Im on my way...

Nov 18, 2009

so today was information overload for me. I saw the physc doc, nutritionist and the surgeon. i filled out a stack of paper work that took me forever to get through. i sat with the director of the program her at monmouth medical center for 1 1/2 hours and she was awesome. she  explained everything from a to z about both procedures. the bypass and the lap band. they do not promote the sleeve yet. not a big deal. ill go with whats going to work not the latest and greatest. the nutritionist was equally as great. she gave me a step by step process to start now so i get used to new eating habits. the physc doc was funny and put me at ease as soon as i walked into his office. he asked me what i wanted to talk about and if i had any emotional issues i was going through. i was honest with him and told him that i have gotten to this point because i formed bad eating habits at a young age and have never done anything to change them and at this point in my life its time to change. he was very supportive and told me not everyone that goes into this has emotional issues and that its not a criteria for having wls. i was happy about that and moved forward with him and his questionaire with no problems.
Last i saw my surgeon. First impression of him was good. Nice and calm. Didnt rush through anything and talked to me about both procedures. He examined my tummy and went through all the meds im on one at a time. Fortunately I do not have many issues. I take nexium once a day for the worst ageda i acquired some time ago and for that reason he explained that he felt the bypass would be better for me because sometime with the band people that suffer from acid reflux it gets worse but he said we would make a final decision after i have 2 of the gi tests he wants done. after a few more things we went over i was done and he gave me all my rx's for the blood work and tests i have to do.  at the front desk while i was wrapping everything up with the girls..i got a tentative date for surgery. January 5th is what we are aiming for. before i left my doc came walking up to the front office and gave me my first official "slap on the back of the head talk" that everyone in the waiting room told me to get used to cause he will be on my ass if i dont do the right thing lol....he said to me ...quit smoking TODAY. scared me enough to throw away the pack i had in the car (after i had my last one).
