it, and before long some got it all bunched up and made it a ds/vs rny issue, another post i warned that dumping is dangerous because of the consequence of low blood sugar regardless of the mechanism be it dumping or diabetic shock, and before 30min it was a ds/rny post.

Topic: RE: WHO MADE THE MAIN BOARD A RNY BOARD, ANYWAY?
It seems that anytime a ds'er post there, there is someone who challenges our posting on the Main board, maybe they need a RNY board to dwell in isolation, just having ds in your signature seem to tainte your post as anti rny,

Topic: RE: OT- stealing from the dead
you should call the police, it would nt be the first time a pharmacy was caught , or a worker at the pharmacy, also alert the payor for the drugs, the insurer or gov agency, there may be a bigger case than you think

Topic: RE: Thoughts about choosing surgeons ..... IMHO
have you been approved for the ds from tri care, red hair from florida is working on it.

Topic: RE: New forum idea
I can tell you how your packet of data gets from here to there, but i find it tough to follow it, maybe i just go for the simplicity of this one. the ultimatewls sight is nice if i could remember my password,

Topic: RE: Blood Sugar
i average between 100 and 110, a1c of a 5, when i drop to 70 i get light headed, at 50 i cant hold a consistant conversation, when i go over 125 i take a starlix to pu**** back down, but i test every 15mins until it stablilize at my confort zone of 100-110, Your dex pack have an expiration date, so your numbers may not be accurate, assuming that they are now 2plus years old. you may want to call bayer help line, and ask for a test bottle, they are also upgrading the old dex 1 with a new dex 2 meter and gave me adata cord for the computer free.
