For our August Newsletter, Kathy asked OH Members:
"If a few of your OH friends came to your house for a visit and decided to fix lunch for you, what would they find in your food pantry and fridge?" Be Honest!" Over 170 OH members responded.

Here is what Kathy shared:
"Right now mine is looking good, just cleaned it out. Lots of fruits, veggies and such from the farmer's market. I love this time of the year. Now we are not going to mention the ice cream in the freezer because I didn't say freezer! oh no! -Take care, Kathy"

I have industrial-sized containers of cottage cheese, about a million eggs, Greek yogurt, sugar-free jell-o that I won't touch, and sixteen different kinds of protein shakes.  Aaaah, the fridge of a new post-op.

No newbie here!  I'll be 4 years postop on 8/29/10.  In my fridge, you will find fresh fruit, yogurt, different types of deli meat and cheese, eggs, and nice lean meat for cooking.  There are most always fresh veggies for salads--romaine lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, bell pepper, and such.  Nothing better on a hot summer day than a nice cool, crisp salad!

Not much.

I'm in one of my "knife-in-gut" phases.

So I have my usual tubs of protein (BSN Lean Dessert in Vanilla and Chocolate) and Click (Mocha and Vanilla), some RTD proteins for when I go running (Mix1), some Greek yogurt, milk for coffee, some eggs and cheese for when I'm feeling "adventurous" and that's about it.  I don't like food and food doesn't like me.  Fun!

The kids, however, have their yogurt, fresh fruit, more cheese, chicken, and pasta at their disposal almost constantly.  And thus, I see it... watching me..

OMG, they can't come over today!  My kids went off for the weekend, and Mama's cleaning the fridge!  I found the source of the smell -- it's a turned over bottle of Worcestershire Sauce -- and the fridge is entirely marinated.

That said, my fridge is looking pretty sparse. I need to shop, we have four kids and two adults in my house, and I need to hit the grocery store ASAP.

I have eggs, egg substitute, condiments, pickles, olives, various cheeses:  cottage cheese, sliced cheese, cheese sticks, shredded cheeses, and an outdated ricotta that I just tossed,  skim milk, a case of water, baby carrots, romaine lettuce, apples, protein shakes: several for review, and a handful of Premier RTD's and Atkins Shakes, a Pot Roast that really needs to be cooked this weekend or frozen, half of a pizza, cream, various kid-things like yogurts and Jell-o.

The freezer -- ugh.  It's always full of frozen veggies (which I HATE), Lean Cuisine + SmartOnes meals, Sugar-free popsicles, a bag of ice, meats, and usually, A TON OF BREAD.  We never eat the bread we buy, it always ends up frozen.

I'm out of MANY of my personal staples. I'm lost without my soy milk.  I must get to the store.

I've been to the Farmer's Market twice this week so I am fully stocked full of every kind of seasonal vegetable and fruit available.  I especially love Rainier cherries, and peaches (without the skin), and apples and pears of every sort being I am in Seattle.  I also have a large selection of cheeses, inlcuding French, Irish, Danish, and English versions.  I also have yogurt, including Greek yogurt, cottage cheese and unsalted natural peanut butter.  Some edamame (probably spelled wrong.)  As for meat . . .I don't eat a lot of meat anymore, but I do keep good lunch meats on stock for my husband.  My freezer is stalked with some Annie's Bowls, vegetarian that I can take for lunch once in a while if I feel like it.  There is also a selection lean meats to cook for my husband.  I have gulten-free natural bread in there, and Ben and Jerry's ice cream is in there too :)

On the shelves,  I have whole-grain crackers, some canned Annie's vegetable soups, brown rice, curry paste, and a bunch of jars of sauces from Trader Joe's that are easy to pour over meat and serve with brown rice for a very quick and easy meal with a fresh salad.  On my Mom's shelf (she is 92 and lives with us) are cookies and all the sweet things an elder French woman loves to eat:)

I am sure there is a lot I am leaving off and there is on many occasions, bunches of food that I should not be eating and usually do not eat, but buy when the kids will be visiting and want their favorite home-cooked meals made by Mom.  My oldest son is vegan and quite the chef, and he always teaching me a new recipe and showing me a new technique for preparing something tasty and healthy.

Lean ground beef, yogurt, watermelon, nectarines, quinoa and beans, Minute Maid light, asiago cheese, crab cakes and eggs in the fridge.  In the pantry, there are nuts, whole-grain crackers, beans and other canned goods.

With these ingredients I would make crab cakes with quinoa salad. (Quinoa, green onions, chopped nectarines, cashews and parsley!)

Yum...that sounds like lunch tomorrow!

I usually don't buy veggies because by the time I get to them they are rotten and I just throw them out. So when I want a salad I will just by one that's pre-made.

Like old Mother Hubbard... the fridge is pretty bare. Lots of condiments on the shelves but nothing to put them on.   Greek yogurt, mozzarella and cheddar cheese... skim milk.. Activia Light Yogurt.. leftover shrimp and lobster sauce.  Oranges, raspberries, avocado, Crystal Light.

The freezer is full...but notice that I have very few "ready to eat" foods in the fridge.  It helps ward off temptation if you have to work to prepare a meal.

Sugar -free ice pops
Frozen meats and veggies

In my cabinets... not much really.  I cut out a lot of processed foods after weight loss surgery.
I have some rice cakes, brown rice, canned veggies, Fiber One bars.

Hi Everyone,

Not much....I live alone right now and do not shop much. I usually get food on the go. When my fiancé comes for the weekend that is when I cook.
In my fridge is usually cheese, egg beaters, light butter, fat-free milk, water and protein bars.
My freezer has sugar-free ice pops, Weight Watchers ice cream sandwiches, frozen vegetables, Weight Watchers meals, lean pork chops and 93% lean hamburgers.
My cabinets are filled with baking stuff...to make my protein muffins, protein bars, Cliick, diet hot chocolate, thin crisp triscuits, crystal light, canned tomato sauce, carbquick (?) baking mix to make waffles...it has only 2 net grams sugar and 7 grams of protein in 1/3 cup, and pancake mix from proti-diet. These are mixed with water and have 15g of protein.

I pretty much eat healthy at home. When I go out it is sometimes challenging but I do protein first and watch the carbs.

My fiancé Don, who is also an OH SGL,and I try to make sure we both stick to the WLS diet.

Sunday is my market day too, so today Monday, my fridge is full of already cut up veggies and fruits.  I am simmering a pot of chicken soup on the stove and have my menu planned out for the week based on things that were on sale or available at the market.   I found since I began my journey that I plan my food much more carefully than before.  I don't like to be caught short and not have a good supply of protein or healthy snacks.  It has also changed the way my kids and husband approach food as well.  One of my favorites to have on hand is sautéed peppers and onions.  I can add them to leftover meat from dinner the night before and make a healthy wrap with some romaine lettuce and low-fat dressing.  Low-carb and highly satisfying. Another favorite right now, with the lovely tomatoes available, is stuffed tomatoes.  We stuff them with everything from chicken or tuna salad to an olive medly.  When I have a craving for sweet stuff I just love frozen white grapes.  I don't know what it is about the texture, sweet tart taste of them but they really satisfy when it is hot out.

Fresh strawberries, blueberries and watermelon

Lots of protein bars (I keep them in refrigerator because they are chocolate and melt)
Lots of Unjury protein
Flavored syrups
"Fake" honey
Canned tuna
Canned veggies
Cereals (regular and protein cereals)
Canned beans
More protein bars...

And...confession time....since I have company here for the week from out of town, I also have some brownies out for them, some cake and banana bread!  Oh...the temptations....BUT, when I have that urge, I do reach for my protein bars!  Thank goodness for chocolate flavored ones!  :)

After reading everyone else's responses I feel GREAT about what is in my fridge.

I have Light & Fit yogurt (since I couldn't find the 0% Chobani since they changed the color).  I have low- fat string cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, American cheese, deli turkey breast, bologna (for my boyfriend), a jar of natural peanut butter, 4 flavors of polanar all fruit, watermelon, blue berries, cantaloupe, purple grapes, green grapes, pecans, green leaf lettuce, iceberg lettuce, red bell pepper, cucumber, tons of onions, summer squash, zucchini, skim milk (which went bad and needs to be thrown out) and OJ (which went bad)  whole milk (YUCK - that's for my boyfriend), light mayo, mustard, 80% ground beef (that's for my boyfriend too since he won't let anything lean pass his lips).  On the days he has that 80% nasty stuff, I have lean ground turkey or a Boca burger.  Freezer has various chicken, pork  and every other kind of meat.  Beef like steak and roasts I can't eat, but they are in there waiting for when I can handle it. I have a few Lean Cuisines also.

Um, my husband and I just got back from a weekend in St. Louis AND I am due to go shopping so there isn't much good in my fridge right now.  Also, besides him, my daughter and her two sons are living with us right now, so out of the six of us, I'm the only one who has had WLS... hence the assortment of food...

Fridge

Some nonfat milk, eggs, assorted deli meats, a container of watermelon that I need to throw out because I cut up a whole one and couldn't eat it all quickly enough, raw veggies that probably also need to go out for the same reason, various protein options that I thought I could do but haven't been able to (not really liking food much these days), simply fruit, olives, pickles, sf ready to eat pudding, my husband's sweet tea, my husband's OJ, various take out container from meals we couldn't finish between the two of us.  Now that I think of it, the whole fridge needs to pretty much be cleaned out.

Freezer

SF  popsicles, my husband's Breyer's cookie dough ice cream,  ground turkey, ground beef, frozen broccoli, frozen chopped onions, frozen left over chicken and beef enchiladas I made the last time my son was visiting, bread, rolls.

Pantry

Lots of beef and chicken broth, spices, sf syrup, total cereal, oats, sf instant puddings, tea bags, canned veggies assorted, canned tuna, assorted pasta, peanut butter, chocolate protein powder, beneprotein, any Whey unflavored protein powder, some Hamburger Helper and other "instant" meal prep items my daughter brought with her when she moved back in last week...

Boy, do I need to go grocery shopping....

A friend may not think I'm a good friend. All I have inside my fridge is a bag of baby carrots, salad dressing (FF or RF), fruit juice, and water. In the freezer is two Healthy Choice meals. It's a sad day in my neighborhood because I'm a family of five. We tend to eat allot of salads with veggies from the health food store. They (vegetables) don't last long so I buy fresh daily or every other day. Keeping a low amount of food on had stops those unexpected visits at dinner

Hmmmm. Lots of salad ingredients (there is NOTHING like a good Jersey tomato!) Greek yogurt, lots of low-fat cheeses (can't eat no-fat - to me they are just plastic.  I'd rather have a little good, then a lot of fake.)  Hard-boiled eggs - I eat the whites, when I need to nibble.  To drink, brewed coffee (ice coffee anytime after the temp reaches 80!) and diet decaf orange tea, or sun-brewed chai tea.

Summer frutis - the real sweet varieties', with exception of watermelon cause me to dump, but I can do apples, grapes, cherries, strawberries and cantaloupe.

Breads (can't really leave them out in this heat) whole/multi-grain and Joseph's fiber pitas.....

So yum.

Hello,

Since I am not the only person living in my home we have a variety of things.  Always lots of protein, I am a carnivore!  I am almost 10 years out from surgery and have concurred the cravings and the addictions, since weight loss surgery.

I can have ice cream or other sweets (those were my down fall before) in the house and can actually prepare them for others.  I do not even take a bite!

Best part of all, I don't crave them, want them or feel deprived for not having them. Give me some fruit like mango, orange, strawberries, blue berries, banana or a teaspoon of low-fat peanut butter and I am good to go!

Life is so good when you feel EMPOWERED and no longer a SLAVE TO FOOD!

In my freezer I have lots of lean meats and coconut ice cream as well as some homemade sorbet. Good day to ask this question.  Stopped at the farmers market and the store today and it is a good day for the fridge.

Top shelf, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt several containers, cherries, grapes.

Middle shelf, eggs, skinless, boneless chicken for tomorrow, cherry tomatoes for kabobs, beef for kabobs, hubby's bologna and sliced processed cheese, ugh, but got to keep him happy too

Bottom shelf, gallon of skim, crystal light and benefiber in a pitcher, individual waters for taking along on walks on my side, the other side has hubby's whole milk, iced tea, lemon juice and brats, his and hers bottom shelves, wish he would try the healthier things.  Veggie drawer, red leaf lettuce, radishes, corn on the cob, zucchini, cucumbers, peppers.  Other drawer, shredded and block cheeses, deli meats and snap peas, fresh green beans.  For the most part healthy things, also picked up some baby red spuds to cook for tomorrow.  Kabob night, yummmmmmmy

On the countertop, vanilla and chocolate protein powders, pantry has sugar free coffee syrups and back up protein containers.  Extra flavored and plain water and extra lemon juice for hubby.

Freezer, sugar free popsicles for me, various meats for later and klondike bars for hubby.  Yup keeping him happy again.

Yesterday, mixed sugar free chocolate pudding powder into my Greek yogurt for a different taste, very rich.  Took care of my craving for chocolate candy without doing candy.  Yay for me.

When putting together a menu for a baby shower where ALL attendees except for the mother-to- be has had WLS, the choices were easy: shrimp cocktails with cucumber ribbons, grape tomatoes and avocado slices; 'shooter' size cheesecake cups with fresh raspberries, blackberries; asparagus and artichoke filo dough 'purses'. Who says you can't eat great even in small doses? I always have Greek yogurt with fresh berries, combined with uncooked steel cut oatmeal, dried fruit and almonds/walnuts/pecans for breakfast every day. As long as I have that, the rest of the items in my fridge are there to accommodate my husband.

My fridge has a pretty healthy array of foods in it. Fruits and fresh veggies are always on hand in there. Then I also have low fat sliced deli chicken and turkey breast, cottage cheese, yogurt, string cheese, some small cartons of protein drinks, flavored water, propel and milk. You will also almost always find some grilled chicken breast strips in there. Whenever I grill chicken breasts, I always make extra for a quick and easy protein source for adding to a salad, or just eating as my meat in a lunch.

You will also find in my fridge, a few things I do not eat or consume, but that my husband's enjoys, such as Dr. pepper, some full fat cheeses, chocolate pudding (not SF).

The pantry? I have various canned goods, mostly veggies. Some soups, mostly for my husband, and whole grain pasta.
If you look down to the lowest shelf.. you might just be in shock as to what you will find there. This is the shelf that houses my husband's snack foods, and treats for my Grandchildren like fruit roll ups, etc. And honestly, that no-no shelf doesn't bother me a bit. I typically will buy my husband the snacks he likes, but I don't care for, that way I am not tempted to indulge. And there is very little junk food here or my grandchildren, as when they are here, they like to eat fruit and yogurt and cottage cheese with "grammy".

Now my husband has the opposite problem as do most of us here.. he just cannot seem to be at a healthy weight, but is quite underweight. So when he wants things I cannot eat, I do not discourage him. I just stand strong in my own commitment to my lifelong success and try to always make the best choices. They are not always perfect, but I do pretty darned good!

4 years post op here! Just got back from vacation so it's sort of empty.

Nonfat milk, soy milk, cheeses of all sorts, lots of fruits and veggies from my garden, a ton of blueberries, sliced ham, pickles, condiments, Greek yogurt, eggs, and an entire shelf of diet Pepsi (my husband drinks that). Oh I can't forget the full pitcher of Brita water!

I have flax oil, berries, Fage yogurt and protein powder for my shakes.  There are 3 bags of greens, lots of onions and garlic, squash, zucchini, eggplant, fresh tomatoes and peppers from my garden, assorted cheeses, asparagus, beets, and balsamic vinegar for salads and grilling veggies. (LOVE grilled veggies!!) There are also 8 cans of tuna in the pantry and chicken breasts, sirloin steaks, scallops, whiting, salmon, a pork loin and ground turkey in the freezer.

Since I don't live alone and the hubby and kids enjoy an occasional treat, there are ingredients in the pantry to make cookies, brownies, and a pie.  We don't typically keep packages of readymade items around. They are full of preservatives and other crap with no nutritional value and by only making fresh baked goods when their cravings arise I can better control what and how much they eat...and it makes it a true treat since it is only occasionally.  Besides, mine taste much better that that store bought stuff.

On the counter is a bowl of fresh fruits...bananas, plums, apples, pears, lemons, limes, oranges and nectarines. There are also about a dozen flavors of crystal light, a gallon of skim milk, a V8 fusion light and a carton of OJ.  No sodas.  If they want a soda, they have to leave the house to go get it.

hey Kathy...
I'm being real good cause it's summer and I love fresh vegetables.  I could eat them all day long so my pantry is getting a little bare of the "really bad things."  now, don't ask me this in the fall and winter months but summer is my favorite time of the year.

I've even found "lactose-free" ice cream so even in my freezer I'm being good!!! lol.

I have more Chobani Yogurt in every flavor than the super market. Tubs of Cashew Granola to mix into my Chobani Yogurt as well! That stuff is so yummy. This past weekend I made it to the farmers market for some yummy organic veggies and my friend could totally toss them up with the hundreds of packages of chicken breasts in my freezer. If My friend didn't have time to thaw out the chicken, she could also grab a quick protein shake or bar or some homemade low fat egg salad.

Oh woops... I just realized the chicken in my freezer doesn't count so hopefully the night before my friend comes over to show off her culinary skills, I remembered to put a package in the fridge to defrost Can I make protein shake smoothies if I push the ice button on the outside of the freezer?? Lmao

Crystal light, currently a pink lemonade flavor for the summer.
Bean salad, Couscous salad, Eggplant & typical salad fixings.
For quick healthy protein shakes I have strawberries locally picked and blueberries. Bananas some in freezer and some on counter mix them up with yogurt or fage some soy milk or rice dream ice cubes and a splenda and you have a smoothie worthy of a prize.

Nobody would ever go hungry in my house.  Neither my husband, my normal-weight daughter, nor myself would ever allow that.  Nor would I allow a guest in my house to prepare my snack, but that's beside the point.

Fridge: Half & Half, heavy cream, Greek yogurt (fat free for DH), 2% milk for my husband & daughter, butter, thick-cut bacon, eggs, hard-boiled eggs, veggies of all kinds, condiments (full-fat for me, light for my husband), mayo (full-fat for me, light for DH), 3 pounds of pork sausage for dinner tomorrow, chuck roast for dinner later this week, cheese! (1.5 pounds of sharp block cheddar, 3/4 lb sliced American, 1 lb Swiss, 1 lb shredded cheddar, 1 lb pepper jack, huge wedge of grana padano, small wedge of aged parmesan, medium wedge of romano, containers of feta, crumbled goat cheese, and bleu, cream cheese, buffalo mozzarella (fresh), and ciliegine (small balls of fresh mozzarella), shredded aged mozzarella), pepperoni sticks, Godiva liqueur, juice boxes for DD, soy flour, almond flour, yeast, V8 for DH.

Pantry - canned goods of all descriptions, grains and cereals for my DH and DD, Dream field's pasta, baking stuff (flour, sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, pecans, walnuts, almonds, dried cranberries, almond meal, corn meal, whole wheat flour, whole wheat pastry flour, 5 kinds of salt, spices, granulated splenda, splenda brown sugar blend, a HUGE jar of peanut butter, cocoa, baking chocolate, white chocolate, corn syrup, 7 kinds of flavored extracts, food coloring), 13 kinds of tea, 4 kinds of coffee, the butter dish (because I don't keep unwrapped butter in the fridge - room temperature is best for spreading and flavor), and various jars of sauces & non-perishable seasonings.

Goodie corner: Triscuits (plain for DH & DD, Rosemary & Olive oil for me) chocolate covered peanut butter filled pretzels, milk chocolate with hazelnuts, trail mix, mixed nuts, nut thins crackers, Spicy Nacho Doritos, Multigrain tortilla chips, Double Protein Bread, Akmak crackers, pretzel rods.

Freezer (I don't mind mentioning it): frozen meats, frozen veggies, frozen cooked Dreamfield's pasta (reheats like a dream under hot running water), butter pecan ice cream (DH's favorite), mint-chocolate chip ice-cream sandwiches (DD's favorite), frozen berries, a dozen frozen krispy kreme original glazed donuts (MY favorite), and 8 frozen Godiva brownies.  A couple of frozen entrees for those rare occasions when there aren't enough dinner leftovers for DH to take for lunch the next day.  A couple dozen hot dogs, egg whites for meringues or macaroons, ginger root, Gogurts for DD, 10 pounds of butter (because you never know when you'll need a couple of pounds of butter).

We like to eat in my house.  And did I mention I'm maintaining a 150 pound weight loss?  I my DS, which made NONE of these foods OFF-LIMITS.  I don't have to be coy about the ice cream in my freezer.  It's there, people are going to eat it, I may be one of them (if I'm quick enough), and I'll buy or make more when it runs out.

Deprivation is SO not my style.  Moderation is where it's at.

Refrigerator now:
Water bottles, condiments of every variety (many are  low-carb and most are gluten-free), butter, cream, eggs, bacon, deli meats, variety of cheeses and ONE nectarine

Planning to buy and put in refrigerator:  More of what's already in there plus: more cheese variety (want to experiment), cottage cheese, sour cream, yogurt, low-glycemic veggies (I like peppers, spinach, kale, cabbage, cauli, onion & garlic).....turkey pepperoni to nuke for chips, shirataki noodles, tofu & some pre-made protein drinks.

Freezer:  has all variety of beef, poultry and fish.  Suga- free popsicles, frozen yogurt, big Costco jar of golden ground flax seed (can't live without my muffin in a minute).  I have about a dozen low-carb Lean Cuisines, small freezer containers of homemade taco soup, homemade chili, homemade Italian bean soup, homemade recipe of pulled pork,  and a large frozen lasagna (just in case kiddos drop by!)

I've been purging the cupboards, refrigerator and freezer for weeks now.  My hubby also had WLS and since we're empty nesters now we thought it was about time to ditch the processed crap in the pantry (old mac n cheese mixes, scalloped potato mixes, etc) ...so, we took some large boxes to a food kitchen last week.  It felt great and now my cupboards are BARE!  I have 4 kids so it's the first time in my life that I've dared to have BARE cupboards!  I LOVE it and my large protein jugs actually "fit" in the cupboards now instead of stacked in my bedroom closet!

I'm sounding a little anal with the purging but it's the first time in my life and it feels GREAT to totally embrace my DS (RNY for hubby) lifestyle!
(Admitting that the chocolate stash still exists. )

I'm with you!  I LOVE Farmer's Markets and the veggies/fruits taste soooo much better!

Kind of worrying about the Holidays already.  I have all the kids, grandkids and other guests coming so I will need to bake traditional and stock the fridge with guest friendly things.

....and I'm babbling again.....LOL!

I have just about everything listed in the other posts! NO KIDDING! I have three college age kids at home this summer and they have big appetites. My eyes are literally way bigger than my stomach when I go shopping. I took them with me to Costco and we came home with $500.00 worth of groceries yesterday to add to our already huge stock.
What really strikes you when you open my refrigerator right now is the intense smell or what my kids say: stink! LOL I brought home a big selection of soft cheeses from France. They are all double bagged in zip lock but still..(The beagle at the airport gave my bag a good sniffing but cheese is OK to bring home.) My new favorite is breaded soft goat cheese that is ready to be sautéed in butter until crisp on the outside and creamy inside. Wonderful on top of a salad. Trying to think of what I have that others haven't listed... BBQ chicken breasts in a zip lock bag to slice on top of salads. I have a big variety of sausages, linguicia, chorizo, hard Salamis, etc. Pates, full fat cottage cheese, cream cheese which I add to sauces when cooking, frozen salmon burgers, shrimp and scallops. I have lots of premade sauces from Trader Joe's to add some quick flavor to chicken such as coconut curry and yellow Thai sauce. Canned tuna and chicken for quick protein fix. Beef jerky, nuts, and protein bars for on the go snacks.

I just stocked up this past week. I have all types of cheese, sharp cheddar, baby Swiss, havarti, provolone, Quesa, mozzarella,  cream cheese. Also cottage cheese, yogurt. Lunch meats salami, oven roasted turkey, braunswager, tuna, salmon. Egg salad, hard boiled eggs for FAST snacks, raw eggs of course. Applesauce, no sugar pudding cups. Whole-wheat thin sliced bread. Whole-wheat mini bagels. Lettuce's, tomatoes, peppers, onion,  pineapple, melon, limes. Salad dressings, other usual condiments and marinade's, steak sauce, butter of course. Milk, juices for DH, iced-tea, chilled water. Bacon of course ! Andes mints chilled...tiny for a little bit of chocolate.

In the pantry is protein supps, ready made up mini bags of vits that I make ahead of time, wheat crackers, cereal for DH, wheat saltines for recipes, few cans of soups for casseroles, canned beans of several varieties. Brown rice, wheat noodles for when DH craves spaghetti, as then I can have a little bit. Peanut butter, various normal baking items such as choc chips, mixes for last minutes potluck needs at church. Coffee, tea, A variety of nuts and snacks such as protein bars, beef sticks. Tortilla chips that DH likes. Just the Cheese snacks, love these when I want something crunchy. A variety of dry seasoning packages of ranch dressing, Italian, taco seasoning, beef seasoning for crockpot cooking.

In the freezer are steaks, frozen ready to cook burgers, ribs, ground chuck, shrimp, crab, brats, all beef hot dogs (dh likes those - ick !) , skinless chicken , fish filets, pork roast, beef roast,  sausage, all bought in bulk and divided up frozen and then thawed for cooking throughout the month.   I hate to grocery shop every week and try to go one or twice a month with only little fill-in trips for fresh stuff. A few flavors of ice cream, ice pops root beer flavor, great in the heat of the south! Extra butter that was on sale. Wheat thin buns for burgers, whole wheat hot dog buns for brats or hot dogs. Freshly frozen strawberries and blue berries as there were too many to eat right away. Small bag of frozen peanut butter cups off brand for when I want a little snack with chocolate. Lots of frozen veggies in smaller pkgs, cauliflower, broccoli, lima beans, corn, peas, green beans, probably a few others.

I think that covers most items, gesh that is a lot, but that was my stock up trip to the store. Then I decide day to day what to thaw to make for dinner. My eyes are still bigger than the tummy and we often have leftovers. I have been trying to downsize the dishes I prepare.

Yikes!  I just finished cleaning it out this AM so I can just fill it back up again... so here goes:

-1 organic/free range chicken slow cooked in crockpot with celery, onion carrots from our gardens- and of course- the broth
-10 pounds- yes- TEN pounds of fresh blueberries from the local Menonite farm ( I am canning and freezing on Saturda.)
-Fresh basil, thyme, rosemary ( about 3 cups each) for making herb jelly for the fall and winter months- yum!
-36 eggs-
-1 container of egg whites- "Just Whites"
-2- 1/2 gallons milk- one LF, one regular
-1 half and half- sorry- my downfall- gotta have a bit in the AM java!
-1 pint of heavy cream- okay another confession- my DH makes homemade ice cream in the summer- but I swear I don't indulge- besides eventually it goes in to the freezer and you didn't ask about that! Ha.
-Low -at mozzarella cheese
-2  salmon filets
-Grape tomatoes
-White rice
-Fiber One yogurts- key lime and strawberry flavor
-LF sour cream
-Black beans- cooked and ready to go!
-Crystal light iced tea
-Cold decaf coffee- Hazelnut- for coffee coolatta later
-Zucchini stir fry for dinner tonight
-1/2 loaf of multigrain (high-fiber) bread
-1 pound of butter for chocolate chip cookies for kids-

Now- don't ask about those cabinets- that's my DH's domain- from larded down chips to peanut butter and chocolate. Sigh.

It is a learning experience to have good food in the house from all the food groups and still have food that others eat (unabashedly, I might add!) stored for them.  But, my band keeps me satisfied and losing- from my heaviest- 78 pounds so far- from surgery- 33 pound. (surgery date: May 4 2010.) Yeah Lap-band!

Salad Greens
Leftover grilled summer veggies (squash and peppers)
Watermelon
Cantaloupe
Grapes
Mangoes
Papaya
Peaches
Banana

Slice of birthday cake
Eggs
Locally raised ground meat
Boneless pork chops
Carrots
Potatoes
Zucchini
Round summer squash
Yogurt (both Greek for me and Yoplait for the family)
Cottage cheese
Filipino pastries (from our recent visit to the Philippines)
Roasted turkey breast
Sliced Virginia Ham
Cheddar Cheese
Light salad dressing (two kinds)
Real butter
Grated parmesan cheese
Beer
Various condiments

That's just my fridge!! My pantry is similar in that it has only a few "snack-type" foods (cereal bars, micro popcorn, nuts, etc.) for the hubby and kids. For the most part I believe in eating REAL food but admittedly I do have Click espresso protein drink (for those out-the-door breakfasts) and protein bars. (Again, for those times I simply CAN'T sit down and eat when I'm hungry).

I am in hopes of getting the surgery. I think of how much money I will save on groceries since there is less of me and less of me to feed... CHA CHING!!

Well my fridge is stuffed as usual but it's pretty much all healthy stuff that I can eat. A number of ancient jars of condiments that should be tossed and perhaps a few ufo's (unidentified food objects) .But here is something interesting. Sometimes I buy things I intend to use like fat free sour cream or fat free ricotta or a quart of skim milk  but I don't get it used before the expiration date. so it gets tossed. I seem to want to keep a pretty good variety of choices for whatever my itty bitty tummy desires and therefore have more than I need. shopping at Costco exacerbates this. But it's better to toss food than eat stuff you don't need and even if I were tempted, good ol' sleeve won't let me. what a great thing. need to clean it out and toss the trash. D

In my part of the fridge is Laughing Cow cheese, ww cheese, non-fat cottage cheese, edamame, my newly invented bean salad, babybel cheese, sf Jell-O pudding, have some sf popsicles and low-fat provolone cheese, del ham, chicken, turkey, hummus, frozen Morningstar sausage links, frozen turkey patties, frozen bean burgers. Then I have a cupboard with canned chicken, black beans, refried pinto and black beans, calcium chews, pita bites, whole grain crackers.
Now my roomies, three bags of marshmallows, several packs of Hershey chocolate bars, 2 boxes of graham crackers, couple bags of potato chips, freshly baked brownies.
And no, haven't eaten a bit of any of it but it is hard sometimes. I LOVE SMORES! Which is why I won't touch them.

I'm in the liquid stage, so not much of anything. There's some butter and cheese in there because it (hopefully) won't go bad before we can eat it. As for real food, we have milk, carrots, apples, pudding, yogurt, and some leftover Mac n cheese in there for the kiddo. About 30 bottles of water, some Jell-O, some SoBe drinks, and some Gatorade. Seriously, the thing looks not at all like normal.

I guess I've just got regular stuff in the fridge like salad greens, peppers, salmon, tofu, yogurt, milk, cherries, watermelon, eggs, iced-tea, soy milk, salad dressings, etc., BUT, I've gotten into a really bad habit, I think, which is very wasteful and I'm wondering what you all do.  Because we eat such small portions, I end up with little plates with my left over's on them in the fridge which I plan to use for lunch tomorrow, or dinner the day after, etc. Sometimes then I find I don't feel like eating that left over salmon and asparagus or whatever it is and then I forget about it and it is wasted.  I've gotten into a bad habit of doing this.  I've also gotten into a bad habit of not eating a proper lunch and just having a little snack on my way to do errands because I don't want to take the time to sit and eat.  I feel like because I don't feel hungry I don't have to take the time and I can get away with eating a cheese string and a few cherries or couple bites of fruit whereas I know this is not the best choice on a regular basis.  I guess it's laziness...

Well, I am only home on the weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) because I work on the road, so my fridge is FULL of foods I don't eat...no need buying much for me since it will only sit there and go to waste but here is what is there and my husband eats 75% of it:

1 case of EAS Myoplex Chocolate Fudge Protein shakes (42 gms of protein in 17 ounces!!)
10 bottles of water
Gatorade
Sugar-free Iced-tea
Regular Lemonade
Grape juice
Grapes
Cherries
1/4 of a watermelon
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
4 bell peppers (red, yellow, green, orange)
About a dozen bottles of salad dressing
Dill pickles
Green olives
Black olives
Cream cheese
American cheese
Cheddar cheese
Provel cheese
Bacon
Deli ham
Some leftover brisket
Margarine
A bag of thawed out frozen blueberries
1- half eaten nectarine

1/2 bottle of Hershey's chocolate syrup

See, I told you....there is a lot of stuff in there I can't eat.  I normally shop for myself when I get home and buy just enough to last for the weekend.

You want honest answers?!?!?!

Well to be honest, I haven't been to the grocery store for a while and need to, so it's really easy to say what's in my fridge besides the scary blue/green fuzzy things growing (did I mention my fridge needs a good clean)?

Skim milk
red, green and yellow peppers
5 eggs
borscht
strip steak
BBQ pork pieces
spinach
lots of hot sauce mmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm
luncheon meat and miracle whip for my kids
a few new potatoes
And that's about it.

I know sad but that's it for now until I do the shopping tomorrow

Well my fridge is kind of mashed up right now.  We have of course the traditional condiments on the door, juice, milk, beer (husband's), fresh veggies/fruit, leftover chicken, eggs, cheese strings, lunchables (for my son), yogurt, cottage cheese, traditional Nigeria dishes (for my husband)....not too bad.  We all kind of eat different things right now.  Getting better at getting everyone to eat good healthy things with me.

My fridge is looking pretty fresh today and we took a trip to the Ottawa Farmer's Market!

In my fridge:

Fresh veggies: carrots, kale, green and yellow beans, yellow tomatoes, avocado (sorry, that's not local!), kohlrabi (I have no idea what to do with it yet, but it looked interesting so we bought it!), and a bag of salad lettuce

Fresh fruit: cherries, red and green grapes, strawberries, plums and apricots

Dairy: fat-free cottage cheese, skim milk, low-fat cheeses (including Light Mini Babybel and Light Laughing Cow)

Meat: not a whole lot right now, just some fat free deli turkey and turkey pepperoni

Various condiments, jams and salad dressings, a jar of dill pickles, sugar-free Jell-o puddings and a package of low carb tortillas.

In my pantry:

Dreamfields pasta, quinoa, whole wheat crackers and melba toast, nuts, dried edamame, sugar-free Oreos, no sugar added mini Reese PB Cups, Cheerios, canned fish (tuna, salmon, sardines, shrimp), pasta sauce, canned beans and lentils, Crystal Light, some assorted canned veggies and fruit and other assorted condiments and spices.

Well now, that's a lot! We could have a nice lunch out of that stuff! :)
